I love how she is proud of her space and genuinely is excited about living on the Upper West Side which is a legendary neighborhood... She makes it work well
I think what some people fail to understand that is for her, living where she wants to be, near the people she loves, and the experiences and work opportunities that she has in NYC is a trade off she is willing to make. And from looking at all the effort she's put into her space she seems happy with that trade off. What works for one person might not work for another. Or indeed, what works for her now might not work for her 5 years from now. But she's making the best of what she has now so she can have the future she wants and that's the truly important thing to remember.
She is quite happy and doing what she loves so that's all that matters really. People who have lived in New York just love it because there's so much to do and the city NEVER sleeps.
People also don’t realise when you live in a small inner city space like that, you actually spend a lot of time outside enjoying life & the amenities of the city actually become extensions of your home. I lived in an equally small space in Sydney Australia & the coffee shop downstairs was my chill zone, Hyde Park was my backyard & a short bus drive to Bondi was my swimming pool. Best socialized years of my life actually.
It's one thing to do that because you want to, but the question is are you doing it because you have to? I loved going to the park or jogging trail, had a favorite coffeeshop, attended plays and poetry jams, went to concerts, conventions and movies, and exploring thrift stores and secondhand shops. And I did all this while living in Indianapolis, Indiana, and living in a 1-bedroom flat with far more space and paying less money. I'm happy she's happy. But other cities have great amenities and offer a vibrant social life without the cramped quarters and absurd price tag. I want everyone to be happy with where they live, but let's not act like that's the only place to create the life you want.

While I appreciate the host's enthusiasm, she needs to let the person she's interviewing complete their sentences before she jumps in to talk over them. The constant interruptions made their whole interview sound choppy and chaotic. The host needs to stop centering her reactions and allow the conversation to flow. Ask your questions and let the person you're interviewing respond. That give and take makes the interaction entertaining for your viewers. This exchange was just irritating.
Obviously she's incredibly nervous, and is way over animated in her reactions to fill the empty sound space, which she can't even allow to happen. She's young, she'll get better at it. I notice she calms down a bit more towards the end.
It wouldve been nice to see the bathroom, but otherwise I'm glad to see such a realistic looking small apartment. I feel like often they dont look very lived in and its hard to imagine actually trying to fit all of your stuff, but emily actually has SO much storage!!
"All your stuff" ceases to be an important phrase. You never get to have ALL of your stuff in a tiny space. You narrow it down to essentials only and maybe 3 or 4 nostalgia or decorative things. After that, you have reached maximum saturation and rotation is essential. 1 new thing coming in means 1 old thing goes out.
You think so until you realize 2 seasons of clothes don't fit in the closet and when summer is over and fall/winter comes in summer has to be stored somewhere. Where do you hang puffy winter jackets and a big shoe wardrobe god forbid you have boots! Where do you store extra sheets and towels and cleaning products a a Swiffer or broom?

I couldn't tell... but was there a bathroom (right inside the entryway)? I know some of the tiny apartments in NY have shared bathrooms on each floor. I'm all for living tiny...especially in a city you really want to be in. I moved to Seattle 5 years ago and downsized and got rid of my car. I like the hosts bubbly personality but she’s got to let the guest talk. Every 5 secs she’s interrupting her. Also, I understand they prepped questions for her to ask but at times the conversation came off as forced and unnatural. A good interviewer knows when to ask questions vs when to listen. Lastly no one thought to ask the guest where her bathroom is? Does she have one? Is it one those shared bathrooms for every floor situation? And what’s her rent?
❤ how she makes the space work for her, and the storage hacks are great. She has the best of life nearby: The park, Broadway, museums and family. Thanks for sharing this sweet space.
The big question for me is does she have a bathroom??? I could live in the small space, I’m pretty sure she owns way more items than I currently have, so for me I’m reorganising things in my head. Although I don’t think a small space like this would be good for my cat, he needs more room to roam.
