For the Soviet part, even if the Germans had more manpower and resources they could still not win against the Soviet Union, the Germans lacked fuel for their tanks and aircraft and they got their fuel and other raw materials from their conquests. The Germans would also likely not innovate as much in their heavy weaponry due to the fact many of them will not be tested, the Soviets in comparison would have even more time to modernize and rebuild their military structure after the embarrassing defeats in Finland. Not to mention many of the Soviets tanks were heavily armored and their only downside was the crew's poor training and visibility, which would've probably been fixed after Stalin slowly rebuilt the Red Army. Even in the skies, the Germans would most likely still pose a challenge as they're not getting 20:1'd in the Western Front, but they would still lack the resources to fuel and build their planes. So after some initial defeats, Stalin would move the Soviet's industry to the Urals and Siberia, give more freedoms to Red Army troops and Generals like Zhukov who was instrumental in defeating the Germans and rebuilding the Red Army, and slowly but surely crushing the Germans.

Drew lives in California. That last hurricane to hit California was 1939 - it’s not impossible, just very rare. They’re much more worried about earthquakes and droughts.

They are literally a daily occurrence here, but the vast majority of them are too small to be felt by human beings, or even most animals. When we get the rare big one, once every 15 or 20 years or so, it does a lot of property damage, but kills almost no one--not unless somebody just happens to be standing right next to an unreinforced brick wall at the time the earthquake hits. But that's almost impossible now, since all modern buildings here are earthquake-proof and almost all the unreinforced brick walls were taken down (or fell down in an earthquake) many years ago.
