Count Basie, Zoot Sims, Cleveland Eaton, Duffy Jackson, and Roy Eldrige. From a Special in 1979. The video quality is not the greatest, but man can these cats swing!! Have you ever seen a drummer enjoy playing as much as Duffy Jackson? This cat plays a mean set of drums! This clip defines pure JAZZ. What more can be said. This is what Jazz is all about!! The name of this piece, I have since learned, is "Booty's Blues". Enjoy!!

Cleveland Eaton has some beautiful tone on his instrument. The whole band is on fire. Magnificent. I'll bet these guys could do stuff like this in their sleep.

Incredible Count ! Always genereous toward the band with a guiding piano touch. Few notes but always accurate with enormous emotion effect. A really great artist.(sorry for my poor english).

This is about the first time I had seen Duffy. Expecting to see Butch, I was like, "who's that big dude with the extra large glasses frames?" Then I heard him swing and shred. I was hooked. The Basie band just knocked me out! I was 16 and blown away! Duffy is 26 here. Cleveland was on bass at that gig too.
