Congratulations on building your dream studio! It looks fantastic and very comfortable! It's very inspirational to hear you speaking about the process of slowly moving up the game and piecing together the studio and equipment over time. As you said, everyone starts somewhere and hearing about you going from a laptop and a Bamboo to what you have now is incredible! I've been following you for about two years now (maybe more) and I'm extremely happy to see how far you've come! Great job, man! Looking forward to seeing where you'll be in 10 years more time!
You know, I’ve been grappling with this idea in my head of how does art (like an illustration) help or benefit other people. And when I remember you and your channel, and the journey you’ve been through throughout the years and how diligent and persistent and dedicated you are to your craft, it develops this beautiful image of all the people you’ve helped just by sharing what you do and how you do it. To show that heart and commitment to something that brings you joy and a sense of accomplishment helps others start to do the same.

Someday I want to make my own animation studio and seeing how you built yours, inspires me. I have been watching your videos and animations for a some years now, and you never cease to teach me something new. Thank you Howard! 💗
That's a beautiful setup I'm actually making my own story/manga/comic/anime, with seasons already with dialogues and chapters, and I draw every day for a concept in the story or I draw the 70 something characters that I need to draw, OK to make it short, I'm also trying to do animations but I been using a phone for 4 years and quality of the animations are crap, it's like pixelated 480, I'm still in school tho... And now I'm hoping someday that I'll achieve enough to have a studio like this so I could have the required things to help make my stories or animations I really inspired by how you made it this far...
That's awesome! I love your ambition and your dedication! Keep drawing every day. Keep looking for opportunities that come around and I'm confident you will get there
honestly you're the biggest help when it comes to animation to me im still somewhat of a beginner and animating on my phone and ur tutorials really help bro
"What do u want" is the question that's been going around my head for a while now.. And you mentioning it feels like a confirmation for me to go to where im more honest with myself. Ive also reached a certain goal right now, finally built a decent computer for me to learn more about animation. And this video is just very timely. Thank you for being an inspiration!
I love how that question is all it took for you to reflect 😄 you know all the answers you need to know. Anything else you need on the way to your goal you can find out, mostly just by googling
@@HowardWimshurst I suppose you also believe in guides and angels. Again, It felt like you're channeling their confirmations for me and is resonating with my current situation. Thank you so much for the kind words and guidance~ 🙏
I loved the closing line. I've often caught myself out wanting things others have just because they're going after it (like new certification, job status) and so many people in my office chase after cars and more money to finance the things that adapt them to fit in socially.
I saw the title, and I just wanted to congratulate you, man! It looks so cool. I've been following you for a while, and seeing how far you've come, I'm happy for you man.
14:45 Guys, in order to be a pro, you really don't need half of the stuff Howard has. I've worked as a story artist in feature animation for years and still use an old Cintiq 21" (you can get the 21" or the 22HD second-hand for $300-400). I replace my computer (which costs around $3k) every 3 or four years and recently bought a Fifine mic for $40 to improve the sound quality of my scratch recordings and Zoom calls. I have a second-hand Ikea desk that I bought for $80 and a second-hand office chair that I got for $60. My studio is on one of the corners of my living room (I used to rent a desk in a shared studio). I'm sure I can still optimize my setup to spend even less.
You've hit the target. "What do you want?" IS the key question. Point is that nowadays in a so quickly changing world we basically feel the urgence to get what we want/need as soon as possible... like before time runs out. And definitely step by step animation is a patience work where "in-betweens" days can make us feel exhausted or frustrated. We need to see the initial burning idea in our minds coming to life at once before another exciting idea steals our passion away. At least this is what happened to me too often in the past. Staying focused and allowing dedication to a project until it's done IS what I personally want to achieve. Otherwise no idea will ever come to life and my talent will never bloom. The balance you show between discipline and creativity is one of your strongest assets. I'll keep working on it and animating every day. Thanks for such a great content in your videos
Very inspiring stuff Howard, It's also been an inspiration seeing you grow and improve over the years. I'll be sure to revisit this video when I finally setup my small studio.