I lived in a studio apartment for six years and loved it. So many of my friends were “house poor” because most of their money went for rent. I only moved out because I met my husband who’s 6’2” and didn’t fit too well in the place. I now live in a 4300sf house but sometimes I miss my little place. Everything I needed and wanted were within an arms reach. 😀
I grew up in a 300sq ft apartment with my father and sister. Now I live alone (husband died 8 months ago) in an over 7000 sq ft house. Until very recently, house prices in Idaho were quite cheap by national standards and this house cost us one third the price of a house one third the size of our house in Los Angeles where we moved from. My water bill last month was a whole $1.69. That is not a typo btw.

The only suggestion I have is to buy a stepladder. Using the dining chair is not only unsafe, it’s hard on the structural integrity of the chair. Otherwise, cute place 😍
No, not safe and also not hygienic to climb the counter in what looked like her gym shoes, lol.
This is how ppl live in some areas of the world. I started tiny living and i would never go back. It makes me feel safe, it’s reduced my anxiety and tbh it’s what kicked my healing journey into gear. Got to see that owning things was not important, living is and doing things u love and that make u happy.
Also it’s saved me money because I stopped having to buy things to fill space. I don’t own excessive things like I used to and stopped buying and spending so much money on things like clothes and shoes I didn’t even need, it’s helped me put money away 😊
Where the hell is the bathroom?
No bathroom, no toilet
Probably somewhere on the floor shared with 258 other people
😂
There is omg. Its on the right when you enter the apartment. You can see it in her tik tok video. The apartment has a bathroom.
Kitchen sink .
Great use of space! 💪
Thank you!! :)
Nice video! The music, production, and editing was top notch! Whoever did that must be very talented!
This living space has happiness all over it! It's cozy and doesn't feel cramped. I love it. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us!
I love the excitement.
Had a great time on this tour. Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii byways of Waikiki
Yeah the crosstalk was a little much, but I guess it matched the vibe of the apartment lol. Nice place, overall!
I LOVE this segment. Talia you rock!
The bathroom?
That woman never let Emily finish a sentence. God I hate people who have to chime in half-way through anything you try to say!
This series is great and I really loved this tour especially. The girls that get it, get it.
I've lived in an apartment in Seattle that's the same as this one and I can say that it's very doable. I also only pay $925 a month in rent with all utilities paid for which is dirt cheap for Seattle.
Love this apartment and could absolutely live in it! So cute and so cozy! She did a very good job! She made very good use of her space! It is my dream to purchase a Tiny Home so I have no problem with this tiny studio - no problem whatsoever! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I love the apartment😊
She has what she needs and it’s just perfect for her.
Thank you for sharing Talia
You are so welcome! We are so happy you loved it!
It's probably what her parents, who also live on the Upper East Side, can afford to pay for.
I love her apartment. I’d live there in a heartbeat!
That ceiling looks higher than the standard 8', maybe 9-10'? I would have built a bunk bed system with the bed on top and the desk and sofa underneath it
Yesss I did that in my apartment in Chelsea to make extra space underneath
I put a little mini couch too
UPPER WEST REPRESENT BABYYYY
That's a great space for a single person, especially good that she has her own bathroom and doesn't have to share with her neighbours. I would happily live there!
I think about it like this be glad to have a roof over your head small space or not god bless her 👏🏾
Amen!!!
Double Amen. No matter the size, that's home for her and she is very proud of it 👏
LOVE this tiny apartment (lack of bathroom and exorbitant rent, aside). It is all about location, location, location.
Love it! I lived in a tiny apartment in the Bronx, and it was one of my all favorite apartments.❤️
I love ❤ her place... It's small... It's bright... She turned 175 square feet into a home........ And the furniture she added... And the way she placed everything... Very clever...
.
If I had her place...
.
I'd never move out...
.
It's fantastic...
.
🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for making the video. It was fun and enjoyable to watch...
.
I look forward watching more.
I'd live in a shoebox to be in somewhere like London or Oslo... so much to get out and do (pandemic lockdowns notwithstanding).
NYC is awesome. Home is where your heart is. Life isn’t about square footage. Question though…. No bathroom tour!
