Still waiting for that redesign file explorer
Yeah! I never understood what is keeping them from redesign and modernizing file explorer in order to fit better with their UI theme.
It looks like they copied it from windows 7!

@Reid Manares I think that Microsoft has designed some great UI elements for windows 10. The problem is that they UI is never complete and consistent. Mostly it looks modern with transparency menus, but other menus and windows look like they were copied out of windows 7 (such as control panel, file explorer..)
I wish Microsoft would spend some time completing its UI work.

I use task scheduler for that as of now.

Yes! We've seen this in File Explorer and even in Office apps in past beta builds, wonder what happened to that.
@@c_004 what happened was they removed it because it was a bad idea to have tabs for everything. People just need tabs on file explorer that's it. Only folders. It's like MS doesn't know professionals use their OS too. They pretty much do nothing for productivity. We have the same view folder options for ever. A simple UI refresh it's in the works for 3 years now if not more.
There's still so much work to be done on windows 10, at least visually.

Try out QTTabBar! It's the perfect solution. I couldn't believe that this went unter my radar for so long.

you can do that in the personalize settings (right click anywhere in the desktop). Ok, now you can give up the ghost. Cheers!

yeah, the problem is maintaining backwards compatibility with older software/hardware is one of the big focuses of windows
@Luke Blevins yeah hopefully, I'm kind of worried about how much of a windows alternative it's going to be to windows 10 with the focus being on dual screen laptops and stuff. I specifically don't like how much more of a locked down os it is

@@LightsAcapella I think he means the search interface rather than the search bar. As of now it’s still white even in dark mode, but in for the next update there will be a server side change for dark mode.

Search is already Dark in 20H2 & if I recall rightly in 20H1, also. No need to wait for 21H1 for that.

I love how Titanfall made its way into this.
Especially Titanfall 2, the most criminally underrated AAA game released in recent memories.

@NameLessGO Linux is more simpler than windows, and there is a distro called windowsfx and it looks just like windows 10 and you can of course do tweeks. But after all is preference if you want to stay on win 10 is ok

Because it is SO important/critical that Operating Systems BE (kept) absolutely current. And because doing that, maintaining that, is an integral, fundamental part of Windows10.

It is not the best idea to force us to upgrade to add features, else some of the features you don't want doesn't exist as well of less buggy.

I'm mostly excited for the under the hood system web view changes as you moved to edge which uses less ram so hopefully everything will be smoother &more efficient by like 5-10%
It's on the order of 15% & that's separate from the terrific effects of Sleeping Tabs.

Really loving that Start menu app icons don't have those dumb squares behind them anymore. I use mostly non-UWP apps, so it just makes more sense design-wise.
Glad y’all finally dropped the stupid squares around the icons in the start menu! Looks so much better.
They're still there they're just transparent now.

alt-tabbing :( ffs if i want to switch tabs i use ctrl + pg up/pg dwn. I might have HUNDREDS of tabs open so that alt tab integration is going to destroy edges usability for me
can´t see the whole desktop anymore. what a clean look without all the buttons and other stuff. And the colors are more saturated, so i guess windows didn´t like its colores after i calibrated my displays printer camera tablet TWO DAYS ago..... thanks!
Its great that you are focusing on the design elements and making it modern, I hope all the settings are moved from control panel to the settings app and in a desirable way and new file explorer of course. Need to get rid of all old design elements and make new one that suits fluent design. Consistency in the UI would be much appreciated.
I agree. Having tabs and multiple panes (split screen) in File Explorer would be fantastic. A lot of Linux GUI FMs already have these features and I'm disappointed that Microsoft hasn't added them.
They seem to already be working on moving control panel settings to settings, I think they will finish merging the apps by early 2021/ Dec 2020
I couldn't agree more❗ I'm hoping the old C/P will be gone by 21H2... I think it may be the case & will be none too soon. And much better than having both Settings and the old C/P around simultaneously... Reminds when switched to Metric... all or nothing, not 2, especially when one SHOULD have been put out to pasture a while ago, already.
i also want settings to mature up to control panel's level
Absolutely nothing for a regular desktop user, still haven't fixed explorer.

We (Insiders) spent 6-9 months before anyone had the Update. Big part of that is devoted to seeing that Updates are not buggy.

@@ezshroom Maybe, was poorly worded... the idea is that IF any bugs or negative issues ARE found by us Insiders, they are addressed BEFORE an H1 or 2 is released.

Excuse me I just download Nvidia update from windows update setting.and now my pc wont work it instantly restart and now stuck at black screen!!
Sometimes I wish I was on the UI team of Windows (and Android). I want to know why is it so hard to create a simple and beautiful UI.
Android has a simple and beautiful UI, the only problem is that Android is modified by phone manufacturers and they are applying their own skins which change the UI dramatically. Also, Android developers are free to make their own UI if they want to. But Windows is just a lot of layers on top of each other, I believe they still have leftovers from the early days.
I wonder why apple doesn't come up with excuses like all of you here and actually delivers a near-perfect (if not perfect) UI, I want my windows laptop (and my android phone) to be as good....is that to much to ask?
So I updated my Windows 7 to this and I love how the gaming quality is. I will use it's full power for gaming after my exams are done!
Also: it's speed has increased a lot and it does not lag like my Windows 7.

