A very good PSA. I think every cache should have some type of SWAG and often try to leave coins in micros if nothing else. Haven’t found anything small enough for nanos though 🤔 TFTV
When I first began geocaching, I was just a kid and it was basically, Dad taking us kids out into the forest, park or down the trail to find a box of toys to trade. Was really fun! Now as an adult, in my area, most of the caches are nano or micro and don’t contain anything but the log. Every once and a while we stumble on a regular container and my excitement for the goodies that may be inside is short lived. Mostly just find garbage that people pick up off the floor of their car or in their purse. Used/expired transits passes, the orange container from a kinder egg but no toy inside, used hair elastics, broken toys, broken cosmetic tools, even used chapstick, etc. So much, that I’ve given up on bringing my bag full of tradable things with me. Never need it.
@@catherinelinton3444 That’s very true, I’ve ran into quite a few caches like that, but we can’t let that discourage us. TGVs PSA was about geocoins/path tags but it could also extend to all SWAG in general. There’s lots of thrifty little toy SWAG at the Dollar Store even legit Hot Wheels are like $0.97 at Walmart. Then be sure to mention in your logs “hey I left this, if you take it please leave something (or even two things) of equal or greater value for the next cachers”. Not that you have to leave something at every cache you visit but what if leaving that one little “treasure” behind is enough to inspire a new geocaching family to keep at it. It’s not just on the cache owners it’s up to us geocachers to set an example through our actions and our logs. Positivity has a way of spreading and you have the power to spark that within your community. Over time it will hopefully lead to better quality caches and SWAG. Took Nothing Left Something 👍
@@kodeecache1649 yeah, a lot of my things I have in my tradable bag are from the dollar store, but I also made little things like a frog out of green beads and wire, key chain that says my city’s name, some friendship bracelets and some emergency kits made from old pill bottles that have matches, bandages, elastic, tissues, quarters for a pay phone (not that that would be as helpful anymore), etc. I try to have things of different value so I can easily trade with equal or greater value. But that is an excellent idea to just leave things without taking anything! At this point, we could even try to make it something significant in hopes that it would brighten someone’s day, we all need an extra smile with everything going on in the world. I’m glad you suggested that!
I have created two Pathtags so far and will make another this next year. I drop a few in caches but mostly trade in person or through the Pathtags website. I do enjoy finding them, and when I do I drop one of my own.
I have a new pathtag for the summer of 2022. Its a "Galveston Island, Texas" pathtag. It has a geocaching pirate ship on it. We are going to host an event this summer in Galveston to give out my new pathtag.
Love PathTags....not to much here in Spain.....I spent my senior year in Ely, Minnesota.....should come back and try to find your pathtag in a cache!!!!
I loveeeeee path tags so much!!! I only have about 8? Maybe. I’ve found 2/3 in my own caches which is great, and a few in others hides which was such a thrill! They’re not too common here. I’d love to make my own, nit sure how much they cost for 100.
Love Pathtags myself. I can’t remember if I gave you my White Bear Lake Pathtag with the Polar Bear on it?? Hope you stopped in and ate at Steak and Shake. I absolutely love that place and became addicted. I’m also beyond addicted to Pathtags. Trying to think of #6 design.
I'm still a bit new to geocaching, only have about 30 finds, but I did manage to find a cache w/a pathtag in it; the best piece of swag I've found yet :)
I get so so excited finding pathtags in geocaches but only 4 times ever in over 600 finds 😢 I don’t own my own pathtag though so I can’t leave them so I can’t really place them
I learned allot about pathtags at my first mega event in Ohio. It truly was an extra bit of fun added to this already fun game. Finances being what they where at the time, I couldn't make my own until two years ago. The one this year I used the theme of my local mega. Sadly, it was postponed, but I have been handing the few I got out so those who missed the mega can get a little comfort.
i found one of these pathtags inside the big coin magnetized to the wall of my dump trailer after a friend returned it to me, i had no clue what it was and still don’t to some extent. it’s cool thought, someone enlighten me on what to do with it haha
I have a few for the local club called OKIC(ohio kentucky indiana cachers) I plan to release them over the next few months or when I get a chance. We planned to do a few more this past weekend in tennesee but just ran out of time. I did though get one for my 60th birthday on top of a mountain in a fire tower.
Is it easy to create your own pathtag? I have tried many times on the website but couldn't figure out the simplest way to do it. Yours is really cool! :)
I would suggest finding a designer. For pretty cheap you can explain an idea to a designer and they will create the art to send right pathtags. Check out some of my other pathtag videos to see how it is done.
I always put on my tag profile that I prefer to trade in person or leave my tags in caches. I have a new cache that is supposed to be a TB Hotel and pathtag exchange. Lots of TBs are being dropped, but the pathtags are being taken and not exchanged. I expected some people to do that, but so far it's been every single person. So disappointing!
We just put in an order for 2 new ones ! We love trading for pathtags . Wish we found more in caches . Maybe this will help . Need that new one of yours !
I have found one Pathtag and been given one Pathtag, but cannot log into their website as I cannot remember my password. The site isn't very user friendly in that respect.
So i found a trycacheus and the other half path. Tag are you telling me i should have logged it n kept it cuz i put it back in the cache after logging it was my first pathtag find now i feel like going back for it to start collection
Hey Josh, since the US/Canada border is likely going to be closed for the foreseeable future, it’s not possible for me to leave my pathtag in ND or MIN. You up for a trade by mail instead?
Ohhh myyy I would loove to have one of your Pathtags. I leave tones of swags in caches when they are lonely and empty.🦋
A very good PSA.