It was cut out due to time restraints- I do have a bathroom... and a bathtub! :)
@@Emviolin417 Is the bathroom in your studio, or is it a shared bathroom outside your apartment? I love your space, you have everything you need in a a fabulous city. Yes, you can get a MUCH larger place in BFE, but there is NO comparison. And I know because I live in BFE and would trade you in a heartbeat! LOVE YOUR SPACE!
@@rmonson5002 It's in my studio! I have my own shower, tub etc. If you watch again you see there is a space behind the "kitchen" area, across from the "foyer" that's where the bathroom is. I even have my own bathtub :)
@@Emviolin417 Right on! Great space, love the exposed brick!
Where is the bathroom. Please 👍 🥰
Agreed.
@@dianebaker5243 Bathroom is in the front behind the kitchen. It was cut out due to time restraints- I do have a bathroom... and a bathtub! :)
Agreed. It really took away from the tour. Relax.
I had to stop watching it because of the interruptions 😝
❤ how she makes the space work for her, and the storage hacks are great. She has the best of life nearby: The park, Broadway, museums and family. Thanks for sharing this sweet space.
Love it!!
The big question for me is does she have a bathroom???
I could live in the small space, I’m pretty sure she owns way more items than I currently have, so for me I’m reorganising things in my head. Although I don’t think a small space like this would be good for my cat, he needs more room to roam.
See bathroom in original tiktok linked above :)
@@Emviolin417 wonder why skip it?
Wowwww...I wanna visit new york after hearing those storiessssss...woww!!!
@@lisabaltzer4190 That's great pricing but what's in Idaho, lol?
@@skywalker6648 North Idaho has a bigger population than Spokane, Washington and a better standard of living. You should check out North Idaho or the Boise or Pocatello area sometime. Rexburg is beautiful too.
@@lisabaltzer4190 I'm saying what is there TO DO in Idaho to make it more interesting than living in LA where you said you used to live? I never said nothing about Spokane.
@@skywalker6648 There is hunting, fishing, boating, ice skating (rink and lake), roller rink, bowling, good restaurants, theatre’s,etc. I can do everything I did in Los Angeles in North Idaho. My only real complaint is about buying clothes and shoes. Most clothing is limited to farm and outdoorsy wear , and if you have tiny feet like I do, forget it. To get petite size clothing, I usually go to Spokane and I have to buy my shoes online. NOBODY carries my size shoes anymore 😔 (4 1/2).
This apt is adorable, functional, creative, and full of personality! Thank you for the tour. I live in 180 square feet and love it. It's more like playing house rather than keeping house.
Does your 180 have a bathroom?
@@Freaysclaw56 yes. It has a small RV sized tub/shower, sink with vanity (and storage) a large medicine cabinet and of course a toilet. Total dimensions: 3' x 4' 10"".
@@suzannecranford6819 tiny but functional. We lived in an rev with a bathroom just like that while our home was being built (30x70). Every time I moved to wash a body part I hit my elbow, lol.
@@Freaysclaw56 lol!!!
It's amazing how I end up in there with 2 cats and 2 dogs all at the same time. I want to get a smaller toilet in order to gain a couple more inches of floor space. 😁
@@suzannecranford6819 having the 2 dogs, you must get out a lot. Are you near a park for them to enjoy?
Gorgeous apartment. I actually love it!! The layout is perfect with the hallway and the way the kitchen is set up. Where is the bathroom? Is it shared outside?
That's what I want to know. I think its probably shared
I was thinking it might be the space just as you walk in on the right, behind the kitchen wall.
Such a cute place! I just felt she was interrupted every time she tried to answer a question. Made it hard to finish.
It would be very interesting to know how much would this space in New York would cost to rent per month!
~2,300 could be more
Upper west side
I would say probably 1800, depending upon how long she’s lived there, I had a 1 bedroom in at townhouse for less than 2300 on the UWS, and west of broadway.
Probably, the way rent has went up around 2500 or more.
Lovely apartment. Thanks for sharing 👍 🥰
Thank you so much!! :)
An inspiration for vertical living!
