I remember seeing them at living end, they were clashing with some huge international act at the time, I was into them but I couldn't tell you now who they even were, so I watched the start of the living ends set, 2 songs in I left to see this big act, watched one song and was like "nah f*#k this I'm going back to the living end". They're insanely good!
I took my husband out tonight to see The White Album concert and was utterly overjoyed to see and hear some of the land’s greatest talent in the one show. Passion, precision and excellence is how the band and four lead performers played. Superb! This song, as you hear in this interpretation, was utterly scintillating.
Heard and saw this live in Melbourne this month. The whole concert was great but this track just sublime. I was in tears imagining George looking down from somewhere above. I never realised just how good Chris Cheney is. Now I know and I hope the memory of how well this track was performed never fades.
Same here mate. I was at Hamer Hall with my Mum & Dad and my sisters. My parents used to play the White Album when we were little (late 70's - early 80's). Chris's performance of While my Guitar Gently Weeps was phenomenal. When he placed his guitar on the stage during the solo, I didn't know what to expect, but I was completely blown away by his mastery on display. It was an absolute privilege to witness.
Nice post. There were two performances on the same day: I was at the arvo show. I wonder if you were there at the same time as I was.Regardless I’m pretty sure the evening performance would have been equally special.
@@punkshamrock My Dad said that Chris's performance on this song reminded him of 'Purple Rain' by Prince. I had no idea that my Dad had even heard of Prince. The fact that he loved one of his songs blew my mind completely!
In Europe, Dutch band The Analogues are doing an amazing job. Saw them last Sunday play Abbey Road and an hour of selections from 66 to 70 on vintage instruments and it was a great experience. Check them out online David, you might like it.
Hats off to Rex Goh who I understand put it all together. I remember him from the Hush days. Btw Chris is an under acknowledged excellent guitar player.
It's not about looking for covers, it's about dedicating with love and gratitude in memory of musicians like John and George not able to get to these gigs in this dimension & Paul, Ringo, who, with their two experimental partners, would have loved a band/bands/orchestration & show like this; perhaps at a Kennedy Centre or some President's House in Washington or even The Albert Hall in London. 'Cos these seminal Australia super-muso compositors know how to animate their instruments with better and more real cart-UNES than Gorillaz could even sniff at, even with eight million guests. These guys obviously love, with inclusivty and equity, The Beatles' songwriting skills and later solo extraordinary shows, first from George in a great Bangladesh life saver and later from John & Yoko in various Instant and disposable Karmas and Plastic Bands and then Paul, with minimalist bands, fabulous sonic backups and Ringo smiling and rocking with many, many, many all Starr-ing friends. I, for one, almost died when I saw my London return gets into Sydney, just a tad too late for me, making front row at my beloved Canberra Theatre the same night as landing and, undoubtedly going to bed with the very happiest happy ending ever, although via a Bangkok Business Lounge for a long, long time on way😂. So seriously, I'm looking into whether what ever dwindling savings I can muster or whichever escape from Canberran Dentists second guessing Dustin Hoffman's great Marathon Man "is it safe" scene for real at five grand price points, I truly will not, per capita, have to pay, I will try and get to Sydney's Opera House's best acoustics - Interdimensionally, in whole Universe. Thank you, guys, for showcasing two sides of an astounding body of Beatles music into an impassioned and poetry in motion performance. I hope to God I can see, feel, hear you, up close and personal, with some ghosts in my Galaxy and plenty of tears in heaven and it's only The Beatles because of their innovation that makes me carry Lennon and Harrison at Great Gigs in my pocket, or quote their dear buddy Eric. Good luck, and thank you. And - 8 years on - I'm worried how gr8, rich, raw, and sonic and, definitely, how EMOTIONAL -SEPTEMBER 2023 will be xxx chrisMsimon, AKA Monkey Rocket
You can buy the audio on CD from the White Album concert website. It's like $20 They couldn't secure rights to release the video, so this will have to do until they can get the rights.
I love Cheney and I live this version but that HOF version with Prince, Petty etc stands alone. The only guitarist in history to match that performance on any song is Hendrix.
Tom petty and prince do another cover of this, its very good but i think this is better personally, tragically it has 10m views and 14k comments this 66k and 60, tragic
This guy is seriously so underated ...and his band The Living End are killer a LIVE act.
Outdid Chisel last gig I saw them. The Living End!!!

How have I never seen this... This is amazing
I remember just sitting there in awe at the Opera House Concert Hall. I just witnessed a true musician applying his craft.
What a wonderful tribute to George. Chris is CLASS. Guitarist, Singer, Musician. I think George would be Chuffed.
Eric Clapton would be too.

I was at the evening show started about 8:00pm. I wasn't aware that there was another show that day.

Excellent performance, Chris Cheney is world class.
ua-cam.com/video/Sl3mM1Cvvo0/v-deo.html His skill with a hollow body is up there with Brian Setzer
This guy is absolutley awesome. So talented. The best cover of a Beatles track i can ever find.

Chris is and always has been a mighty guitarist and a class act, love the guy!
To pull off The Purple One’s guitar lick is truly astounding 💜
Great solo- clean, clear crisp. Just builds beautifully
Chris is a world-wide treasure 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Loved it!!!! Chris Cheney, you are on the same pedestal as Mossy. Go you good thing!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great to see someone shredding on a gretsch like that
This guy's great!:)
Best thing I have heard all day
That's was simply amazing. The way he shreds that guitar is unbelievable. One of my favorites covering one of my favorites, doesn't get much better!
Loved this concert! Maybe these guys should look at doing a Rubber Soul/Revolver tribute next?
That was brilliant.
So good, keep coming back to this.
Can’t wait to see Chris mail this again on Saturday!
Bravo, the song is maybe best guitar peice ever written and lends itself to all the great performers
A most Righteous version, thanks.
One of my all-time favourite Beatles/George Harrison songs. You did them proud 👏

Shite he killed it!!! Almost as good as prince!
No disrespect to Prince, but I kind of liked Chris' solo better, it was more in the spirit of the original.
