Solid vid! Wish I could broadcast this 24/7 for the first few weeks of every year on my local water for folks with new boats.....a couple things I would also emphasize for anyone digging in the comments of this vid
    1. Be careful how fast you slow down to pick up a fallen rider..if you are running a lot of weight (especially fat sacs + people) you can cause that surf or wake wave to ride up onto the sun-platform if you are not careful (also be sure nobody is standing while you slow down). Know your boat's legal capacity limits too.
    2. Turning while towing a rider the 'right way 'is just as important as turning to pick-up a rider when they are down. Come back into your own wake (if it is safe), following the turn-around is key to keeping the water clean and allowing boats to run in smooth water in a similar pattern.
    3. Do not wrap the rope around your hand while pulling yourself into the 'sweet' spot on the surf-wake...also try to use a thick surf rope for new folks learning.
Dang I should just make a vid too...props to JB for another great vid! #BoatSafeShredLonger

@@jboneill One generic tip for the boat ramp - you mentioned not shouting at your wife out the window of the car to avoid a divorce. Good tip, and hopefully some backing-up practice and preemptive rehearsal of the sequence of events can make it easy, but if you do need some communication, call your partner on your cell phones (speaker/handsfree). Talking quietly on the phone is less likely to cause a stressful, antagonistic response than if you're shouting, in public, to someone 50 ft away, over the noise of truck exhausts!

Awesome you made the video, is needed but it's missing some important points in my opinion. which are
    1. if you drive the boat you are responsible for the people on the boat, even injury, by that I mean coordinating picking the person out of the water and bringing them to saftey.
    2. driver gets to choose the music unless asked, other people can play music but just ask the driver first
    3. always driver in a straight line, curves suck, and when making a curve, jb pointed it out, make it a quick turn
    4. be there before the time agreed, by 5-10min. being a little earlier is curtious, especially if there is a time limit on the water
    5. wave to other boat riders, spot on jb
    6. as a driver consider how you drive amongst other drivers, don't do uneccssary turns, stay closed to one side of the lake instead of through the middle
    7. if you have to cover the boat at the end of a session, help the driver clean and cover the boat up
    8. understand the hand signals for how to tell the driver to change the speed and when you are done with your session
    9. if you are invited, ussually bringing another person was not part of the plan, chose wisely when asking to bring third parties, we don't have all day
    10. if you are not the driver and are not going in the water next, helping prepare the next person is not a bad thing, you can set up the handle while the rider gets ready
there are many small common sense things but these are the ones of the top of my head.

Driver holds a straight line when the rider is cutting to the wake for a trick & waits until they land & are riding away from the wake before initiating a needed turn of the boat. On the flip side, the rider has to pay attention to any turns and/or obstacles ahead so it doesn't put the driver/boat in a bad position. It's amazing how many times riders do this & it's so frustrating!

I’d like to see one about etiquette toward other boaters and residents of said lake. Now that towboat wakes are huge there are a lot of wallys making a bad impression on the rest of the lake users. Running fully waited for no reason, getting too close to docks and shoreline, blasting terrible music in front of peoples houses for hours. We need people to be courteous and aware of how big and disruptive our wakes can be. Many lakes banning wake enhancing devices. If people were just a little more aware I think it would go a long way. It might not be as prevalent on lake Austin since towed water sports pretty much all own that lake but around my area a lot of people hate wake boats. We want people to like towed water sports, not hate them