I really got a kick out of designing the PathTags for Behind the Cache and The Nano Kids!
You are such a great artist!
Thanks for the shout out! Your video got me inspired to coin my pathtag!
That’s awesome! I love your tag!
I've been caching for six and a half years and have never found a pathtag. Probably because I'm in Josh's neck-of-the-woods and he gets them all!
😂😂😂
FUNNY! We put our first geocache into a cache for the first time and it did indeed felt good!!

Cool to see you in my neck of the woods. I’ve stopped at that Steak ‘n Shake several times. Also have found several caches near there.
Great video Josh!
Thanks so much John!
I remember the first one I found,.
I was so excited but 30m up a tree. The moment was filled with excitement and fear.
I put out three pathtags of my own, just yesterday! :)
👏👏👏
Keep up the great content Joshua :D also I found my first path tag a month ago
i love pathtags
Pathtags rule!
Love PathTags....not to much here in Spain.....I spent my senior year in Ely, Minnesota.....should come back and try to find your pathtag in a cache!!!!
I was doing that til I realized a local guy would go collect them and trading as his own.....
Yes, I find myself placing pathtags more when I am out of town.
Love Pathtags. You have several of mine. I have many of your from the past few years. Can’t wait to get more. Love finding Pathtags in caches.
Pathtags in caches are such an awesome surprise!
I've never found one but I have found one of your pins.
I love pathtags!!! I've been given heaps at the "mega" in Australia from the lovely community
Can I trade in aus well I only have one but still would love to
Just waiting for my new pathtags to arrive, and then I'll be good to go :)
YUS!!!
Working on minting my second pathag.
👏👏👏😍
Around where I live nobody puts in a path tag
I found one in a cache once I was stoked I haven’t been able to make my own yet but I have a few doubles to trade

I too am brainstorming my 2021 design.
if i didnt have to buy in bulk i would buy some. i designed one and everything its just wow... expensive lol
Compared to the price of geocoins pathtags are fairly inexpensive.
I'm still a bit new to geocaching, only have about 30 finds, but I did manage to find a cache w/a pathtag in it; the best piece of swag I've found yet :)
I have a couple of your path tags now... they are the only ones we have though. Xx
I get so so excited finding pathtags in geocaches but only 4 times ever in over 600 finds 😢 I don’t own my own pathtag though so I can’t leave them so I can’t really place them
I’ve been searching for a path tag ever since I heard of them a couple years ago. 450+ caches later...still haven’t found any. Maybe someday!

The silver lining of cancelled events is now people have more tags to put in caches/trade.
i found one of these pathtags inside the big coin magnetized to the wall of my dump trailer after a friend returned it to me, i had no clue what it was and still don’t to some extent.
it’s cool thought, someone enlighten me on what to do with it haha
Keep it!! Or take up geocaching! Find a geocache and throw it in there. Finding it would make a geocacher very happy.

I want to pay 3 dollars to get one of your path tags
Patreon. 😊
I have found one Pathtag and been given one Pathtag, but cannot log into their website as I cannot remember my password. The site isn't very user friendly in that respect.
So do you have to trade it out with another path tag
It is treated like normal swag. It is worth around a dollar so trade for something of equal or greater value.
So i found a trycacheus and the other half path. Tag are you telling me i should have logged it n kept it cuz i put it back in the cache after logging it was my first pathtag find now i feel like going back for it to start collection
You could have kept it.
