LittleBigPlanet Hub, the "cancelled" free-to-play LBP game announced in 2013 is still a game people in the LBP community think about... it's a game we can't stop stop thinking about even 8 YEARS after it's initial reveal. In this video, I go through the history of LBP Hub and discuss just about everything we've learned about the game from it's very first trailer to it's reappearance in LBP3.

I have a feeling one of the reasons lbp3 was buggy at launch, is that sumo was developing lbp hub and was forced to cancel it and immediately develop lbp3.
Minor correction regarding the dialogue mentioned at 13:02. The leftover narrator dialogue was found in the launch 1.00 version of LBP3; it was an audio bank containing LBP HUB's sound effects - fittingly labelled "hub_sfx_spots.fsb" - that got added in version 1.14. Weirdly though, a separate sound bank labelled "seaside_sfx.fsb" was added in 1.21, and this is what ended up being used for Seaside Surprise's sound objects. They effectively added LBP Hub's sound effects to LBP3 twice, but the second fsb doens't have as many samples as the first bank.

lbp hub could save the community so much right now, with it being free to play loads of players new and old could all enjoy it.

also, LBP Hub was announced around august 2013, while a leaked LBP3 alpha prototype have it date around September of the same year, so i don't think that theory fits with lbp3 have a lot worked in that same prototype
I wish I could experience the game again, it’s been years since I last played LBP, and I grew fond to the game, I just loved the way the community was, and the friends I made along too. The game really brings back a lot of nostalgia and memories, and if I could experience that kind of thing again with LBP, that’d be a dream. I’m all for seeing LBP come back, I wish I could get LBP2 for the PS4, I would not hesitate. But I’m very glad that a lot of people feel the same way about LBP that I do. I already watched like ten videos about this, and I thank you heavenly BlazingVictini for the work you’ve put in for the game and your audience
well, if LittleBigPlanet 3 were a game only for PS4 and not PS3 LittleBigPlanet Hub would have been perfect between the new generation with a more optimized LittleBigPlanet 3 and the old generation with the perfect combination between LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2

Oh would you look at that, it's lbp hub, the game that we anticipated but still never got.
LBP on jeopardy is really big for the community. Knowing that other people outside of the community and on TV play these games means, with the right recognition, we may get new LBP games
If they decide to made a free-to-play lbp on the ps5, I think it could really work : reunite all the generations with something new, and online games are really working today

Has Steven ever said anything after those updates to LBP3? Or has there only been silence?
I have a feeling in the back of my head that they are still working on like 3 games worth of story modes and creating and porting challenges, community levels, and much more.
I hope it does come back one day, I would love play the old story modes on ps4, it’ll just be all nostalgia
Here’s my theory, sumo was hired to make lbp hub but instead they saw potential to get more money and attention by creating lbp 3 so they pretended to have been creating “lbp hub” but in reality they were making lbp 3 the whole time.
You do realize that Sumo are legally bound to create only what they been contracted for right, otherwise they lose their contract & must pay millions in repairs to the affected party as a result of it
They legally wouldn’t be allowed to do that.

I know myself very well.. I see a new LBP game planned to release, i am rushing to play it! LBP taught me so many things and lessons about life!! It’s the reason i started to grow morals within me as the more i grew older.
They should make an updated version of the whole little big planet trilogy for ps5. Maybe they should call it Little Big Planet Hub!
honestly I'd really like to see littlebigplanet hub ported to PC. Seems highly unlikely, but it's nice to dream.

Best case scenario, LBP Hub gets re-revealed for PS4 and PS5 as a companion title to Sacboy ABA. Story mode will only be restricted to the first world of all LBP1/2/3 and DLC will be released for each story mode, LBP1 story mode will be the cheapest.
MORE of a best case scenario, it gets ported to PC and there would be crossplay between PS4/5 and PC.

Only thing i can think of is that They wasn’t gonn make tons of money off that like they did off of lbp 1 n 2. Miss this shit like crazy tho. Been on a nostalgia ride for days and been binging these n love it. Wish i coukd j go back. ok so i got a question:
i got lbp3 for my ps3 and i was working on a big project (adventure map). But sadly, sony took down the psn servers for ps3 and vita, so i cant share my levels anymore. is there a way to get my levels from my ps3 to my ps4, or am i dead?
You are pretty much screwed since both consoles use different architectures meaning data is not transferrable from one to the other

When I was a child, I never knew what it was.
I knew it by name, but I always thought it was a website to talk to other sackfriends and to share photos and videos with eachother. I was to young at the time to freely surf on the web so I never investigated but in my head it was so cool 😂
Happy to see now that I was completely wrong and the actual thing was much more ambitious and could have been awesome

The reason LBP Hub was cancelled was because of time constraints.
interestingly this would have been one of the earliest games to take on a live service model, maybe they were ahead of its time, or maybe they gave up too early and missed out

An F2P LBP's best bet would be the DLC packs. It'd be really scummy to lock stuff behind a paid "battle pass" system like every other F2P game does today.

My predictions are that Sumo Digital were still working on LBPHub,implementing assets from that game to LBP3 as teasers or easter eggs, but the game was cancelled due to the hack-attack on the LBP servers and Sony feared the hackers would do the same to LBPHub.
Why would they cancel a project 7+ years in progress because of a hack they made a patch for? LBP3 servers are still up for PS4 and 5.
Why wouldn't they just be like "oh yeah... that hack that happened a bit ago and we fixed? we should cancel this game instead of spending a few hours dropping in the fix and testing it to make sure it didn't break anything".
That's like throwing away your class essay (that you spent all week writing) because you spelled a word incorrectly in your last essay and lost a point on your grade.

Hub was never stated to be cancelled by any official source. What if it's still being made but it's in development hell?
I doubt that a game designed to be a PS3 exclusive is still being developed today.

I hope Sony revive this idea in phones to be a free to be play. Because I heard that Sony is bringing his franchises to mobile. The best option is briging this idea back so they can see their results.
