"Walking through life with you mam has been a very gracious thing". Fitting words for Errol to Olivia as that ended their on camera life together.

I can't ever get through this without tears... Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland display their great powers of acting here. She was lauded but Errol was always underrated, and that is a shame because he displays plenty of depth when needs be. He also knew how to entertain and make us laugh. The one and only Flynn, now appreciated more than ever perhaps, as the most charming of all the Golden Age leading men.
I love them both and this scene particularly, as the last one.. how apropos...

Possibly the most moving scene that any movie actor and actress ever created on film. Flynn and de Havilland were the perfect on screen couple.

At the very young age of 8, I was home from school taking care of my mother. This was in 1960. WGN TV had this movie on. It affected me a great deal, and although I was very young, it was Errol's magnificence, that never left me since. This remarkable love scene brought tears to my eyes. I cried.
What did I know about Love? My Beautiful late mother gave me information. She told me he recently passed away. She lived through the Greatest Generation. She said Errol was her favorite actor. From that point on, I created a scrapbook of Errol Flynn. I even wrote a letter, and buried it, thinking it would go to heaven. And, all through the years, I have loved Errol Flynn. When they were paired together in eight films, they were perfect. I'll be turning 70, and throughout my life, watched his movies hundreds of times. But, this scene just pulls at your heartstrings. The music, the impending doom for them in their character.
In later years, Olivia said it struck her hard throughout the movie, as it would be the last time for them. She loved him. There is nobody then or today that can come close to Errol Flynn. He was fully beautiful while fully masculine. I might add that it's sickening to know the Academy has Never recognized Errol. He was truly a fine actor. 😘💖😘🙏

Me too watching Errol since age 9. He was my hero and I cried and cried when he died. I had no idea he had a girlfriend four years older than myself! Still don't care about his off screen antics. I only see him as Robin Hood, Sea Hawk, Dodge City, etc. (I'm 74) I have every book written about him except Higgins. Every movie on DVD.

One of my favorite scenes from "They Died With Their Boots On" with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. It was more poignant
because it would be the last time these two great screen stars would make a film together. Their screen chemistry together was
    unmistakable.

When I worked in the mail room at Warners one of my old colleagues came in one day and declaimed: “Olivia de Havilland is on the lot”. No one knew of her but I already had 6 DVDs of her films. I loaded my truck and made a short cut to where he said she was. I hadn’t ever bothered w speaking to my regular route of Sorkin or Columbus over time but I had to speak to Ms. de Havilland. I told her she was in the greatest goodbye scene in Hollywood’s history in ‘They Died with Their Boots on’ and she replied: “I didn’t think so then. But I think so now.”

You know . . he may have had a sex life that would've made a porn star blush but his acting is right up there with the greatest: Olivier, Brando, Tracy, Vivien Leigh, DeHaviland of course.
    . . 'And there's this scene . .
Historically; I believe it's pretty accurate.
'Stylized somewhat but by most accounts; George and Elizabeth Custer were crazy about each other.
These two great actors downplay their roles brilliantly and let the excellent writing do the work.

Although Custer, in real life, was a megalomaniac who participated in a genocidal murder of Native Americans against the background of broken promises, this is a great scene between two gifted actors. The Native Americans victory at the Little Big Horn resulted in them being chased into Canada where they suffered greatly due to the weather and lack of food. Eventually, the Seventh Calvary got their revenge at Wounded Knee where they crushed the skulls of babies and murdered other Native Americans in cold blood. History and Hollywood are frequently at odds with the truth.
