This video is to share my knowledge on removing overspray from your spray booth cheaply and easily.
I'll show you what materials I use and how to turn them into the correct sizes for your spray fans.
If you haven't already got a spray set up / spray booth, and are looking into doing it yourself you will find links to the fans, filters, sprayer, turntable etc down below.
I hope you enjoy, and if you do make sure you subscribe and share the video.
Enjoy everyone, Ryan

Very useful video! How often do you usually use the filters for?
I'd say 2 or 3 hours of spraying at a guess.
When they clog I peel a layer off then change them.when they clog again
What filtering material do you recommend for spraying nitrocellulose lacquer to keep the exhaust safe for the neighbors? Thanks. I'm in the States and finding similar looking filter rolls, but they don't specify for "solvent based / lacquer spraying". What designation am I looking for that identifies a product for solvent based/ lacquer spraying?
HI This is the only filter I know of or have used. Plus I mainly spray paints only.
Cheers Ryan
Thanks Ryan, really useful, do you reduce fans down to take 125mm or 100mm ducting ?, also could you recommend the ducting and reducers you used as I’m gonna copy your full set up cause it seems effective, thanks mate 👍
Cheers maty, yeah my set up works really well with my airless sprayer but I don't reduce it down.
It just exhausts straight outside at the same size.
I'm not sure if it would be wise reducing it down, im not sure what effect it would have on the fan power etc.
There are links to the bits I use in the video description and I think my fans are the 400 x 400 ones with variable control 👍
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop thanks mate, I need to direct paint & fumes out of my rented lock up so need to duct it somehow as won't be allowed to knock a hole in the external wall !.
Some suggested just putting filter either side of fan, do you think that would work ?.
Yes I used to have a filter around the back but kept forgetting to change it so I do without.
Some overspray does get through so one at the back would be a good idea. I think this way would be ideal for you.
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop Sound, thanks for your advice as always mate, appreciated.
Any time maty 👍👍
May I know where you purchased it from?
Yes sure!
Go in the video description and look for a link that says 'spray filters on a roll'
If you have any problems, just let me know.
Cheers ryan
@The London Craftsman do you still use wickes contract silk? How hard wearing is it when sprayed onto woodwork? Thanks carl
Hi yes I do, it's very tough, tougher than you think. Never really had a problem with it
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop might have to give it a go didnt really think it would be suitable as it's an emulsion and not really designed for use on woodwork
Are you spraying with an airless? This is the only way I've used it. It works amazing as an undercoat too, try it and see
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop yea will be spraying with a graco gx21 with the hopper kit I will deffo have to give it a go can't really knock it for the price. Does it lay down nice and flat? Also what's the sheen level like?
Cool just don't put it on too heavy, min 3 coats really for the best finish. If you can, dry the panels ASAP ( I use a space heater) as this will miminise the grain raising, and sand between coats p240, at least once anyway. Has a medium sheen prob a bit more than satin
Can you put them in a box for an hvac filter soze
I'm not too sure tbh
where did the you get the fans from? struggling to find 'square fans' which i want to put filters on to pull out mdf dust from my shop?!
Hi in my description in this video there are links to the fans I use. They work really well and are very powerful. I guess using them for dust control will also work 👍
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop yeh that’s what I thought - lots of US based guys have standard 20 inch box fans with filters taped eirher side and they work really well
Have you a link for the filters please
Hi, it's in the video description, it's called spray filter on a roll 👍
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop ok cheers
