2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited Rubicon
35 inch BFG Mud-Terrain KM2
4in Currie Lift
regeared/locked F&R axles
rest is custom built
re-edited version of the previously uploaded video clip from February of 2012.
Snowrun up one of the favorite roads into Cascades, right after a huge snow storm rolled in and dumped up to 5ft of fresh snow.
Had to come out and play while it was low snow levels & just beautiful winter colors
The guy in the Jeep--Finally--someone that knows what he is doing, great job! Deep snow has been a life long hobby for me, my favorite vehicle being a 76 bronco, LT-1 Chevy motor, 4.11 gears, Detroit locker in rear, and Dana(very tight) limited slip in front, with a 2.88 first gear super t-10 4 speed. Does anyone remember the old Desert Dog tires? No mileage, but worked great. Again, super job---lockers really help!!
Yep, older Broncos do pretty good, seen them out there... and thanks for a positive comment, I try to wheel in snow as much as I can.
Thanks for watching!!!
budnixon Did you use special tires for your demonstration?
Steven Ritchie just regular set of BFG Mud-Terrain, that I used every day
you and your buddies rock,,, I couldn't get anyone to join me on a trip like this... wusses,,,,,,,,,,,all of them.
its not for everyone for sure
Just so you know, the plural form of "wuss" is "wyss"
Not all cause you didn't ask me and I was all dressed up and ready to go and y I u never called and you hurt my feelings so I just sit in my sweet Lil Big Bertha and looked out her windshield and dreamed! I wouldn't have done you like that and I thought you were my friend you big bully!
Man, I love it. Go as far as you can, ski down and let road side service bail you out after the storm.
+freewaylee Pretty close...
"Go as far as you can, ski down and BAIL OUT road side service after the storm." is more like my story...
If you dont know what you are about to get yourself into, dont do it... Always have a plan B for your plan B!!!
You make the best videos. That jeep is unstoppable. The poor truck on the other hand probably should not have been out there.
Chasn The Wind elvis pressley
It was 80 degrees in South Carolina today....but watching your video made me wish we had lots of snow so I could go out and play in my Jeep! Thanks!!!
not a problem, hope you enjoyed! :)
The music killed this video
killed another 100000 views at least... :) LOL
Wrangler is a beast. The Toyota need some clearance but gotta give him profs he kept movin wo a winch. Great video 🇺🇸👍🏻
Sure thing... agreed
Holy shite thats alot of snow. I would have turned back long ago. Great video though!
+thegreenskeep1 sure was a lot of it
So cool! Oregon is beautiful...
That jeep is a beast but props to the guy behind the wheel!
+Mike Spencer Thanks,
experience is earned, not bought...
great video but it would have been better without the music just the sound of the 4x4's in the snow.
thanks for watching
Mike Gosselin trust me, you don't want to hear the sound of this engine moaning. I live in this stuff, and it is not a pretty sound, you're in the same revs for like the whole day
Blows my mind what these are going through. Beautiful location.
Yes, plenty of snow
man, there is quite a difference in performance between Jeep and non-Jeep
Although Jeep is very capable, no argument there - other makes are just as capable as their driver's are, along with the modifications that were done with them...
Thanks for watching!
Love the snow in the trees. Looks magical.
+Der.Stativ Awesome!!!
I wish I had seen this before I went out in the snow on New Year's Day. Although the snow was only about 10" deep, it was on top of ice. We had fun trying to drive in it. I learned a few things from watching this video such as use 4 low, 1st gear. We don't get snow but once a decade or so but I think we all did pretty well inspite of this. We had 19 4x4's on the trail run, so it was a lot of fun. The hot chocolate was great! Thanks for posting this "learning tool" for those of us who seldom drive in snow, especially deep snow! (Las Cruces four wheel drive club, Las Cruces, NM)
Cool... Snow is fun
Awesome!!!! Think I saw some of these vids without the background music.... music made it even more interesting!!! Great mix/video with music!!!
Thanks,
I try... :)
Wow. That first jeep put in some serious work.
+Will Gaze Of course...
engine over music any day.
+shoDOHC I try
shoDOHC trust me, you don't want to hear the sound of this engine moaning. I live in this stuff, and it is not a pretty sound, you're in the same revs for like the whole day
@@0hn0haha 4l sound's good
Because of You,,,,,I searched this out,,,,,,,what a great camp spot!!
Ron Ackerman sure thing!!! What a great day that was to be there
Some day we gotta camp.............really like your camps into elk lake,,,,,,,,,,not so sure I could enjoy the sauna after the warmth. Brrrrrrrrr.
