Appreciate your video! Replacing the silicone gaskets with D65 gaskets was a great modding tip. Just did it last night and I can say poron is better than silicone for sure.
I've been on the fence about committing to this board for a while and your video just popped up in my feed today. This video was so well made and pushed me over the fence and made me decide it's time to commit and purchase this board. The video was so well made and answered any question I had about the board, so for that I thank you. Unfortunately I cannot watch any of your other videos for fear of them swaying me into buying more stuff. (Just kidding of course)
With it restocking tomorrow I am really considering it as my first alice board, but at the same time I feel that maybe I should wait until july 5th for the keychron k8 as it will solve the issue of south-facing sockets and lack of via while also adding a hefty full alu case albeit at the higher price point of 200.
I believe you mean the keychrom q8. It looks like a great board! I can't help you decide as our preferences, needs, budgets are different. But what I can say is that you can't go wrong with the akko alice, its an amazing board overall!
@@YBBK Yeah my bad the keychron q8 is what I meant, but after watching your vid and others I think I am going to stick it out for the q8 the 70 dollar difference I think is justified going from Acrylic to alu, plus not being restricted to long pole switches or using non-cherry keycaps will allow me to use every switch and keycap set I have with no chance of interference.
@@neogem200 Nice nice! Just keep in mind that the $200 price is for barebones not a full kit. So realistically the difference is closer to $100. Not to mention the expesnive shipping the keychron has. Still a great choice though, just wanted to point it out.
@@YBBK well I’m going to buy it from divinkikey they are affiliated with keychron and offer free shipping so don’t have to worry about that plus I would have replaced the switches and caps anyways so that didn’t factor in my decision making. If Akko sold the board barebones for around 80 or 90 bucks then I would probably buy both lol
Amazing effort! You deserve more views from the effort you put in for all the different configurations, definitely. Although I think you forgot to mention the lack of a second "B" key in the FancyAlice and also YMDK Wings (for some reason the extra "B" key mattered to me a lot more than north/south facing sockets xD) Though Keychron just announced the Q8 which ticks all the boxes! Let's see how that one would turn out!
Thank you, it means a lot! And yes, thanks for pointing out the extra b key difference, I should have mentioned that! Keychron q8 does look super promising, hopefully Ill be able to get my hands on one lol
@@YBBK if it's open for orders I'm definitely snagging one too, my current Alice board is a Gothic70 which I bought as a way to try the layout and it seemed pretty easy to adapt

I know this video is about the ACR Pro Alice but I'm more than a little obsessed with the sound profile of the keyboard at 0:18 seconds. It kind of sounds a bit like the Loki65. At first I thought it was an Akko 5075s but looking at your videos is it the Feker IK75? Any chance you remember what switches and keycaps you were using on this at the time? Thanks! Edited to correct keyboard comparison name, I meant the Loki65, not the Link65.
Yes it is the feker ik75! That config was using holy feker pandas, Akko blue on white ASA, PE foam, Tape mod, modified case (to allow for proper gasket mounting) and tuned durock piano stabilizers. Probably one of my favorite sounding builds so far lol
@@YBBK Got it, thank you so much!! I'll have to go watch that video and see if the modding is something I'd be up for. I've been in the mood for a true modding build for a while now. The actual commercial kits are great and I love them but sometimes refining the sound of a cheap board is much more satisfying.
Hello I just got this keyboard cause I was sooo convinced after this video. The thing is, I lost the wrench/screw driver thingymajig that opens the screw thingyies. Can you please let me know what replacement tool I should buy? Thank u!
Its called a hex key/Allen key and should be pretty easy to find online or at a hardware store. I'm not sure of the exact size, but usually they come in packs including various sizes.
Yes it does! But, as i mentioned in the video, stabs with thicker housings like the durock v2s, will need a bit of tweaking as the fitment is really right. However thinner stabs such as equalz, kbdfans or akkos own should have no issues at all
Mine only came with one plate, pc. But it did come with an extra daughterboard, tape for tape mod,, and a stainless steel weight. The weight kinda looks ugly though tbh.
