It took me 4 hours, but I finally watched the whole video, while fishing wires in an attic in a cement block condo in Florida. But well worth, beautiful video, please keep it up, love it love it LOVE IT!!!
Holy Shit this is good Cried like a little school girl during that interview with Denny’s widow Thanks for sharing this with the world 🌎 You and that motor rock! Fantastic editing job
Wow, crazy good shit right there. Growing up in Fremont and going to the drags every chance I got this brings back a lot of memories. And this build is crazy good as well. Looking forward to more.
Wow what a story, I just love the old racing stories and pictures. I remember being a little kid and watching Uncle race stock cars in the early 70’s, the early 60’s Ford Truck pulling the’55 Chevy stock car, thanks.
So, I’ve gotten like a lot of others where I have about a 3 minute attention span for UA-cam videos. These are the exception! I could watch these all night! Great stuff!
@@danielstoner2843 you have a unique ability to tell a very compelling story, been diving into this (your build)the last couple days, and the shifters stories, glad this gem popped up
This felt like a Stacey Peralta film for real hot rods and motoheads! Real deal story telling of a golden era that is cherished by some, misunderstood by most and coveted by all. This whole series does. This was great! Thanks!
Okay, that was rough at the end. It's awesome that you documented the first-hand memories of the remaining Organ Grinders and Carolyn Wailin. Great work Dan and Crew!
Wow how long and how many cars did you guys hold up and block trying to get that trailer backed in ??!! 😂 Also, not trying to scare anyone, but when Queenie here was sitting alone outside around the 20:00 minute mark, look around your backyard !! I have photos of 👻 spooky shadows too all behind you watching. They seem to be only looking at you and the cameraman, I did take some pictures of them to show you and/or the world 🌎….
At 20:19 the fellow in sunglasses laughing with Denny was the track photographer and connected with the Gotelli dragster Rudy Perez. Rudy said between races Denny would watch the christmas tree counting and timing the lights which is why he was so quick. He kept clicking away as his shoot didn't open and he ran off the end of the track. He told me that Denny ran off the track and the front wheels stuck in the creek bank flipping the car up and slamming it down on top of Denny breaking his neck. That day Rudy walked away from drag racing.
I just can't figure out why you didn't get Gotelli to rebuild the engine, you had him inspect it, he's still around and building engines. Maybe because you're building it to street drive and he builds race engines?
That was a big part of it: he and John didn't see the T as a practical carrying case for that motor - and I totally understand and respect that. And, in the end, it won't be really a street motor, as much as it'll be a light-to-light motor!
@@sublime929 I think the other thing, that nobody wants to talk about, is that Denny Miliani's death back in '65 still hurts. It's amazing to me, but every time I've tried to talk to the guys who were there and were friends with Denny, I come up against brick walls. At worst, they refuse to talk to me at all and they'd literally destroy their photos and memorabilia of Denny before they'd share it with me. Now, on the other hand, I have to respect them for that: Denny must've been one hell of a bright light and one of those rare personalities ripped away from his friends and loved ones way before his time. I know what that feels like and I wouldn't feel good about such a special person's death being exploited. That's pretty fkn heavy, but I think there was a little bit of that when it came to this motor, too...

First time I saw the shifters was at a gasoline station around the corner from six flags magic moutain in 1997 They rolled up tree cars when they came out of the cars they where dressed like greasers they where wearing converse shoes and had a pack of sigarettes rolled up in their sleeve .it blew me away from that point till now I am still a greaser. Had friends that became greasers but it was just a fad .now I run into them from time to time but they look like pretty boys with tattoos. They ask me hey you still doing that thing? I reply for ever!!!!
Wow, pretty intense stuff! Carolyn's commentary and her box of drag racing treasures are priceless.
When my wife saw this episode and Carolyn's part, she said, "She still loves him..." AMAZING...
Every episode gets better. Thanks Dan
Thanks, Scott--I know you're a hard one to impress, so now we gotta outdo ourselves on the next one!

Yeah, Jake...same thing happened to me, and that kinda thing just never happens.
The traffic backup was hilarious!!!
Hey, good thing that trailer is so easy to back-up---gotta thread that needle down Brendan's driveway!
Amazing story-telling coupled with great follow up questions. Well done.
Appreciate that, Morgan--the whole idea is to unlock these amazing stories and share 'em...more to come!

Love this video series. Also, love the Ford Camper Special, very cool.
Great 👍 story. Love to see one on Dave T

Nothing warms our black little hearts like a great drag racing story, amiright?

Seems like this engine should go to a museum as is and not modified for pedestrian street use.
I was at HMB the day of the crash and watched the Gotelli team drive past Linda Mar with the back half of the car in the shop pick up, sad day.
