I really, really like these kind of Videos. As someone who is bad (i mean really terrible) at building, i appreciate your explainations for this building set. Many channels just build castles, houses and so on, but they don't explain why they build the things the way they do and this doesn't help much.
Thanks Neal! Building is a really complex topic so I try to cover as much nuance and reason-based stuff as possible, I've got a tonne more content just like this! Glad you enjoyed this one :)
This buildomg set NEEDS triangle wedge foundation and ceiling pieces. This set not having these two basic pieces is what makes it an absolute nightmare for me to build with. I tried using stormglass or black ice. While black ice fits in better, you can still tell the difference and its very annoying. I dont see why this set doesnt have the wedge pieces. A foundation block shaped like the quarter circle ceiling tile would of been nice too
If Dungeon had the missing set pieces (wedge, slope, etc) It would be one of my main go-to sets for my tower bases. "fewer bits" is a good route for accent sets, but dungeon needs that full set treatment.
Agreed, I have no idea why, even now, it doesn't have wedge pieces. I can understand if the devs designed the build to use boxes and round shapes, but given the crazy stuff the building community does with every set, it seems like an unnecessary L to not include wedges
I find they've kinda whiffed on triangles and wall slopes for their new expansion sets. Yamatai Tower not having those wooden wedge ceilings and sloped walls has been disappointing. While the Turan expansion has some wedges, they miss on the slopes. They're just assuming the other sets can fill in and they... don't really. Weirdly they remembered with Aesir as a fuller set and forgot again with the Dungeon... I've hesitated getting expansions and other sets because of those simple missing pieces that restrict the build. I'm still on the fence about Dungeon because of these missing bits (and would rather it be a little cheaper).
I think of this set - especially its expansion with the tunnels as a "subterranean only" set. Find a big pit like The Crevice, cover up the opening with ceilings and whatever support you need, build any kind of building on top of that. Beneath... crazy network of tunnels that lead to treasure rooms, rooms for sorcery benches, etc. What it looks like from the outside isn't a factor and the more nuts it is on the inside, the better it serves the concept. I'd love to see a server where the admin builds one of these for Pippi-powered quests. The set looks pretty good with Acheronian ruins too.
4:02 Funny enough I just went with this exact combo 2-times already for a sort of "Vampire" themed castle. Lost Dungeon for the ground and foundations level that being half way into the ground (built at uneven grounds), combo of dungeon, stormglas and black ice set for walls transitioning more towards stormglas teh higher up the bulding goes and finally nemedian roofs. Pretty nice combo. And i am definitely not done yet experimenting around with them. I am really looking forward to building a sort of Notre Dame themed cathedral in the Mounds of the Dead. :)
Dungeon is generally pretty good as a base for any darker build in general. If Stormglass had rounded walls too, a dungeon & stormglass tower would be top tier Glad you enjoyed the video!
I don't mind the set, would be nice if one could dig into the ground and build. I understand way we can't but.. I do like the set, it's just trying to get those pieces to snap. Thanks for the hints, great vid.
I'd recommend trying to mask it and use it as sort of an "internal" system, it does limit it to larger builds but that's where I feel it could thrive more. Take it and mix it with say yamatai shellwork as on the outside you see an imposing fortress and on the inside you see it's true dark nature. It could also be used if you have a large build to create a "sewer" for covertly moving in and out without using the front gate during a "siege".
Thanks for the video. This set is hopeless, but I recently bought the final part of it to make an underground complex. Unfortunately, the project turned out to be hopeless in the end, just like this set. I have to go through it again, maybe your advice will help this time to create something logical from it.
Lost Dungeon is my go-to for building the foundation/basement of my base. The interior aesthetic of the set is fantastic, and makes great secret rooms below everything else
It's an interesting build set. What is odd is how far they departed from all the previous build set designs. It does take some experimentation to get started with, but it really does Lind itself to creating something with an ominous look. Your commentary on lighting was very helpful. I'm going to have to pay more attention to this in the future.
Yeah I think they perhaps went a little too far away from the established conventions. I like the idea of them experimenting, but not to the degree they took with Lost Dungeon 1 & 2 and War-Torn Nemedian 😂 Glad you found the video helpful!
I never think of commenting but i LOVE your video, i love to build oin conan or anywhere and your video are always great its a pleasure to discover new one each time. I didn't saw it in your vid but would you made a video sharing tip not on aesthetic but on what to do or avoid or method in build to cause the less lag possible. I have been ask by a friend to help build area for a server but all advice online are saying anything and the opposite on the subjet.
Thank you Kit, welcome to the fabled comments section! 😂 Building to avoid lag is a topic full of rumors, unfortunately. Many people believe that foundations cause more lag, or torches cause more than radium, but they all seem to be a myth. Foundations may have caused more lag at one point, but it seems to have been fixed, and it likely more depends on the server's player count, hardware etc There's a really interesting study done here in 2021, I assume not too much has changed on that front, which gives some good info on what actually causes lag and what doesn't: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2365946321/3075370188246361680/
@@Eradicati0nn yeah that what i read too foundation, torch and chest mostly. Thanks you a lot for sharing this study and your own impression this will help
I simply can't fathom why, after all these years of content additions and building sets, that there is not a DOUBLE DOOR in any building set. Imagine how nice these would look with a centered double door vs two doors set next to each other with a window to try to balance it out. Cheers! Canuck2099 :)
Double doors would definitely help dungeon out a lot. There are actually two sets that have double doors now though, Stormglass Cathedral and (technically) Yamatai Tower
I want to buy this set just to replace my argossean fortress walls. It is rised far north, just near the entrance to vulcano area. I think that grim look will fit the mood. Not sure about inside tho.
They really should add missing structures and give it to us free, included with the others... The look isn't bad though, I like how realistic it looks like from Dark souls and wanted the cage walls to make a UFC style arena lol.
Is there a build video for the one at 5:24? I struggle with making asymmetrical things and I like small to mid sized builds, so it looks pretty appealing.
There isn't unfortunately, truth be told, the build had some internal issues that made things flow really badly 😂 It was just thrown up quickly to showcase the concept An easy way to achieve it would be to build a tall tower of 3x3/4x4, then build rooms around the front two sides of it, one slightly higher than the other, and make smaller changes so they're not symmetrical
It generally doesn't take too long, but definitely longer than just a regular build guide I'd say. Fortunately, I have a lot of build layouts and presets memorized, so I can just throw them up for demonstration 😂
i wouldn't say it's the worse build set, just difficult to build properly. i still think khitan is the worse to build with, the wall pieces are the worse to mix and match with. again just my opinion. thanks for the build tips tho. 👍
There was a time I would have called it the worst, I've definitely warmed up to it a bit more though. Khitan is definitely near the bottom for me. Glad you enjoyed the video Pyro!
If you are willing to spend £16 on it of course... Which I am not! Even though it looks great with what you have done I will not give that con man my money! How Bazaar!
That's true, most of the building sets are worth the price but this one is a bit more of an uncertain choice, unless you really love the aesthetic and are willing to learn it
yeah i'm only grabbing it because they're discontinuing the battle pass and i got all my coins back, so for me it's only like 8 bucks or so. if my account was empty and i had to fork over $20, hellllll no.