Love ur vids Nik
One of these days... One of these days... :)
@nikorlov6540 You need to quit saying one of these days cause you will never get there! You need to a start saying YES TODAY IS THE DAY OH YEAH TODAY IS THE DAY and don't slow down and for sure never back up!!! You can do it buddy TODAY!!@
Amazing video! Is your rubicon customized or stock? It looks unstoppable! Please next time dont add music, cars engines would me much much better :) Greets!
When it gets stuck to the point it’ll no longer going anywhere or is unrecoverable, you walk away from it and wait for the spring melt.
Seen those kinds of “stuck” before...
Jepp Wrangler Rubicon's only have one limitation, the Driver.
+Mark Billman True words in most cases
+Mark Billman 3 limitations: Driver, out of gas, and not enough trail.
+The Frugal Jeeper the last two are "preventable" :) (or manageable) :)
That time that Jeep was REALLY useful.
In the winter we are use to those condition.
Greetings from Norway.
+D Musy Cheers!!!
What tires are on that JEEP? Amazing!
35in BFG KM2
you guys know how to drive and thats a nice jeep Buddy!
Thanks bro,
Enjoy!
Don't you need tyre chains in the snow?
A beautiful city and I hope to see the snow days in my life
... I wish you a happy day
+TOOMY ALTOOMY Thanks
great wheeling video , but for the love of God,please warn people before you go full blown electric , my dog jumped off the bed the cat committed suicide , give a heads up man!!
You guys are hilarious... :)
Thanks for watching
On the web not sure the reeason your technique doesn't work. AAAlthough Im definitely happy.... this looks like the coolest trail ever. Nice and easy on the gas and nice snowplowing with the jeep. Seems you know the trail from summer :)
Yes, been there many times, thanks
Mute the audio before the video starts and you'll be good.

@klovanpesmklovanpesm
I own a 2 door JK, but in all honesty I believe the LJ is the finest Wrangler ever built. It is the perfect size and wheel base.
+firstdaddy LJ was the better wheelbase for sure... ;)
my 5 yr old and I love this video. thanks!
+Dave S Thanks for watching!
Love the Jeep! That Tacoma was terrible though...
I think my next vehicle will be a Jeep thanks to this video.
not a bad choice,
thanks for watching
4:25 What's that music?
Guy wheeling the first jeep is good at what he does. Nice to see someone take a vehicle to its limits and beyond and still get it done !! And most impressive of all NOT beating the hell out of the machine to do it. Now about that music...........
LOL... Thanks...
ps. dont start on that music... it was long ago, and at that time I thought it was alright... LOL :)
finally a wheeling video without some moron yelling and straight piped engine obnoxiousness. good vid!
Wow that wrangler kicks ass
+1450shunter Thanks for watching!
The music ruins it
for sure
The jeep definitely ruled. The guy in the pickup should have just turned around. "Dont follow me, you won't make it"
different levels of capabilities and experience, we all try :)
Nearly unwatchable thanks to the soundtrack of a dial-up modem.
cant help you much there
chrisoffthewall lol!
chrisoffthewall lol
chrisoffthewall lol
By ugly
yes sir!!! that's what I call winter off road driving
....way to go mate 👍
Yep, exactly!
Thanks for watching!
That thing is like a little tank in the snow...
sure was... thanks
Now, that was awesome 👌 Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Oldie but goodie
That's fucking insane bro!!! 👍 jeeps a fucking beast!
+Timothy McNally Thanks for watching!
+budnixon مخ زرته
+Ahmed Narissi I guess?!?! :)
THE JEEP WENT THREW THERE LIKE A BOSS. I LOVE JEEPS & I LOVE MY "JEEP GC"
They do what they should, for the most part... :)
Thanks for watching
@@budnixon I am sure the Jeep had locking diff's front & rear ,right ?
dean reynolds yes
@@budnixon I sold my 52 Willys a few years ago , used mostly to plow my driveway with well worn all season tires, and it was amazing .
Anybody else hit the mute button while watching this?
+spardo76 Jup, I can't understand how people with a good taste in cars can have such an awful taste in music...
+spardo76
YES
Yes I muted it - it got on my nerves just like watching the pickup truck did, the jeep driver did pretty good but in wet snow the first truck through as it much easier. The pickup might have done better with a front diff. lock but the snow being messed up by the jeep hurt it also. In all a very nice video except for the music but I muted it. Wet snow is nice if you can stay on top of it and pack it down like the jeeps driver did. Good Job....
so easy to be a keyboard warrior...
Amazing! I saw this guy's video of a trip with his family through deep deep snow and really enjoyed it (there was no music background). I started watching this and had to mute it to enjoy. Then I decided, "did anyone else have the same response as I did?" I would prefer to hear the snow and engine sounds, myself.
That's some perfect dry snow for wheeling!
