Always loved the little detail on the minecart ride to jungle island where it decelerated too much and had to be picked up by some sort of hoist to get it back up.
Apparently, they can't, because those files are now on magnetic tape, which noone has the hardware to read, and in formats no program can understand. HOWEVER, there is a thing called the Starry Expanse Project, that attempts to recreate the entirety of Riven in 3D. Originally, they only had permission from Cyan, but now the original creators of Riven are working with them on the project as well.
0:35 Off to the lower right side of the screen, there's a gray area where they apparently forgot to add the rock texture. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Also, I think you mean Survey Island instead of "Garden Island"; the gardens are long gone by this point.
Amazing work. I remember that even back then, on ultra low res, those videos looked blocky AF. Huge kudos for the upscaling!

that kind of stuff is what makes riven so unique and impressive. I wish more of that detail was retained in the remake
looking forward to this in vr soon!!
I love that the bacterium in the water binds with the water molecules in such a way that you can clear a tunnel in the water by moving the bacterium.
Sure would be cool if the owners would get the original data files and re-render everything in HD.

Not just that but a ton of the rock geometry on the right side abruptly changes at about that time. Spliced clips or something?
Canonically maybe it's atrus writing in the changes or maybe removing stuff. IDK but it's damn near well fleshed out
Ty :)
