This was a fun and quick compatibility check that turned into trying to fill the design space in the rival line where there currently is a complete lack of pistol options. I've heard people say the apollo is a pistol but have you held that thing??? Its massive. Anyway, not all ideas are smash hits but that doesnt mean I just abandon them, so I saw this one through and hopefully I can find time to revisit it in the future because it was quick and fun!

My cousins and I were hanging out at their house and we found a more efficient, reversible way to make this mod. If you unscrew the outer shell and take out the back piece in the top barrel, take out the grey piece (air restrictor) and then put it back and rescrew the screws. This, we found became a faster way than tapping out the posts, and it still fires mega darts.
By "back piece in the top barrel" you mean that rectangular part with a circle, that looks like a lid? How do you remove it?

I'm coming back here after about a year and this is one of my all time favorite Nerf guns for "For fun" play. The sound it makes is a satisfying "Thoop" and the balls bounce around.

You can do this by taking a dart with no top, and putting it on the rod to hold darts and put a rival round in and it works..

Alternative, less destructive, AR removal:
Yank out the AR spring through the plunger tube (with a straightened paperclip with a tiny hook.)
Glue the AR plastic to the back.
I messed up my first attempt working through the barrel in such a way that the remnants could destroy the back of a Mega dart if pushed too far in, so I left the barrel alone my second try.
Well, I guess NERF saw this, and said “ Let’s actually make one!”

This is way better than the knockout, also when I did this mod I thought you were moving a jolt so I ended up breaking a jolt on til my friend told me it was the skeleton of a big shock.

BTW if you dont have half inch pvc piping just cut the back quarter off a mega dart and put glue on it and shove it as far down the barrel as possible. worked for me!

Hey guys I have found a very easy way to do this and it takes less than one minute to do! You need to put an elite blue dart in the barrel of the big shock and then you put the rival round is the barrel and shoot! Your welcome for this easy way to do this project 😊 it doesn't shoot as far so it might be a close ranged nerf blaster.

Here's the easy way... just put the pipe in around the pole in the middle and push it in. Perfect. Make sure it touches the end and pushes the 3 points
Jesus. I've watched a bunch of these mod videos and these nerf nerds spend so much time, effort, and money into modifying existing guns, when they clearly have the engineering skill to just build nerf guns from scratch. Why not just do that instead?

This is a very good nerf mod because pretty much anyone can do it
There is an easier way. Cut the top off an elite dart and put it in to get the air flowing. Then paint it. And if you want to use it as a Bigshock again, just take out the elite dart with tweezers. You'll only have to sacrifice one elite dart instead of a whole blaster