+DJiZach sure was
The music made me throw my laptop in the toilet. WTF.
+Maine Man so I guess you are missing a laptop now...?! :)
budnixon Had to buy a new one.
+Maine Man LOL, didnt know my videos gonna get people that upset... :) :) :)
Ear plugs next time.
Yes, and normaly, level of exprience makes a good driver or a bad driver, nobody is born wise, and i know it very good, he will be better and better and he is already a good snow driver comparing with a million of people around the world, dont think I wroted it in a derogatory manner. He has to be enough brave to drive with you on this snow!!!
+NivaBest Oh, no offense taken! Understood... :)
Experience is important, and its not something you could buy :)
Cheers...
Good video crappy music IMO.
+Eric Corse Yep. Had to turn the sound down to enjoy it.
+Eric Corse Who cares, get a job old man.
просто обалденные покатушки. и погода просто сказка
эт точно... приходится радоваться именно теми днями когда так... иначе снег не такой...
Really like the jeep and the video, please drop the music. I have to listen to crap like that on my kids video games everyday...annoying as hell.
+ktmxcw400 Thanks for watching!
ktmxcw400 mute button?
I'm looking forward to snow wheeling again after seeing this great video.
+Moon Shot Sports Sure is a fun experience... :) Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing!
+Moon Shot Sports My pleasure!!!
rubicon is best 4x4
+tolga erdem its capable for sure...
Truck #2 has no learning adaption to the situation.
We are all students at one point in our life...
He needs bigger tires and a lift
Those tires are working great! I got stuck in 8 inches of snow in my own driveway one time with 37" Baja Claws. the snow could have been more slippery or something too, all I know is my JK rubi wouldn't move at all.tires just kept spinning!
Nice video, horrible music.
Back in the day when i did this, i had a 66 Bronco with Goodyear 7.50 / 16's. When the going got tough i put chains on all four.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Great !!! Great !!! Great !!! Thank you for this memorable video !!!! Best, Kurt.
+Kurt-Gerhard Rekowski Thanks for watching!
sure looks like alot of fun
Sure was
What a wicked video. You guys obviously know this track well.
There is no track, its just a regular forest road up in the Cascades...
Thanks for watching
That Rubi was a beast DAMMMMM 💪💪💯
yes... still is :)
What an AWESOME video. Great traction on that Jeep. Just amazing..... 👍👍
Major Driving Skills! Awesome Video!
Thanks for watching! its been a great experience...
You provided a way for all of us that watch to share the experience with you. It was exciting! Thank You!!
Kachina Lively
a lot of times, thats the main reason for documenting this stuff - its fun to share it!
Seeing this vid makes me want one of two things; a wrangler more than ever, and to build up my trooper to do just what that wrangler was doing!
awesome vid. Was annoyed at that pick-up...nothing like a jrrp lol. but looks like a lot of fun.
+Carlos Abreu some are better at some things than others, and vise versa... :)
This snow is just a cover over soft ground, no frozen ground challenges. But nice anyway.
conditions are different everywhere...
to much fun is had here
+okami89 Thanks for watching!
Musics fine, didn't notice, was watching the jeep in the snow
whatever works... :)
BFG KM2......best snow tire ever
might not be best, but sure did serve its purpose well :)
now that's some balls deep snow machine !!!
+KRN1VOR Thanks for watching!
This is a dream trip dude! Love your videos, sucks never ever see snow like this in the desert
Thanks,
Sure makes me wish I actually camped out that week, instead of just doing a single day trip...
Fantastic video. Need to hit the mountains someday.... although I think my Hemi Ram is a bit too big for trails like these. Lol
There is always a possibility! :)
I stumbled into you videos while being home sick. I too have a Jeep. I gotta say,I've enjoyed every video of yours I've seen so far, Keep them coming!! ( someday a snowcat for me too! )
:) :) :) thanks
past 2 years of bad snow seasons got me reversing directions a little more... but time will tell...
Jeep is sold over a year ago, snowcat's been restored (another one), and probably will sell that as well before even trying it out in the deep stuff... :(
budnixon I live in Southern Oregon, Really enjoyed you found the back way into Bolan Lake.I have snowshoed into Bolan from the main road before. Your Kind Camping at Elk Lake during the winter is just what I want to do someday. Wife looks at me funny, but hey. I got a ton of bike vid's on here if you wanting to kill time .
Ron Ackerman
Time is one thing I try to create rather than kill... :) Thanks :) :) :)
budnixon There is a video out there somewhere of a group of us in knee deep powder on bikes on the ridge's above The Oregon Caves. I need to trace it down. FRESH powder rocks!
Ron Ackerman for sure
I watched all your videos.
Thank you for a great video
Thanks, good times!!!