This is literally the way, it’s called dungeon for a reason

Yeah true underground dungeons would be great, though I can only imagine the gargantuan problems if they devs added that feature now 😂
The build tips and general disply of the parts are greatly appreciated. Cheers
It might not be the Arena build set, but Dungeon is my second fav. It has a brooding oppressive dark age vibe that nothing else has.
Thanks a bunch for this video, I've been wanting to try this building set but didn't really know where to start with it haha. Kudos!

Watched the whole thing. You have given me so many ideas !!!
The worst? This is a dream set to build Castke Grayskull with! Been having a lot of fun with this and building purge basses as well
i now own this and the stairswells behave horribly with any flat walls present, it's hilarious
those stormglass windows elevate this so much, wow 😲
Id also like war torn versions of other sets including this set

My main problem with it the round stairs. Needs to be a reverse version. Also not a fan of the regular stairs not having corners
God I wish I was good at building. I'm happy when I get a collection of structures that look like they could reasonably exist.
I would say 1 of best . Love the Style .
Nice tutorial I like the dungeon set awesome stuff
Great tips!

I use it for my purge fort.

LMAO i literally was considering this hours ago. i live in the tundra and thought it'd fit well lmfao
It looks good for interiors but it takes a lot more time and energy to get it working than it should.

The best they can do with this set is make the blocks in other styles