I definitely loved the advice at the end of the video! Absolutely loved to see your journey and looking forward to see where you are going as well! In the meantime, I will work on my goals! God Bless Bruv!
I’m so happy for you, you’ve been grinding for 10 years of pure wonderful animation, you fully put so much energy into your videos and it shows, I got really into your channel after the Naruto fights video, you clearly love and have a lot of interest in what you do and your effort shows,

I have just found you in UA-cam and you inspire me. I am an part-time illustrator and my full time job is a researcher because I need money to live. It is really hard to enter an illustration world since there are a looot experts already out there. By watching your videos, I believe that I can switch my full- and part-time jobs in the future. I just need to keep trying, patient, and don't give up. Thanks!
The advice at the end really hits on the spot. Here's a little story of mine I remember watching your videos about how to get into the animation even tho animation wasn't something I wanted to do but I liked illustrations and wasn't too sure about my goal after I entered the college, but at that time (almost 3 yrs ago) I started watching you and found out that I really liked drawing and illustrations in japanese light novels but it was when I came across the video about your journey, even tho I didn't wanted to be a animator that video of your's did inspired me to become a illustrator. Even tho I still wasn't too sure of my future earnings I finally decided which was last year to finally give my all in art to become the illustrator and I have came really long way and gotten alot better in digital art, still moving forward just afraid to post it on soical media but gonna do it soon too. Now I'm also intrested in writing a manga and will gonna try learning animation too after I done with this goal of mine So thanks

Oh damn you randomly showed up on my timeline after probably like 2 years. I don't think notification bells were a thing back when I subbed. Definitely hit the notification bell... And I see I have a lot of catching up to do.
Hey Howard, not sure if you will read this, but in case you do, I would suggest you change(or look into) the setup of the cables that you have tucked away in the bottom drawer. This is because if one of the cables happen to have a short circuit(or some other accident which involves the risk of cables lighting on fire), it will be a while before you are aware of it. Moreover, the drawer is made out of wood so uh yeah...I would suggest you look into it. Thanks for your time. :D Great setup btw, really loved it, keep up the work :D

I'm also using wacom bamboo and it's still working 💪🏻 now the new Wacom Cintiq 22 is on the way to home🥳
Howard your definitely right playing this video games has waisted so much of my time. I still drawing every day heck I’m even doing tattoos. Animation was always my thing. listening to you I felt like you was talking to me & thank you bro needed to hear that. Congrats on the studio can’t wait to see some traditional animation. Much love Howard
damn, idk i like having my bed close by. but i also do not stream my face neither aim for creating my own studio. i think creating your own comfortable space is up to you. it's not actually essential, but i do understand that it can be helpful for your mindset to focus on work when you enter that room.
yeah it's certainly not essential in the beginning, but if it gives me even a tiny edge over a long time I'll take it. and I'm the type who doesn't rest or take naps until my head hits the pillow at the end of the day, then I sleep for 8.5 hours but that's just how my natural rhythm goes these days. Rooms have a lot more surface / walking space when you take the bed away
Honestly I first got interested in animation from watching your video but your level is too high and I got discourage. But I'm starting animation again and your videos are quite helpful
ah yeah I typically aim for my videos to be for animators who already have some experience under their belts. I can see how it could be difficult for someone with little to no experience
its really nice, just a bit small needs more windows were you can see the outside :) but its lovely the setup and the decoration :) i would get depressed without lots of windows and getting the sun in :)
For sure I would love to have so many windows!!😆 I will definitely be looking out for studio rooms high up with big windows and balcony's when I travel
Hey Howard or Mr. Whimshurst! I stopped animating because of my lack of skill in drawing. I could make decent stick figure animations but I really wanted (and still want to) to make some sort of perspective animation. I have dmed u a while back when your dms were open but I tried earlier today and I wasn't able to dm u. I wanted to ask how I can learn something similar to your art style because it just seems soooo good. It is super minimalistic but its amazing. It is hard to explain but my point is I'm just wondering where I can get better at drawing and learn a similar art style to yours. Thanks.
