      I was the same way man. My first experience with live valves on a 2020 Raptor was not great. Ford left a lot of capability on the table in order to make the truck ride better on pavement. SDI Eclick is what turn my view around on Live valves. Their algorithm and approach really tapped into what live valves can do.

    Appreciate all you videos, been learning a lot. Would say this performs close to mid travel/rear bypass setup?
    And do you think will see more people leaning towards fox rather than king, icon, or ads shox

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому +2

      With the SDI tune on the shocks, it performs very close to mid travel. Mid travel has the advantage or extra shocks, stroke and all that. But without a tune mid travel leaves a lot to be desired and a tune is expensive. The SDi Eclick setup gives you may more capability for the price.
      As for shocks, yeah I would say so. King has been working on a live valve setup but has not really made progress in a few years. Icon released their kits but I don’t know anyone that runs them or has some real world experience with them.
      There will always be a place for conventional shocks. This is more geared towards the occasional off-roader that wants a smooth daily ride with a beast offroad

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому +1

      They would work, but I would not recommend it.
      When the live valves are disconnected they are at the stiffest setting. So the truck will ride very stiff because the valves will be at their most restrictive setting. On the road it will be a rough ride and offroad will be even worse.
      Make sure you have something ready to control the life valves before you install them. Otherwise your blue Fox shocks are so much better while you wait

      Yes it can and they have the kits for the Gen1 ready to go. They can even provide the solenoids since most take off live valves don’t have the solenoids. @KeepItDirtyOffroad I just picked up a 24’ base Raptor and I’m really interested in putting this system on my truck. Do you still recommend adding a rear bump system like the RPG kit or Camburg kit? I was also looking at the Camburg front lower control arms with the slapper bumps. Do you think any of that is needed or is the eclick system with top hats and revalve more than enough? I daily my truck but also like to push hard off-road. Been following you for years man and used your advice to build my 2018! You didn’t lead me wrong!

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad

      So Eclick is not available yet for the dual live valve trucks. Not sure if it will be available as early reports say it’s much improved over the previous system so we will see.
      But if you going to offroad, bump stops are a must and if you need a little extra height up from the SDi top hat is the best option.

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad the 2024 base model Raptors with the 35s still have the single valve live valve shocks. It’s pretty damn smooth but I haven’t done any hard high speed off-road yet (truck only has 600 miles on it). I figured being the single valve there was still room for improvement but I’ll shoot an email to the guys at SDI and see what they say. I had a hard time stomaching the near 12 grand up charge for the 37pp that would have stepped up to the dual live valves. And honestly I couldn’t see any reviews really diving into if the dual valves were really that big of an improvement. But right now my plan is to add bumps to the rear and possibly the camburg slapper kit for the front. SDI top hat and possibly eclick if they recommend it and then sizing up to 37s once I’ve throughly trashed the stock KO2s.

      Me personally, I’m avoiding Mexico off-roading. Im originally from Mexico and the border towns scare me TBH.
      As for cost I think the 2018 kit is like $2500. Check the SDI website for pricing though. They have the gen2 kits on there and look into their shock top hat replacements as well to get the nose up

  • @rickf45
    @rickf45 Рік тому

    You mention this upgrade is better cost wise instead of getting the FRS shocks. But what if cost isn’t an issue and using FRS with eClik on the GEN3, are they tuned for this and is a revalve still needed like it is on the GEN2?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому

      If cost is not an issue, Eclick with stock live vale shocks will still outperform FRS shocks. Even live valve FRS shocks.
      Check out our SDI playlist for a comparison we did with Eclick and FRS shocks. Stock Eclick outperformed FRS shocks. SDI has a shock dyno and when they placed them on the dyno they found that the 1 way check valve on the FRS recirculating system that fox uses is the limiting factory. So the shocks perform slower.
      Now, you could make the argument that a properly tuned FRS shock can outperform Eclick controlled live valves. And there is some truth in that. BUT!! Vehicle specific shock tune is expensive. Starts at $1500 and can be as high as $6000 depending on how many times the shocks are removed and revalved. And even then, they will only be good for what they were tuned for, typically offroad performance. So on road driving suffers.
      So overall Eclick with give you the best of both. Smooth ride on pavement, extremely capable offroad. No other setup will give you such performance for the cost.
      If you do it, I highly recommend sending you shocks to SDI to be revalved to get the most performance

