Awesome video Luke... The Nanlite approach to no compromise on features and credibility of their tube line up in this new T8. and for a fraction of the price.
I cannot wait!!! For ambient lights and having the light in the shot...these are amazing! 4 light kit for me it is 👌 sneaker videos and model portraits on steroids
One thing that wasn't clear to me on both these and the PavoBulb was that if you plan to use these with DMX you NEED the Nanlite Control Bank to change DMX profiles, with the App you can only change the DMX address, with a pixel tube is would be super important to switch between a mode that controls the light as if it's one pixel or control all 16 separately depending on your needs.
Good spot and sorry I never made this clear. Yes you would need the wire controller to configure dmx profiles so it’s useable via dmx. I’m not sure what the default profile is, that might be a question to ask Nanlite to help. Thanks for watching
Just ran into this same problem. Unfortunately they aren’t by default in a DMX mode. The control box unfortunately solved the issue. Although it’s $80 and they don’t say you need it anywhere.
@NEFdaily i too have purchased the remote box and im having issues it wont connect to the lights at all, keeps saying disconnected. I have done the firmware update on both the wc-usbc-c1 and the T8-7X so both on V1.01.01 and still no joy, but the led indicator shows the remote is charging the tube. Any help at all? Im getting really frustrated now
Hi Luke, thanks for this extra video after the launch video. Obviously the price point is mind blowing and i've already put a pre-order in with Production Gear here in the UK (4-6 weeks delivery i hear?). Just a couple of questions from me, is there an IP rating for these and will there be a waterproof tube available as well? Also have the firmware updates issues been sorted with the Nanlite tubes? Many thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey no worries at all, glad to help. Wicked you ordered some and Steve and Bradley at PG are great. No up rating on these, at the min there are no plans for a waterproof case. I am pressing the team to add this as an access.. but it might end up near the cost per tube haha. We have had a lot of updates for the existing x series and are now a lot more stable. The 7x are incredible stable I have had no issues with using them at all so far
So i got the box and it wont connect to the lights, i have done the firmware updates to both the lights and the WC-USBC-C1 and both are on V1.01.01 and i connect the remote to the light after turning the light on and the remote states its disconnected. It just wont talk to the pavotube t8-7x's at all. So i can not put these lights into dmx mode at all. Anybody have any help or pointers at all?
Think Im about to pre order the 4 pack of these just because of the price point. Think this would be a great addition to a set background. Hope I’m right! Thanks for the video! Does it come with the usb c to dmx converter or are those a separate purchase?!
@@LukeCurtis Hey, quick question, if I wanted to control 4 of these by DMX, would i need 4 usb-c to DMX adapters, or just one USBc to DMX adapter to control all 4 lights. Also can you assign a dmx address to each light? Thanks!
Loving the budget option here. I'm just wondering how closely does it match the brightness and the color of the more expensive tubes. Can these be continuously run on wall power? Also, if it is bluetooth only, does that mean you can only link and control one at a time??? Many questions still unanswered. I think I'll wait till some reviews come out before pulling the trigger and reviewing these myself.
Obviously there is a difference in power/wattage so there will be a difference to the more expensive tubes for sure. I can tell you they aren’t as bright as the 15x goes without saying. Yea they can be run from wall power or a power bank. I only have 4 currently and yes I can control them all at the same time I believe you can control out to 100 via a single device. Of course hold out for some more and I look forward to your review
I think they're like 8w vs the 70w of the 30x so basically they're only good as decoration (and not for lighting a subject) but I think that's probably fine, it's for someone wanting to say a dozen of these lights as decoration in a dark scene for a budget music/dance video and they're on a budget where a dozen of the higher end tubes would be pie in the sky for a light with such a limited use case
I have 4 of these lights and I'm trying to figure out how to control them via DMX. I've bought the Nanlite USB-C to DMX adapters. How do you set the DMX address and DMX mode for the lights? It seems like the channel you assign them to in the app corresponds to the DMX address, but I haven't found a way to set the DMX mode (such as XY 8 bit). Any tips?
It’s abit of a scam you have to also buy a controller box to set the bit depth and profiles. You can do this via the app. The controller is like another £70! Sorry I didn’t know this at the time of making this video
@@LukeCurtis Hahah, no problem! You're right, it's a bit of a bait-and-switch. Thanks for the fast reply and confirming my suspicion about the need for the control box. They are awesome lights despite the mild scam, so I'll be buying the control box.
Lol you left in the sneeze. Love the authenticity!
Keeping it real ha

Well done on winning one

This looks like an amazing tube light. It can bring your production to another level at a minimal price. I am looking forward to trying this out.
Thanks for watching, was you one of the winners?
@@LukeCurtis Yes, I was one of the winners 😁

Looks amazing can’t wait to get my hands on this 🔥🚀
🤩🤩🤩
Can you just keep them plugged in
This is amazing
Are they going to be making grids for these? That seems like something that would be useful in this kit. :)
Not confirmed yet
9months later I think there is still no grid for them. Correct?

Correct they are pretty awful at delivering the things people need as accessories

It does yes
@@LukeCurtis Thanks bro. SALUTE FROM chile 🇨🇱
In terms of brightness, how do these compare to the Nanlite PavoTube 30C?
same question...
I’ll do a comparison tomorrow and share… but there is a difference in power so that will impact output for sure

dp they really work seamlessly when all 4 are connected together?
Yeah, that's great, but when your app will be available for android users ?
It’s already available
Very interesting. When and where can I buy them within Europe?
These will be available in April and where are you based in the eu?
@@LukeCurtis Denmark. Do you have a direct email where I can contact you direct? We have a production company and would love to test them.

what would be the luminance compared to other Nanlite pavotubes
A lot less
Battery life!?
At 100% 56 mins and at 20% 3.5 hours

Where can I buy these
These will be available in all good retailers by the end of April
