I have chosen to have a lower leg amputation due to a traumatic injury 30 years ago. It is time. Your videos have given me a lot of information and have helped me develop questions I need to ask my team. I cannot thank you enough.
So glad to hear you are doing well. My husband and I have watched your videos and I appreciate your honesty about everything--even the things that are not so great. Please know that your videos are serving a great purpose for others facing a similar journey--thank you! Best wishes as you continue your journey! We'll be watching for the next update!
Hey Jo! Ive loved watching your videos to prepare for my elective amputation. I am on day 4 post op and still trying to deal with pain. But you are awesome and an inspiration and a role model for me as im going through all of this. Keep on keeping on!
Your videos have been incredibly helpful on my own journey. I am recent btk amputee approaching my 1 month anniversary. I am currently in rehab and I find your videos helpful and heartwarming. Thank you for them.
Glad you are doing better. My surgery is Fri and your videos have helped me so much dealing with the emotion. Good luck with finding a great person to build your new leg. God bless
Jay Allen thank you so very much! I have an apt scheduled with a well-respected prosthetist for November 1st, we’ll see how that goes! And wow good luck with your surgery this Friday - how are you feeling about it? I’ll be thinking about you and wishing good vibes your way on Friday!
Yesterday night youtube somehow showed your story-video to me and I was instantly overwhelmed by your personality. You have such a beautiful light around you and I just will stick around because you are such a brave women. I am glad for you that your more-of-a-decade of pain is over.
I was born with bad feet, which meant I could barely walk because my feet were inwards when I walked. I was going to get both legs amputated, but my mom didn’t want me to live like this. So she left both legs the way they were. Ever since, my walking has gotten better, and I have both of my legs. I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through that.
I am so so glad to hear that it went well, and that you are getting help with pain management, its great seeing you smile Jo, {I am so sorry, I know I am behind, I am just catching up on this channel's videos as I just found out on your latest video on Trauma Talk that you had this channel to track your recovery}.
I broke my ankle growthplate, and it didn’t heal right. I had 4 surgeries, 2.5 years of checkups, like 3 more years to make sure it’s okay, and that hurt. I can’t even imagine
Jo, good to hear you have been figuring things out. The elevated limb issue is so boring. Interview the different prosthetists in your area. We met 4 and the one my wife chose was a no brainer. She looked my wife in the eyes and could tell what kind of person my wife is. That judge of character is important for a long and intimate relationship that you will have with your prosthetist. She just got her mold cast taken at 6+ weeks for her test socket. Check out amputee-coalition.org for a support group in your area. Very helpful. Kudos to your hubby. We want to help but there is nothing we can do to improve your situation. Only time and healing will make a difference. As the days go by, healing appears to accelerate. Kinda slow the first 2 weeks or until the sutures are removed then improvements comes quick. The day you get your shrinker, your spirits will get a boost. Keep smiling....We enjoy your smile.
I just came out of surgery from a half foot amputation and it's been 5 hours. I have the flesh eating bacteria and it's leaking out the bandage. The nurses have reinforced the bandage by applying a second set of bandages including another ace bandage. The pressure that's building in my foot because this second set is excruciatingly painful but they say I'm drug seeking if I ask for more pain meds and they refuse to take the second set off and replace the wet bandages. I am scared and don't know what else to do. Help any advice?
To keep her knee as straight as possible to avoid contractures which causes the tendons to shorten making it harder to move the knee when she gets a prosthesis
My below the knee amputation was one week ago. I’m also doing quite well.Sending you so much love!!!

You're incredible.
I'm catching up on your story.
Sending love from all the way in Australia :)
Yay! Initial update is Good!
You are so brave
I wonder if saving 1/2 on spending on socks helps offset the cost of the amputation and the new prosthetics...
May God bless you 😊

You are genius, I LOVE YOU💕♥️🥰
How come you got a cast ?
To keep her knee as straight as possible to avoid contractures which causes the tendons to shorten making it harder to move the knee when she gets a prosthesis
Im amputating in a month or two 🤞
Why did you need surgery for ???
She had a horse riding accident that caused her foot to be broken and failed surgeries made it so she had to amputate 😊