    • @rickf45
      @rickf45 Рік тому

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad think you misunderstood my question. I am asking if having FRS Live AND e-clik on a GEN3 still better than stock and e-clik? Stock might perform better but FRS should be better if paired with e-clik because of the reservoirs that will help with shock fade. I have e-clik with FRS on my GEN2 and yes I have them SDI revalved because without it, they don’t work very well.
      I am seeing folks removing their FRS from their GEN2 and getting a GEN3 and using their FRS on them instead. So for someone who wants to reuse them and get the best possible performance, having SDI revalved FRS and e-clik should be the best possible setup. But has SDI tuned the FRS with the GEN3 yet?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому

      No I understood and the answer is the same. Check the playlist. We saw stock live with Eclick out performed the FRS live valves with Eclick.
      Front will perform better. The extra oil helps and it’s not as restricted.
      But for the rear shocks, stock live valves will outperform FRS lIve valves with Eclick because of that check valve in them. It’s too restrictive and it severely slows down the shocks. So at that point the fade and extra oil don’t matter.
      Check out the videos man. Your answer is there with side by side footage

      Depends on what’s your goal is and budget. gen2 raptor is still very capable. And with Eclick it will perform better than a stock Gen3. So all I’m your at a much lower cost.
      gen3 with Eclick will outperform a Gen2 with Eclick. But now you have a 90k truck plus markups, plus Eclick. Much biggest price point.

      Have you not seen the video where we showed a gen2 with Eclick running flatter than a gen3 stock? I suggest you go check that video out. Footage speaks for itself.
      A lot of people get caught up with travel numbers. More travel is not always better if the tuning of the shock is not there to match. Stock Gen3s are more stable than gen2 but the tune on the shocks is still conservative and they buck hard on whoops. The stock systems algorithm does not respond fast enough because it has a street bias. Eclick corrects it and takes the truck up to 11

    • @R_Tower
      @R_Tower 2 місяці тому +1

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      I have seen the videos and in person multiple times.
      One can’t negate the effects of a stock leaf sprung truck vs one with a 5 link rear. It’s a mechanical disadvantage that shock turning alone can’t overcome.
      (Also, more travel(up travel in the 35 Raptor) is always “more good” 😊)

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 місяці тому

      That’s true sure. But a properly tuned leaf truck can outperform an untuned linked truck. And that’s the difference here. The gen3 stock is tuned with a street bias and the offroad suffers a little bit. I’ve heard early reports that the 24s with dual live valve now have a very aggressive offroad tune. So hopefully they finally let us tap into its full performance from the factory.

      No, but they to change how the Eclick reacts.
      The system takes into account your throttle inputs, braking, and a ton of other metrics from the truck to decide how to react. You actually don’t want the truck to take over the shocks because it’s too slow to react and the algorithm causes the truck to get off balance or buck hard. You want the Eclick to control the shocks separately to get the most out of them.
      Street mode will get you the best performance on the road regardless of the truck mode. Trails is best for the slow stuff, and then finally sand mode it best for high speed off-roading.
      You just pick the drive mode you want for throttle response and abs to respond, you steering mode, exhaust mode, and then select the mode on the Eclick.

    • @foru2nvsti
      @foru2nvsti Рік тому +3

      @@mflee1992 E-click is a touch screen press a knob turn and a touchscreen press to change modes. It’s super quick. I think having the shocks independently switched from the drive modes is absolutely the way to go. This way the shocks are running the setting you want regardless of which drive mode you are in.
      For 90 percent of my driving including mild off road, I generally find myself leaving it in sport mode. The system adjusts shock stiffness based on pitch and roll, acceleration and braking. It does all this while you just focus on driving. When you want to push it harder off road, Baja mode increases the dampening as your speed increases greatly improving off road capability. Because the system adjusts each shock independently, the system is able to keep the truck much flatter even with off camber bumps. The cost of the system
      The cost to performance ratio blows away any other possible suspension modifications.

  • @Rommer2258
    @Rommer2258 Рік тому

    SDI is a cool concept, especially with their Carli partnership. However I still believe this only benifits the live valve trucks. The early trucks and other platforms will still benefit from the largest properly tuned shocks you can afford or fit.
    The SDI system is pricey to add into existing shocks aswell, almost the cost of upping to the next sized bypass.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому +1

      Not really man. The gen2 raptor we showed early on was a 2018 that got some takeoff live valves and still outperformed everything we threw at it. Including a truck with FRS shocks. And even with the take off shock cost included, it was cheaper than a set of FRS shocks. You can even add it to a Gen1 with the shock bucket mod and take offs for less than a set of FRS shocks
