  • In 1976 two British soldiers completed the first successful all military expedition to the summit of Everest. To celebrate this endeavour, the Army return 30 years later to conquer Everest once more. The plan: To tackle the peak via the treacherous "West Ridge", a notoriously dangerous climb that has only been completed by 19 people.

The arrogance of these westerners is so rude, it's obvious the sherpas were being taken advantage off and were fed up.

the sherpas are invaluable no doubt but they are also paid a years salary for every day they are on the mountain and are not forced to do the job. they are there to do as their pay masters request.

They should have pushed the guy with the golf club into the crevasse. That is abhorrent behavior.

This doesnt even count as a expendition,if they want to conquer Everest they should be doing all the hard and not the Sherpas carring all their heavy equipment and this Army mens just tagging along. All i could hear is British Army Men were first up the West Ridge,Sherpas are ines in front doing all there dirty work only for this people to rip the benefit.Shameful

You are so right Hyperdrive! This army is crazy weak, do it alone you are my hero. But the sherpa's must do the dangerous work. It is very sad.

@T - Rex $600 per day? you're completely wrong, they get paid absolutely nowhere near that. cite your source.

I'll tell you what, I'll start you off with a source showing just how shit sherpas are paid for one of the deadliest jobs in the world. and it's nowhere fucking near $600/day: www.staeudtner.com/allgemein/sherpa-salary-needs-to-increase-tenfold/

Tomas Olsson actually died when he was climbing to do the ski challenge. While rappelling down a 150-meter rock cliff at 8,500 meters up, he fell to his death when his snow anchor broke. He died the day after David Sharp froze to death in Green Boots Cave.

What that one guy said about picking up the incapacitated climber and carrying him down shows he has no idea what he's talking about. You can't carry the deadweight of a grown man in the death zone when you can barely stand on your own two feet, can you? You're out of breath after 3 steps. I'd be very concerned if one of my leaders on Everest said that. Clueless. If you want an example of how dangerous it can be, watch the National Geographic documentary of the K2 disaster in 2008 where one climber slid off the mountain trying to get a body down to one of the camps. You can hear the audio of it happening. Haunting.

Really pathetic to hear these Rambos treat the Sherpas like they are enlisted recruits, that they need "permission" to come down when they are clearly in danger. It's the Sherpas that are doing this climb, not these army idiots. They are just as bad as the Everest "tourists" that the narrator gossiped about. This documentary really paints British people in a bad light.

None of it makes sense to me. Why risk your life to set a first on a mountain that has already been climbed over and over? The first to make a cellphone call from Everest? Yes, it happened. Can anyone easily name anyone after Hillary and Norgay or a few famous celebrity climbers? All I've got is Green Boots, not even his name.
Then I ask myself why I enjoy watching them trying to do it? Crazy draws me I guess.

I am so fed up with hearing people say things like "I can't believe he just this guy here". Do they have any idea on how difficult this task is? Even if they were able to lift them or have them on their back, the chances of them both dying is higher.

The double amputee that made it up Everest was a beast. Honestly fuck the narration of this show for writing him off as a joke tourist. He was on another Everest docu show and he was climbing on bloody stumps near the end. Dude is amazing.

Sherpas earn 600 a day? This is a nice lie-if they earn in 3 Months 2000-3000 not more! How many of them are dying every year?Which insurance have their families? Sometimes they must pass the icebreak for more than 30 times! Not on this route but nevertheless they doing the hardest work and without them nothing would go!The harder this business became the more hate cames up-also grown last years!

You are unfair, this Polish "Playboy cover-girl" is not what you think. This lady is a professional traveler, she makes movies something like Michael Palin. She was also driving in Dakar Rally, climbing and many things, she was if I'm not wrong very sick (cancer) and recovered. Not a common cover-girl.

Sorry but the man saying someone could have picked up david sharp and carried him is a fool. I have been to everest 2 times and i do think that someone should have abandon there summit attempt to try but nobody is picking him up and toting him down.

I also like how you call the north side climbers tourists but also somehow expect them to perform death defying rescues of other people in the death zone. Kind of uhhh contradictory eh? Like you can just strap someone to your back as a normal person
I would like this show better if it didn't take itself so seriously