Hey Kenny! Sorry I had to close my DMs because I use my discord for business meetings and running business was becoming increasingly difficult with everyone being able to contact me all the time haha. Glad you like my style! I made a video ages ago which deconstructs what this mysterious thing called drawing style actually is. I think it helps to know: ua-cam.com/video/KEUiBygMDY8/v-deo.html I think I expose myself to really good artists. Both my courses have mini courses within them that go into my drawing method www.animatorguild.com/courses.html as drawing is an integral part of my 2d animation process. There are also some great drawing channels out there like Proko and Love Life Drawing. I'm constantly trying to make my drawings look like my idols. Sergio Toppi, Robert Valley, Mike Mignola, Steve Huston, Ryan Woodward, Alex Nino, Claude Weisbuch...... I don't succeed in making my drawings look like theirs. I think i fall hopelessly short of their standard. But the important thing is that I had them as influences to start with. i held their styles in the front of my mind whilst drawing. I tell myself that even if I manage to make my image look like 1% of the quality of Gustave Dore or Hokusai that would still be a remarkable drawing! And if you really want to level up... Observational drawing every day is the absolute key. It won't solve all your drawing needs, but you also won't make a shred of progress without the practical application of observational (and then imaginary) drawings. Get that line-mileage up baby
I am in recovery from my surgery and I now have to accept that I can not do many of the things I used to do like walking; to see you in your own studio fulfilling your purpose is inspiring too me because you remind me of my self, I spent every single dollar and day on buying Art equipment and so much of my money went towards documents that I skipped the little stuff that made life matter: so I only want to say do not forget the little things. I love what you doing and even if it does not make sense to everyone else at first try to remember God has a plan for you. Thanks for sharing this video
Good advice. I will strive to never take the wonderful every day privileges I have in my life for granted. All the best with your recovery and evolution (I think you must be on a path to becoming stronger and wiser
@@HowardWimshurst Thank you Howard that means so much to me, staying positive is a personal journey; I have a long way to go because I am not perfect. I appreciate you.
I was wondering where you got your light box. I've been looking for one with a built in peg bar but I haven't been able to find one...until I watched your video.
you gotta buy the peg bar separately and stick it on with bluetack The hardest part is punching the paper properly. Animation punchers appear to be ridiculously rare and expensive. I just buy the punched paper but that's not ideal.
Hi Howard I’m 15, I would say I’m pretty good at drawing but lack anatomy sometimes and would really like to get into animation. Firstly I’m looking at your course as I’m considering doing it during a level though I’m not sure animation is a profitable/liveable job. I also am wondering how much your course would cost as tv paint it like 1k with your discount which is still kinda pricey but I also don’t think I can draw on a mouse well so I would have to buy a tablet for it which Would also be pricey and the your actual course which is like 200 I believe. Could you give some guidence
You can get TVPaint standard edition way cheaper than that Standard edition is something like 500 euro As you are a student, the student version is somewhere in the realm of 250 euro Stack my 20% discount on top of that and it's about 200 euro i think For tablet, look no further than the Wacom One. Best value tablet any day for someone starting out. Or if you want even cheaper you can get a GAOMON S620 OSU. Costs less than a pair of sneakers. A mouse is not a drawing instrument.
@@animeshons nice to see I'm, not the only one who can animate on a phone, but can you do strong movements and dynamic camera of animations or impact on a phone (with backgrounds) ? You could try and work on that, no offense tho, you really good
@@Nation_of_Imagination yes i am trying my best and i am curruntly learning foreshortening and other art tips i am making a webseries currently i am taking my time
I needed that speech at the end for real because half the time I sit down and I wanna draw but I will have no idea what to draw or how to execute the idea so I end up going down a UA-cam rabbit hole trying to find resources and never actually do the drawing. Any tips for when that happens? I often get distracted easily and I am trying to figure out how to not get distracted as easily.
