      The Japanese sounds hysterical, while the English sounds like a deep sadness, that you've cried too much over already and barely have energy left. I think the English voice works.

    The Latin Spanish is probably the best one. Not overly dramatic and not Non-existent like the English version

    • @Alias_Anybody
      @Alias_Anybody 7 років тому +11

      Yeah, I have the same opinion! I'm just happy the German version is decent this time - at least the acting. The choice of words is like they ripped it straight out of a 17xx novel.

    • @andreas7686
      @andreas7686 7 років тому

      "out of a 17xx novel"? you are very wrong there. i suggest you educate yourself by reading a few good books and looking up stuff like "Alltagssprache / Umgangssprache", "Standardsprache" as well as "Fachsprache" and you will understand what i am talking about.

    • @rebeccamarie5084
      @rebeccamarie5084 7 років тому +14

      The Latin American version is definitely better in this clip, but I don't think the English version is all that bad, especially in the full scene. There are definitely some awkward moments in it, but the full clip of English Zelda crying was heartbreaking.

      I think people forget it is the first time Zelda cried. She remained strong, even when her mother died. It really captures how heartbreaking this scene is.
      Although I think her voice is too high pitched, it doesn't really suit her.

    is this like some primal instinct or something.....

    • @XanderVJ
      @XanderVJ 7 років тому +33

      I don't think it's instinct. It just so happens to be the most emotionally intense moment in the entire trailer, but also that most people didn't expect to see something like that, not only in the trailer, but in the game, period.
      Think about it, although there have been other intense emotional moments in the series, this is the first time they show someone having a frigging crying breakdown.
      Plus, the ship tease between the two is OFF THE CHARTS! lol

    I am an anime fan, but the Japanese cry was so annoying. It was more like she was screaming. English had good but little emotion to it. French was a decent cry. Same thing with Spanish. German was good too. Italian and Latin Spanish had the most spot-on emotion ever. Latin America wins for this one.

      after playing through all the cutscenes in the game, the English voice actually kind of suits her imo. even the crying in the entire scene tht it was shown is better than wht was shown in this vid. (not saying they reworked it. its still the same its just tht we hear more of the crying)

      FirPtl That was just my first impression, so far I've only seen a few cutscenes and I like the choice of voices. I haven't heard Zelda yet, but when when I do ill probably like it or be so enthralled that I just wont care XD.

      Nicole Beardsley I'm from Germany and not a native speaker and I think her voice is actually fitting. It sounds mature, that's right, but Zelda is a princess who has to grow up fast for her kingdom. She has the responsibility so she has to be mature. And the crying seems also great to me, it's not over the top but who says that it has to be over the top. I like it

    Japanese: Heart-wrenching but overacted.
    English: Competent but underacted. I personally would've went for something higher. Wonder how it sounds to non-native speakers...
    American Spanish: See English.
    Spanish: IMO the best. Emotional but not freakout like Japanese.
    French: Probably the most realistic/authentic fit for her.
    German: IMO the worst. Sounds too old/middle-aged for Zelda. And no, the language itself isn't ugly - just ask Goethe.
    Italian: Very similar to French, in fact I think I like it more.
    The original Japanese actually seems to be the oddball here, compared to all the others. Maybe the VAs simply weren't exposed to the original and had no reference to compare against?

      Meh... that's fair. Japan usually treats video game acting and anime acting as being more akin to theatre acting, so they prefer over the top performances compared to the west which prefers natural movie-like performances. Because acting has evolved differently in different countries. Here it geeks odd compared to the others, especially after the literal screaming of the Japanese actress.

    Ok I'm really wondering why people keep saying she's "overreacting" in Japanese. Look at the situation (which we don't even know yet mind you). They probably just lost a war or something, maybe her father died, maybe her castle got burned down, whatever. Who WOULDN'T scream? I don't mind crying, but why would the scream be "overacted"? No one would complain if the English or whatever other version wouldve screamed either. I get if you dont like screaming or stuff, but it isnt "overacted".
    (And for god's sake dont come with weeaboo or anything now, setting aside the fact that I actually studied Japanese for quite some time now and your definition of weeaboo is wrong anyway, these are simply facts.)

    • @RadiantBlazeVA

      @Yokizeshi 7 років тому +1

      blazefan519 If there's one thing the Japanese can do it's to scream like it's normal without forcing it at all lol. If any of the others wouldve screamed, _that_ would probably have been very forced. I get if people just dont like emotional stuff like they do, but it's really not forced, it's natural (in opposite to the German one for example...cough)

    • @hysuka2
      @hysuka2 7 років тому +12

      I think it's because Zelda's royalty. She's supposed to keep her composer no matter what. Or at least try to. Seeing her scream so... "childishly" is just sort of off-putting to me. I honestly do think the German version captures her best. She's had to keep up this facade of being strong for so long. The way the the voice actor did it in that version is what English speakers call "wailing." I felt like she was more so past the point of crying.
      I dunno.. who cares. it's just some random scene in a game. :|

      Aldair Lopez Es verdad, pero me parece una exageración por parte de ellos que se ardan con el doblaje latino por un simple error de traducción en la palabra "Hyrule" ya que se supone que se pronuncia "Hairul" que empiezan a parecer arenosos y eso opaca mucho el respeto de los actores de doblaje.
      En lo personal me pareció estupendo ver por primera vez una entrega de Zelda con la participación del reparto hispanohablante, pero lamentablemente con una bienvenida tán pésima por parte de los pseudo-fanboys haters ¬.¬

      Aldair Lopez Eso es lo que se debe de apoyar: Buenos títulos con excelentes actores de voz, que en México tenemos más que de sobra (y calidad). Eso podría impulsar más los acercamientos de Nintendo con México y la creación de eventos, centros de venta y demás exclusividades que hay en Japón, Estados Unidos o Europa (ya teníamos un poco de ello en el pasado, pero sucedió un inexplicable distanciamiento).
      Pero si seguimos con esa mentalidad, creo que mucho de lo anterior no va a ser posible lograrlo.