Yeah the weight definitely isn't for everyone 😂 I believe the spare aluminum plate only comes with the barebones kit version and as you mentioned, the pre-built comes with others accessories.
Is it me or the standoffs don't really do anything on the board? When I put them in they would offer no support to the plate when I tried building it withoug plate foam.
@@YBBK If you put them on without any plate foam or silicone, they literally do nothing. That's why I removed them, because if they don't do anything might as well get rid of them and have a little more flex.
It's a decent build. However, it has some kinks. I couldnt get the switches to sit correctly, even after rebuilding it several times. So my right and down keys needed longer presses. its an ok beginner Alice, but I recently upgraded to the Feker Alice 80 and its miles better.
Hmm, I haven’t tried fitting tx stabs with the plate. I’ll get to this in a bit! But otherwise, yes, for sure the c3 and akkos own will fit. I believe kbdfans stabilizers should fit too
If you want a more premium option, check out the upcoming keychron q8! Basically fixes all the issues i had with the akko alice and comes with an alu case. Around 100 USD more
@@YBBK I just ordered an akko alice but I didn't see anything about the shipping time to the u.s. do you know what the shipping is like if you're in the u.s?
Was highly considering one of these, but the lack of freedom was a massive no for me, not a fan of the crystal switches or the Keycap set. For anyone wanting a case kit built almost identically for super cheap check out the fancy tech Alice 66. Basically identical board but stack instead of solid plastic. Gasket mounted and all for only like 75usd
Screw in stabilisers don't fit through the plate openings. The top case doesn't have screw inserts so the plastic will strip after opening it a few times. Otherwise the board punches way over its class.
As I mentioned, screw in stabilizers with thinner housings should fit fine, I've tried it before. Also, I do agree that without any screw inserts, it is less durable, but after opening and closing the board 10+ times for the video, I did not notice any looseness or stripping.
Yes! The one I have on hand is a translucent one but they offer spray painted white as well. The new ones also come with a weight. I was told a black version would be coming soon as well
@@0mni924 On the sale page, under where you chose the “switch” it also allows you to choose the color as well. There should be three different options: Transparent with clear switches, Spray painted white with clear switches and Spray painted white with silver switches
My Akko Alice came with gasket jackets and socks as well (both silicone). currently using the socks. do you think changing to poron gaskets will improve the sound and feel of my board?
QMK/VIA is not a big deal to me. As long as there is a robust software (even proprietary), I'm good. I just download the software to remap some keys anyways and forget(and uninstall) it after.
@@YBBK The shift key in the macro does not work on Mac. For example, I map `fn+a` to `{ShiftDown} {a} {1} {ShiftUp} {b}`. It will output `A!b` correctly when pressing `fn+a` on Windows, but it output `a1b` on Mac.
@@bynnyin3126 Ahhh I see, I’ve only really thought about simpler shortcuts cuz i’ve heard those work fine. Hopefully there can be a software update date to fix the issue!
Have you considered purchasing FancyAlice66? A lot of people comparing these two because of how cheap (yet good) they are. I'm thinking of getting an Alice keeb but I don't know which one I should get.
I can't recommend the Akko tbh. It's nice, but has too many annoying issues. North-facing PCB so there's interference, locking you to Akko's own Cherry sets or having to swap out the switches for switches that do not have interference. Then, no actual feet. All of these acrylic Alice/Arisu keyboards have stacked legs to complete the keyboard. Then, there's the software, which is terribly bad, slow, and full of bugs. The key puller I got was badly molded/constructed, so I don't use it. The cable you get with it is also cheap looking and has this toy vibe.
Interesting to hear another perspective, I agree with some of your points and totally respect your opinion! However, you have to keep the low price in mind. There are obviously going to be some trade offs here and there to cut costs. I'd say over all its still an amazing board despite these issues. More and more switches/keycaps are coming out that support north facing sockets so its not completely restricted. Also, if you compare the accessories eg. the cable and switch puller you mentioned, to other kits at this price range, I doubt you'll find any as complete or quality as akkos. Yes, the coiled cable might feel/look cheap, but I'd say its much better than the ones offered on lets say, a vn66, gamakay, or other diy kits such as the mw65.
that mic difference is just MINDBLOWING