I think it takes self-awareness to know what parts of your day cause you to go down a rabbit hole. When I'm having a bad day of distractions, I open up a notepad, and instead of searching into Google or UA-cam (which will send me on an un-wanted procrastination session) I just write down what my urge is on the notepad. I then reason with myself that after an hour (or any length of time spent working) I will allow myself to search up everything written down on that list. It tends to work extremely well for me.
I would love to see you do a reaction to arcane, the animation if the show personally is nothing like anything I've seen before. And I would love to know your take on it
The one holding the camera is my good friend Ryan Wheatley. He's a software developer, music producer and artist. He will be chuffed that you complemented his camera work!
im taking an animation class for college and we use toon boom is this a good program for anime style anime i dont see many animators use it for that style
please react to demon slayer entertainment arc episode 10, wanna see your reaction & get your input on it since being an animator you can appreciate the artwork a lot more than the average viewer

I love of your setup! Its so clean and pleasing. Thank you for your words of encouragement and for being an inspiration to all of us!
Thank you so much!
Way to Go Man... Fantastic Room... Enjoy your Work Sir
Advice at the end hit home
Same bro, damn
Howard your definitely right playing this video games has waisted so much of my time. I still drawing every day heck I’m even doing tattoos. Animation was always my thing. listening to you I felt like you was talking to me & thank you bro needed to hear that. Congrats on the studio can’t wait to see some traditional animation. Much love Howard
Thank you dude, keep drawing every day and start drawing in your animation software if animation is your goal! All the best!
This is a beautiful habitat.
Great video! I feel you are one of the best at creating animation content for UA-cam and turning it into a business!
Thank you
Last word its a good thing
Woah!! Congrats! This looks like it has good air conditioning
Happy New Year
wow what a very cool studio
Love the setup ❤️🔥
"Why is a desk so expensive, what?" but hippity hoppity this is soon to be my property~
Incredible studio!! Looks so good
damn, idk i like having my bed close by. but i also do not stream my face neither aim for creating my own studio.
i think creating your own comfortable space is up to you. it's not actually essential, but i do understand that it can be helpful for your mindset to focus on work when you enter that room.
yeah it's certainly not essential in the beginning, but if it gives me even a tiny edge over a long time I'll take it.
and I'm the type who doesn't rest or take naps until my head hits the pillow at the end of the day, then I sleep for 8.5 hours but that's just how my natural rhythm goes these days. Rooms have a lot more surface / walking space when you take the bed away
@@HowardWimshurst i see, makes sense! i am glad it does help you!
YenYen you got really good animations
Honestly I first got interested in animation from watching your video but your level is too high and I got discourage. But I'm starting animation again and your videos are quite helpful
ah yeah I typically aim for my videos to be for animators who already have some experience under their belts. I can see how it could be difficult for someone with little to no experience
its really nice, just a bit small needs more windows were you can see the outside :)
but its lovely the setup and the decoration :) i would get depressed without lots of windows and getting the sun in :)
For sure I would love to have so many windows!!😆
I will definitely be looking out for studio rooms high up with big windows and balcony's when I travel
Oh this is nice, I like this video, its kinda fun to watch
i really like your hoodie. where can i get it and what about shipping?
You can find it here: app.gumroad.com/animatorguild
it ships to pretty much anywhere, is unisex and has a variety of sizes :)
What kind of light and stand is that at 1:25 ? Thanks for all the info 🤙🏽
hey I think it's these ones if not very similar geni.us/qat6A
they are good value if you ask me
I've learnt a lot from you bro, thank you very much.
Learnt a lot from you bro
Damn, didn't need to flex on us with that handstand lmao
“Very powerful scrolling”
ahh Man that sink would be so useful for watercolor artist
I think it helps to know: ua-cam.com/video/KEUiBygMDY8/v-deo.html
I think I expose myself to really good artists.
I've been looking for one with a built in peg bar but I haven't been able to find one...until I watched your video.
you gotta buy the peg bar separately and stick it on with bluetack
The hardest part is punching the paper properly. Animation punchers appear to be ridiculously rare and expensive. I just buy the punched paper but that's not ideal.
wow... it's fantastic .. by the way, I also have an animation studio too .. best wishes from India..