If that 7 is on the Net, it should not be any longer; 7 is not supported, anymore. Also, your gaming experience will be much better with Windows 10.

Well, the bug that I can't open the context menu on multiple selected items in recycle bin (to check how much space the deleted files take) is still not fixed?
upd: I can open the context menu, but the click on "Properties" item of it will not open the window, in that I can check the deleted files size.
The resource usage levels are noticeably & substantially lower with 20H2 AND Edge using Sleeping Tabs. Sleeping tabs are only in Dev & Canary, currently.
Give us options to use the older style of tiles and remove tiles completely and just use icons only, like on mobile devices.
I think you wor a Win 7 user so only you are asking like this. Tiles are actually useful sometimes
You can already remove tiles.
You CAN NOW remove all tiles. The only catch is has to be done 1 by 1. Rt Clk on each > Unpin from Start. Once they are all gone, close & open Start; right pane will, now, also, be gone.
Make a consistent UI
Sometimes there's windows 95, xp, 7, 8
And mix all that up you get a windows 10.
We don't want tiles we want a consistent UI
Settings is gettiing improved but don't ditch the traditional Control Panel. It is still required and is convenient in many cases.
I just want to know which Windows is best for gaming which edition of which Windows is the best

The in-place upgrade of all 20H2 is broken on my PC. After reinstalling from 19042.572 to 685 and from 685 to 746 I'm done with it. Installed LTSC 2019 Enterprise because I rather live with "activate now" watermark.

I loved the design change and I can feel the performance got much better. If you consider suggestions, I have some.
1. Redesigned File explorer and Quick actions control.
2. Move the notification banner to top right corner, decrease the size of notification banners. Make the design of notifications more transparent.
3. Enable us to take and make calls from our PC without the need of a Bluetooth connection ( I don't know if its possible )
4. MS Edge is super good now. It has continue on PC option. Need a continue on phone option also.

While I appreciate the constant updates to patch things up, the recent or the last one has really screwed up the network driver. My WiFi is unstable after boot or after sleep mode. Takes time to reconnect to the internet. Hope there is a fix to this soon because it really affects work productivity.

This new update is great I know people will say that windows 7 is better but in 2020 I can confirm that 2004 and this update are just better in every single way than windows 7. Great job Microsoft
I did the 20H2 update. But, some of my start icons didn't change. Like mails, photos, store, camera, calculator, calendar, groove music, etc, are still in old style icons. Only folder icons were updated. How do i fix this
Update all app in Microsoft store, then you'll get it
There is a bug sometimes where my entire taskbar at bottom turns black and remains black for like 10-20 minutes then turns normal and I hear a weird SSD noise at windows startup. Also clicking on anything nothing happens. Otherwise everything else works well.I hope windows would fix that problem in some next update.
This is hardly the best place to be giving them bug fixes or suggestions. You're going to need to file an actual bug report using their Feedback app.

Auto enable/disable dark mode option is there? Based on sunset/sunrises? Most wanted feature for Smartphones or Desktops. Bring it as soon as possible

even after 5 years of its release Microsoft couldn't get rid of the control panel and yet focuses on the beautification of the OS.
Well, before, it was rotten from both inside and outside so now that they mostly fixed the outside part of the os, they'll probably switch to fixing the inside by removing NT kernel and becoming just another one of linux distros
They're replacing it part by part. Recently, they've replaced a lot of networking stuff and added disk management features.

Guys, your patches are weakening performance of my laptop. Recently increased Ram, now ssd. Quite expensive to allow security patches.

You guys should add pop up windows, like what you can do for tablets. Allow the ability to have a small window for tabs or videos display on top of the screen and not have the small window close when I start typing or clicking on a separate window
i have the 1909 version, I was never able to update to 20H2, it gets stuck at 35% and then it gives an error 0x80070002

@Swastik Mohanty No, cannot agree with that. But there is a big difference. Using MCT, it is the entire OS. Using WU, in the case of 20H2, it was small & quick, because all it did was unlock some items, already, inside 20H1. Ergo, via MCT, was all fresh & new... via WU, a lot quicker/easier & ended up, ultimately, with the same thing, either way. If the OS is running nicely, WU is fine. MCT is mostly when one doesn't want to wait for something to arrive via WU. That was MY only reason for using MCT, over-anxious 😊 As a Windows Insider I was keen to have it in my regular Win10; I, already, knew what it had or brought with it & wanted it all, sooner the better.
@Swastik Mohanty My name is Drew, not dude. I'm not sure if you are saying there was agreement with something said previously or being sarcastic. At any rate "the update assistant thing" is in or part of the MCT (Media Creation Tool), which I had mentioned. Also, not sure what "byr" is.
At least let us customise it with Themes and Skins.

What about the option of putting minimize, maximize and close buttons on the left?? every OS has it except windows. Not something that makes me mad or completely crazy but i think it would be cool to develop that function for windows.

Sometimes Windows waits to install the latest update. You can manually update it by downloading and running Update Assistant.

The latest update slowed down my pc and was never in idle mode. I have to search YT for speeding up Windows 10.
Before the update, I could run VSDC with no lag. Now, I could hardly edit a video.
