This is such a beautiful story. At its heart, it highlights the importance of building community. Incredibly inspiring, and I hope that more kids are given opportunities to participate in communities like DEVO.
That Guy/kid is EVERYTHING good about people in general, whether riding or not. Blessed to have interacted with him over the years and always amazed to watch him chasing his goals. He comes from a unique generation of athletes in the Durango locale, no better mentor for that community. Well done Howard.
This was really enjoyable! 240plus mile ride-that's around 300kms here in Oz. Wow! And such great riding too! And loved the message at the end- totally agree! Less carbon emissions and more kids and everyone else out on bikes!
I love to ride nights and mountains. On my Specialized Gravel. Yet, i need more clothes with me. I sweat a lot uphill long climbs. So i need to go full packed, to change before downhill - to dry clothes. :-) Otherwise, this movie is great - Gravel give me time not to rush, just enjoy more nature etc.
Donnie died of a heroin overdose. Probably suicide, one day after his birthday. Howard was the golden child, Donnie not so much. I am the widow of Don Grotts, and his guilt was enormous.
I drive and I ride, I ride a lot in every weather, including snowy, freezing winter. I teach my kids to do the same. When my wife leaves with kids for her parents farm, I do a solo ride of 83 km to the same destination but by my gravel bike, I enjoy it much more than a car drive, though my car is a 300+ hp luxury SUV, my gravel rig still beats it for pure pleasure.
Great story. Never really made it click at the top of the sport. Always had it in terms of numbers, but didn’t have the tech or top end speed. Could still come off the couch and beat everyone American mountain biker.
I like to think these videos don't sell bikes. Specialized is already too big (I used to be a fan until their quality control got out of hand). His cycling parts were boring, I like the fact he's good at math though 🙂
Hi, I have been riding mtb enduro bikes for the last 14 years now. I have bought bikes from different manufacturers (Trek, Santa Cruz, YT). My latest purchase is the Specialized e-mtb Turbo Comp with an aluminum frame. First, the bike's quality/price ratio is probably one of the worst -if not the worst- in the market today... a very high price for the bike's poor-quality components. Secondly, their customer support is "WORTHLESS" -it looks like people there are trained to reject claims! I say this because their answers show poor thought answers! Some of the problems with my bike: 1) I had to change the original front and rear tires after a few rides... The tubeless tire sealants were licking all over. 2) Within a year, the rear wheel hub collapsed... I had to buy a new one. 3) The latest one is that the whole frame shows a severe corrosion problem. It is growing all over it at an incredible speed. MY HUMBLE ADVICE... Run away from Specialized bikes. There are many good bikes out there with better customer support services!
@specialized Bicycles - just couldn't help yourself could you? First 11:30min was great. Saw some Spech bikes but it was cool cuz you didn't ram them down anyone's throat. From 11:30 forward, huge miss. You need to get some new marketing folks that understand the art of subtlety. Just gross. Do better.
@@MaxRothFitness just cuz you’ve got a diff opinion, doesn’t mean mine is invalid or wrong. This is social media, everyone has a different perspective. Might I suggest that you stop crying?
eh I disagree. He gave context that stony pass has some serious chonk and maybe too gnarly for a road bike, and then he said the diverge str would help with the shock. it was a 10-15 second shoe in for a 17:35 video....seems fine to me
Great timing for a distraction from laying off 8% of the workforce and abandoning many of your influencers in the community. Probably a great bike though.
More of this please, he just makes you want to ride your bike 🙌🏻
It was so cool seeing the little munchkins at the end. Just loving it
Thank you for this. Reminded me why I love cycling.

What a feel good story. Grots has one of those genuine contagious smiles. Follow your passion, it will always be the right path.
Excellent movie! Thanks for showcasing some of the best people of the bike world. Way to go to all the DEVO graduates!
We definitely need more riders.
fantastic film. It was so good that now that is over I am going for a long, rainy, bike ride in the late December gloom. Thanks!
That is why I make films! Thanks for watching

Corny
He's 30, so not a kid.
Absolutely. His father (my husband) disclosed Howard's violent treatment of his addicted brother Donnie. No compassion there. @@Marco-717
Love this so much!
Awesome, inspiring, beautiful!
Howwie is such a treasure. Great film!
WOW!!!! I really like this video!!!
Great vid! I always wondered what happened to Chad. I remember racing with him at Fort Lewis in 99
Howie and Chris combo at Cape Epic would be awesome to watch!
Fantastic!
That was beautiful.

Fantastic.
what a great story!
Love this!
Wow 😮well done Sir- when are you coming back to the cape epic and win it for Specialized thanks 🙏🏼
Great and inspiring story! Mission Impossible fonts at the end credits , cinematic style.
Brilliant film. 👍👍
Legend!
What a cool guy.
Loved this video💯
Man that was beautiful
Way to go buddy!
Outstanding video and what an athlete. Thank you. Take care, Al

Muito bonito os lugar que vocês pedala...

Howie it’s great to see you in action again. A top man

very cool video!
Look my Strava ! 🥰
Amazing 👌👌🤝
Is there a strava ride to share? I'm trying to plan a ride from rico to silverton and wanted to check out these segments!
what's the spinning thing on the front wheel?
It’s just a laminated card. Not sure what is on it.
@@keendes its a cyclocross singlespeed world champs spoke card!
Awesome
Cool inspiring story! When you love to ride it's nice to see others share your love, whether you're a pro XC racer or just a weekend warrior
What a ride and what a story! Can I ask what happened to Donnie? :( He had to leave us very early if he was around the same age as Howard.
Donnie died of a heroin overdose. Probably suicide, one day after his birthday. Howard was the golden child, Donnie not so much. I am the widow of Don Grotts, and his guilt was enormous.
I feel like Howard and Lael Wilcox were separated at birth...
What is the name of the yellow/orange gravel bike he is riding?
Specialized CruX Expert Cyclocross Bike - Red Yellow Fade Spec
I ride with him!!! Super cool that he’s got to be featured for his accomplishments
sangat menyenangkan bersepeda. mantap.
cool
His demeanor reminds me of Lael Wilcox - unassuming, humble, lets the riding do the talking
when you're product 2023 new model ' turvo creo si evo" launch?

Ok
Then why do you have a 300hp suv lol? Cringe
I really like Howard and the filmning and scenery.. but that bike, not even if it was given i would ride it. I would pick another in the Diverge line.
dude, im obssessed with specialized bikes. if they sent me one, ill go nuts
They're not that great and overpriced. Their quality control has got terrible. Giant is a great company and Canyon
What a goddamn heartthrob!
😊
Put Howard on a tandem bike with Lael Wilcox and I bet they would OWN tandem bike distance racing for a decade.
Creating lifelong cyclists! Eat that for a claim @specialized
If you can clean the climb on Telegraph you’re a stud in my eyes.
subtitles please
I met Howard grotts once
Please consider adding subtitles so people with disabilities can enjoy your content.

Nice commercial for the new Diverge. Geez, guys, do these riders know that they’re characters in an advertisement campaign? 😐
Yeah, like everyone in a Rapha or Wahoo video i'm sure they knew....question is did they get paid🤔...
Hardly..

Yup. Specialized ain’t selling you a bike.

Lol. Specialized commercial/video saying biking is more about biking than racing in the first minute, after they cut anybody who isn’t a racer…

Short and sweet. The dude needs a wife though;life is boring on your own and with a cold bed