If I want to create an animation for my story that includes combat scenes, do I need to hire someone to do storyboarding first before coming to you?
dope
Hi sir where is your video about artist archetype?
Hi Howard I’m 15, I would say I’m pretty good at drawing but lack anatomy sometimes and would really like to get into animation. Firstly I’m looking at your course as I’m considering doing it during a level though I’m not sure animation is a profitable/liveable job. I also am wondering how much your course would cost as tv paint it like 1k with your discount which is still kinda pricey but I also don’t think I can draw on a mouse well so I would have to buy a tablet for it which Would also be pricey and the your actual course which is like 200 I believe. Could you give some guidence
You can get TVPaint standard edition way cheaper than that
Standard edition is something like 500 euro
As you are a student, the student version is somewhere in the realm of 250 euro
Stack my 20% discount on top of that and it's about 200 euro i think
For tablet, look no further than the Wacom One. Best value tablet any day for someone starting out. Or if you want even cheaper you can get a GAOMON S620 OSU. Costs less than a pair of sneakers. A mouse is not a drawing instrument.
What refresh rate should a monitor be for animations and video creation?
can we make professy animation on tablet android with s-pen like samsung galaxy tab s7
Watch my Channel I made all animations with phone
@@animeshons nice to see I'm, not the only one who can animate on a phone, but can you do strong movements and dynamic camera of animations or impact on a phone (with backgrounds) ? You could try and work on that, no offense tho, you really good
Also what animation app do you use, I use flipaclip with Ibis paint
@@Nation_of_Imagination yes i am trying my best and i am curruntly learning foreshortening and other art tips i am making a webseries currently i am taking my time
@@animeshons oh, cool go luck
You should review the last fiction
I needed that speech at the end for real because half the time I sit down and I wanna draw but I will have no idea what to draw or how to execute the idea so I end up going down a UA-cam rabbit hole trying to find resources and never actually do the drawing.
Any tips for when that happens? I often get distracted easily and I am trying to figure out how to not get distracted as easily.
Watch my channel ☺️ all animations are made in phone
I think it takes self-awareness to know what parts of your day cause you to go down a rabbit hole.
When I'm having a bad day of distractions, I open up a notepad, and instead of searching into Google or UA-cam (which will send me on an un-wanted procrastination session) I just write down what my urge is on the notepad. I then reason with myself that after an hour (or any length of time spent working) I will allow myself to search up everything written down on that list.
It tends to work extremely well for me.
I would love to see you do a reaction to arcane, the animation if the show personally is nothing like anything I've seen before. And I would love to know your take on it
Sir this is nice ☺️ I also want setput like this
what is the software you are using for the idea board?
Someday.
That cloth is also known as a mandela tapestry.
Can an ipad or amazon tablet be an drawing tablet for animationg?
thanks for the last 2 minutes..
How much was your PC?
All video I was waiting for a mention on that banger chair, it just looks so great. Mind telling me the product's name?
i'm trying to find the name of the chair but having trouble! I remember buying it at Ikea
@@HowardWimshurst no worries! love you content by the way, absolutely love what you're doing furthering the animation community
So what animation tool are u using (I mean app)
Awesome 😎 studio man. Thanks for sharing, very inspiring. (^^)But I have to wonder who's holding the 📷
That's one great cameraman
The one holding the camera is my good friend Ryan Wheatley. He's a software developer, music producer and artist.
He will be chuffed that you complemented his camera work!
wow
im taking an animation class for college and we use toon boom is this a good program for anime style anime i dont see many animators use it for that style
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? You seem so young yet so talented!
thanks I'm 27
please react to demon slayer entertainment arc episode 10, wanna see your reaction & get your input on it since being an animator you can appreciate the artwork a lot more than the average viewer
As an Animation artist, can you maybe make a Video about arcane, and what you think about it?
What do these things do?
He explains in the video
I need tablet and new pc but i cant buy
What should i do ?
If it was me... I would try to save up for one