Thank you!! :)
NY is her home and she loves it there. It’s no one else’s business why she lives there. She WANTS to live there! I love the space! You go girl!
Hello how are you doing?
Does it or does it not have a bathroom?
It does ;)
What a difference that one stone wall makes! Cozy from the start. Best feature for me is her dining table with the chairs that go all the way under it. Love it!
Watching From The Caribbean 🇻🇨...I Really Love The Space.
Thank you so much!! :)
Hi Iam, we are so excited to know that we have viewers from St. Vincent! Greetings from New York City :)
Did I miss the Toliet & shower area? I thought everything was well laid out & very nice. Thank you.
I feel like they were competing to talk. The host is cute but would not let that poor girl finish a sentence.
I can't wait to see more ! I binged all the Tiny space videos :)
It's a charming space in a particularly lovely and civilized neighborhood. If I were alone, I could see myself living there, even though I'm old.
Beautifully done, your home is so well organized and put together to fill so homey, I would love this size. So happy for you that you have family close by, what a Blessing. God Bless love🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
i love how they kept talking over each other.
😂🤷🏽♀️
Very cute. I love how she added a cabinet/ counter for more space.
Love this so much! Let's see more tiny spaces please :)
Coming at you soon, Natalie :)
I love the coffee area, the little counter space there is very cute.
And I kinda think the brick wall is a treasure ❤️
Love this! Making it work
Thank you!! :)
Where is/was the bathroom? Down the hall (not in the apartment), I may have missed it
0:39 Pretend to be surprised by a visitor when her camera man is in you flat with you filming it LOL.
love the kitchen setup! when you are young and move out of your parents home, anything larger than your bedroom is spacious!
I really need to know where her bathroom is! I love how she uses her space!
I think you've done an admirable job. You've proved less is more
First time I watched the channel. I'm not sure that you are aware you totally kept talking over the young lady. I know it was such a cute and unbelievable space that you were probably excited. Loved the space.
I think this video should be edited and add a voice over. Nice Space though 🤷🏽♀️
It's like that in all her videos. Can't watch them anymore.
I will live there too I believe as long as it’s your own space anything will do. It’s cute and cozy ty for sharing
There's so much to see and do in NYC, you don't get all caught up over your living space. I have a house now, in ''the burbs" because my job moved out of Manhattan to another state. I would trade my house in tomorrow to live in that studio apt. Nobody here understands that, they think I kiss the ground every day because I now own a house. They are totally wrong, period. I'm retired now and plan on heading back to the city if I have to live in a tent there!!
l LOVE your space! I decided to watch this to get ideas for my tiny space. And for the negative comments (which I cannot understand why folks can be so cruel with words) can be put out with the trash! There's no space for them. (pun intended)
Lancaster, PA! 717er, represent!
YAY!!! 717!!!
how did she manage to hang the mirror on the brick wall? i need tips cuz Command strips won’t work & im trying to hang the same sized mirror onto my bedroom door
I'd love a small space like this in NYC! But how much is rent?
This is the question we are all dying to know.
@@ljtinney - Found it; sorta. $1600/mo end of 2020. It’s in one of the comments in the original TikTok, but she deleted her own response confirming the price, which is probably higher now since rents have returned to or surpassed pre-pandemic levels. That’s not bad for a studio in a really good location in NYC. If it’s high floor up with no elevator, that might not be as good of a price. Also, random side note, the dog is her family’s; just likes to hang out with her. 🐶
@@hummersd Thank you. You're the MVP.
@@hummersd It only went up $50 :)
@@hummersd Bravo 👏 Excellent research.
What is the monthly rent for this place, please?
What do you pay for power, and hot water?
What is included in your rent?
(A/C must be expensive as heck!)
Talia really needs to let other people complete their sentences. She can’t seem to stop talking over her guests.
I noticed that, it was distracting. The apt is so cute. To be able to live alone in NYC at her age is a gift/accomplishment.
Is there a bathroom or is it down the hall like in some apartments for rent in NYC?
In her tiktok in the description she has a private bathroom.