Extreme wheeling...live it. Great vid!!
Thanks for watching... dont forget to subscribe for more upcoming stuff... :)
I guess we should give some recognition to the poor bastard that had to walk through the think snow in front of the jeep
+Sean Ferguson All them "bastards" were enjoying what they were doing that day!
Very very nice video, good driver of the first jeep, very bad the second one of the pick up, Absolutaly beautiful place. Thanks.
+NivaBest Very different vehicles... :) but drivers had different level of experience
how was the second driver bad? not criticizing just curious. granted the driver didn't look as experienced to me as jeep driver but truck seemed like limiting factor to me more than driver. what are you seeing that I'm not?
@@kawitomtomNOT as experience is what I seen but we all have to start somewhere and then grow to be better each time. I learned some things watching this myself. Have a great day!
Muy bueno, que buena nieve, dan ganas de ir, donde es? deberían venir a la patagonia argentina a probar nuestra nieve y magníficos lugares, felicitaciones! excelente video, después vamos nosotros para allá jajajajaja
+Enrique Bueno Thanks for watching!
Enrique Bueno So you like it?
budnixon...Just ignore the comments from the computer desk chair and their jealous, stupid comments. YOU, on the other hand sir, are living the life with adventure and daring. WTG...I have my first Jeep Patriot for one year then it is on to my Wrangler and I shall be the same type of adventurer as you. Thx for your videos of you in Life. :)
Best of luck!!! Thanks
Jeep - super. Природа - великолепная. Покатались от души! Но где зимние шины?
+Михаил Швалёв СПС... (но зачем зимние шины когда эти так шикарно едут) :)
There are jeeps and then there are rubicons. Have had both. Have a rubicon now.
words of a true knowledge :)
Can't wait for videos from this winter.
There will be couple, just have to gather all of the content to make a good series...
budnixon looking forward to it
That's what I call fun
я в луизиане уже и забыл, как он выглядит, этот снег. хорошо, тихо, красиво...
:) надо ехать и его искать иногда... :)
budnixon
да далеко же, времени-то где столько взять? у меня тут грязь вместо снега...а так-то да, красотища. завидую.
The music is awesome. The last part, dash cam chasing the snow boarder down the hill was perfect for the soundtrack.
Great videos man! Wheeling in a ton of snow, now thats the real deal!
That ruby is amazing
i want to buy one for hunting after watching that
I just hope that all those drivers are familiar with this route, when it's free of snow, if it's ever free of snow.
+Ray Charles One can always hope...
Nice video, those are some huge trees out there.
Крутяк !!! Крутой Jeep Rubicon !!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Хорошо едет
I DONT WAIT IN LIVE TO HAVE FUN!!
exactly
The one thing that always surprises me, is when I see people doing this who are clearly not prepared. Every single one of those vehicles should have had a power winch installed on it, just to name one thing. Have no idea what supplies they carry etc but just watching, I was surprised to see some vehicles without a winch at the very least.
Its all about being aware of your circumstances and surroundings, and know your back up plan, a wise man wont judge the book by its cover :)
and who knows how to make a super shelter and fire in these conditions? and who packs along the gear for this? i have some of the gear....working on it.
@@thedeathwobblechannel6539 so just I'm on the same page - am I being accused of not being preparred here by you guys?
I do. Every one of my vehicles has a kit I put together in it for this very purpose. With the small kit I make, it will sustain someone for 2 weeks, longer supplemented with small game, fishing etc.
I have a large kit that will handle 30 days, longer supplemented with small game, fishing.
Both have what you need for water purification, multiple fire starting methods, multiple tools for shelter construction (including compact foldable shovel/blade).
I teach people survival methods. And anyone that goes anywhere outside rural, should always consider that at any given time and place, disaster or some situation can occur that you will need that gear.
I have a 2 week kit in every car and truck, even my Goldwing Motorcycle.. My large backpack 4 week kit goes in whatever vehicle I am driving anytime I leave home and go more than 100 miles.
Most people do not realize that even 100 miles from home will be deadly without gear. It will take the average person today, 6 days to walk that distance IF they are lucky.. A person in great shape, might do it in 4 days.
Too many people today rely on the just in time supply chain.. even in their homes. And all it takes is one instance and suddenly you are stuck in a situation you can't survive on your own UNLESS you prepared.
oh heck no. just mentioning it , maybe people who go out may realize they need more gear. i used to go snow wheeling in shorts and Vans lmao. survival gear and skills are rarely brought up it seems .love your vids @@budnixon
УУУХХХ КРАСАВЕЦ!!!!!!! АТАМАН СУПЕР!!!!!!!! АМЕРИКА СИЛА!!!!!!!!! КРАСАВЦЫ!!!!!!!
