The most phenomenal thing about Donna Summer is THAT VOICE!!! Always top notch production. She is a true QUEEN. She ruled 70s with some Mega hits and #1:on the Billboard Charts
Donna went on after Disco and had many hits and was even doing Club Music up almost the time that she passed. She wrote or co-wrote many of her hits and she will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. I have met many actors and musicians that I grew up watching as inspiration, but unfortunaely I never got to meet the extraordinary Donna..
Donna Summer is one of the greatest female vocalists ever and in my opinion she doesn’t get enough cred because she was cursed with becoming Queen of a genre that died quickly.
I feel she didn't get much credit because she was the Queen of a genre that LOTS of people hated. Disco took over Rock stations and Rock DJs, either, lost their jobs or had to convert to playing Disco songs. There was even a record burning of lots of Disco records out of dislike for Disco music. So, being the female artist of a genre that caused some to react this way is partly why I think she has been snored on by lots of music lovers. Donna Summer should be on list of great vocal singers along with Whitney, Celine and Mariah (because she's just as good as they are), but she's not. Nile Rodgers said history has not treated Donna Summer kindly and he's right.
It was a mega, mega hit, and Donna Summer - Queeen of Disco - was everything in the late seventies, ruling the "Radio" with so many disco classics Like this one, "Bad Girls" & "Hot Stuff," but she really got the game going for real with what I believe was her very first track released (1975?), a pure FIRE & erotically scandalous hit called "Love To Love You"!!!
Dick Clark called her the most under appreciated female vocalist he has ever met. Nile Rogers says "She doesn't get enough credit ", and "history hasn't been kind to her". David Foster said "She changed the face of pop music forever ". She was transformative artist, who was pop music first female mega star selling millions worldwide and pushing the boundaries by crossing into multiple genres. She was the first female artist to dominate the Billboard Charts, first female and the first black artist to have 3 #1 albums back to back on the Billboard 200. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame took too long to inducted her, it was on her 5th nomination. After she passed, but they did do her some justice by naming her the "Diva De Tutti Dive", the first true diva of the modern pop era.

I LOVE Donna Summer! I was fortunate enough to have seen her in concert twice in the ‘90’s here in California. She is a powerhouse and sounds even better live then on her recorded material. So very underrated in my opinion. I love Whitney Houston, but Donna Summer is every bit as talented as the beautiful Whitney Houston. She recorded an album in 2008, I think it was her last before she passed away in 2012, called Crayons. A couple of stand out songs on that album to me are the title track, Crayons, Stamp Your Feet and I’m a Fire. She also released a single in 2010 titled, To Paris With Love. If you have some time be great to see you react to any of these great songs by the beautiful and talented Donna Summer. RIP Donna. Stay safe, Empress! And thank you for the reaction. 🙂✌🏻🙂

Queen of Disco. Her breakout song was the 16-minute, sexual "Love To Love You Baby" where she moaned and groaned in ecstasy. It was released as a 12" single which was unheard of. She has a fantastic discography and a voice so powerful. It was such a sad year when she passed away in 2012, just 4 months after Whitney Houston had passed.
🤔 Song is from 1979 not '78. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Pop. They gave it to "The Rose" by Bette Midler. 🌹 D.S. 🎤 (1948-2012) ☆

No, Empress. This song came out in early winter of 1980. It peaked at #8 on the Billboard Soul chart and it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This song became Donna Summer's first Top 40 and first Top 10 of the 1980s.
You're going through the idols of my youth! I'm excited for you. When I listened to Lady Gaga's Chromatica, I thought her voice reminded me a bit of Donna Summer's. Donna's has a much rawer and a more powerful quality though.
Empress - Sheena Easton is a great vocalist. She really changed up her image when Prince wrote songs for her. But my favorite of hers was when she did the album produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid especially the lead single "The Lover In Me". She was looking her most fit and sensual than ever. And her vocals are fire.
@@EmpressReacts just for the record, David was referring to other song that he produced for her, Last Dance. But i understand the resemblance. Last dance was a 1978 top 10 hit and On the radio was released in 1980.

interesting - this and enough is enough (the only 2 songs I've heard with her) are 🔥🔥 s/o Giorgio💯
MacArthur Park is amazing, just make sure it's the long version.
✅noted
Please do more Donna summer like dim all the lights, fame ,stamp.bad girls and someday
No, Empress. This song came out in early winter of 1980. It peaked at #8 on the Billboard Soul chart and it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This song became Donna Summer's first Top 40 and first Top 10 of the 1980s.
You have such a sweet girly voice, so pretty with that lovely smile too.
😊 thank you
What a beautiful 😍 miss her bad
Her most famous song I feel love I think it started disco
Interesting‼️ I gotta check it out
Lol Empress you crack me up.
Check out her songs “Hot Stuff” and “Last Dance!”
You're going through the idols of my youth! I'm excited for you. When I listened to Lady Gaga's Chromatica, I thought her voice reminded me a bit of Donna Summer's. Donna's has a much rawer and a more powerful quality though.
Wow, thank you! and hmmmm interesting...now i wanna listen to Chromatica to see if I hear Donna's influence😂
❤️❤️❤️
Hopefully you'll watch a live version of Macarthur Park, or listen to I FEEl LOVE, Hot Stuff and Bad Girls
OG here, she was HOT HOT and oozed sexiness. Another 70s songstress....Sheena Easton Morning Train and James Bond theme For You Eyes Only.
noted✅thanx OG adding these to the list😍
Empress - Sheena Easton is a great vocalist. She really changed up her image when Prince wrote songs for her. But my favorite of hers was when she did the album produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid especially the lead single "The Lover In Me". She was looking her most fit and sensual than ever. And her vocals are fire.
@@p6833 interesting...i'll have to check her out
BIG CLASSIC / LEGENDARY / DONNA THE GODDESS / DISCO QUEEN / DISCO FOREVER BABY / * GIORGIO MORODER / OLD SCHOOL REPRESENT / F*CK NEW SKOOL
You should definitely react to the Selena disco medley performance. Its way better than the movie. ❤️
thanx for the recommendation i've never seen the real thing!
Lil...Sis....I love you so much! Please check out MacArthur Park Suite. It is too long for a patrion's pick. Please I am dying to know what you think!
😘will do
Please check out I FEEL LOVE and MACARTHUR PARK. 🔥🔥
✅
This is a short version :(
ooops😂but its cool tho, the longer the song the more risk the video runs of being blocked💯
David Foster told her this song will go nowhere with the slow intro..lol
woww! was he wrong😂 the intro is my fav part💯
@@EmpressReacts just for the record, David was referring to other song that he produced for her, Last Dance. But i understand the resemblance. Last dance was a 1978 top 10 hit and On the radio was released in 1980.
@@JordiVLopez thanks for the clarification. I gotta check that song out too‼️
The 70s produced some good music and talent. Have you tried a music career
agree💯and yeahh i've audtioned for a few tv talent shows
The biggest hater of disco still loved Donna Summer
I can believe it
You remind me of my Best Friend. You should have been born a Gay Dude 🌈🌈🌈
