Hi Lizzy! I’ve got all your books and made a ton of stitch portraits for Christmas. Thank you, from my family to yours... being able to work from home provides more income for us and allows me to continue cross stitching in a modern way that people LOVE, while doing something I learned as a child and keeps me connected to the women in my family who were also passionate about fiber arts. I love seeing cross stitch being appreciated again. Thank you for sharing your gift with us! ❤️❤️❤️
Edit to add- Lol! I guess I should’ve watched the whole video before commenting 😂 I was doing the alternative style. Which definitely works sometimes but I’m excited to try the actual cross. Thank you so much for your time making these videos! I appreciate it so so much. I feel SO silly! For the half stitches in a rectangle, I didn’t realize they still need to be crosses! I’ve just been doing one vertical line from one hole to the next and if it’s a bit slim, I add another one beside it 🤦🏻♀️ Thanks for the tutorial! You wouldn’t think something so small would be so difficult!
OMG only realized I never responded! You've got nothing to feel silly about! There's a lot of ways to get from A-Z as it were, and it's important that *you* are satisfied with how something looks!
Thank you so much for showing the options! Question: what thread color thread did you use for the redhead’s hair? I am creating one of my brother who has this exact hair color!
I love the book, but I had to stop watching this video. Please don't take this as just negativity; it is sincerely meant as constructive criticism, as I would love to see this re-shot for better viewing. Though that frame/hoop may be great to use, it is not good for videoing. The stitch was always out of view on the loose fabric, and the camera kept going in and out of focus. Then there was the issue of moving the working portion out of the camera view altogether. I'm thinking that the camera was overhead without a human operator. Such good advice was shared in the portion I watched, but I became slightly carsick with all the movement and focus issues. I truly love your book and designs, and am so appreciative of your talent and your willingness to share it.
Are you able to use a half stitch for ALL of the cross stitch projects that say to use "X" (full stitch)? Will it change how the cross stitch completed picture looks if I use half stitches instead of full stitches for a cross stitch done on aida?
You totally could give it a try! It'll definitely change the look a bit - especially around the edges, where angels might not look as smooth. But it's worth a shot!
Hi Terry! It really depends on the pattern. That said, if you only do 1/2 of a cross stitch for each stitch, it could give it a really light and airy look which could be nice. And if you decide you don't like it, you can go back and complete all the other half stitches!
