    I'm wishing my gold-rimmed E Low Pygmy sounded like this older model. I have the vintage 2016 G Pygmy, and do love it.

    The G Pygmy is really cool, but that E Low Pygmy is another level of awesome

    Really beautiful man - I missed your RAV playing - thank you for the new sounds! I have a G pyg and was very curious about the differences with the e low. Perfect timing for me to see this video.

    An absolutely wicked comparison, loved the examples played on each to give a view into each drums soundscape! Keep up the good work and happy holidays!

    Thank you Jacob.
    I have a D Celtic Minor Rav 2 and have been wanting to buy a second Rav with a scale that will work well with it when played together.
    The E low pigmy and G pigmy were both recommended to me, so this video is really helpful to me.
    With your slow scale demonstration, i can compare without guessing.
    Very nice songs and playing as well, I enjoyed it.
    Thanks again.

    Thank you so much. I've been trying to decide which of these i liked better but could only compare by different players, recording qualities etc. As a sound healer i connect better to the low e pygmy. While both are absolutely beautiful, you have finally helped me make my purchase. Now i wait for arrival! Thanks again. :)

    I have a B Kurd - but the Pygmy has an awesome sound as well - could not dicide which one I would prefer, the E Low (what a groove!) or the G (reminds me sometimes of old Hammond-Organs). Anyway, both a very fascinating.

    Thank you so much for this superb demonstration between the G and E Pygmy! I have listened to all the demos I could trying to decide between the two and I kept saying someone needs to play the same music on each so I could hear the difference and that's what you did! Awesome! You are so talented! And I love your vids!

    Considering how well the E pygmy sounds, the G pygmy to me sounds more dramatic with a bit of a mysterious aura to it. Many thanks for the comparison and wonderful compositions.

  • @voytsmis

    Awesome comparison...for me G Pygmy wins- just no chance for E low...I love RAV VAST...I'm going to order D major very soon...E low Pygmy -maybe it is a question of U tube imperfection of sound transfer...this scale for me doesn't sound natural...lower sounds are very...unnatural...too much tremor...wobble... almost guttural...compare to other RAV VAST sound sculptures...

    Thanks. I can't afford both. Any tips on how to choose? Which one is easier to master? Which one is better for guitar? Meditation?

  • @greenoak1
    @greenoak1 5 років тому +5

    Comparison-wise these are my immediate observations... The low E has better harmonics and slightly better sustain. However the lower registers on RAVs are a little muddy, meaning not distinct. Excellent job on the recording by the way - these are hard to record correctly. The G has the better sound to me. Maybe it’s because middle registers are just better to the human ear (essentially the Bose recipe). All that being said, both are very beautiful instruments and I would be happy to own either. Lastly, excellent playing my friend!

      Thanks for your comments and kind words Ray! Well I just sold the E low pygmy, so I think the G pygmy "resonates" with me more as well!! ;)

    • @jenandfelix33522
      @jenandfelix33522 5 років тому +1

      Low E is excellent for very slow meditative style of playing, otherwise agree low end gets quiet muddy. G can take faster groives and still sound decent.

      John Skoczen they do not work well together at all.

    • @johnskoczen4936
      @johnskoczen4936 5 років тому

      Wow that contradicts what RAV has told me which is that E Pygmy and G Pygmy go well together.... not an issue for me yet as I have to get to know the G Pygmy when I get it before thinking about which one goes with it. Now do you have a recommendation for a compatible RAV? Just curious..

    • @JacobColePercussion
      @JacobColePercussion  5 років тому

      John Skoczen sorry I’m a drummer / percussionist and I play / compose by ear. My music theory knowledge is lacking. I would ask in one of the RAV groups on Facebook. Best of luck! :)
