The worst thing about Deb was that she could have had an amazing loving family and all the money she could want with the Addams, that accepted her for the crazy murderous person she was, but even that she ruined by wanting more and trying to separate Fester from the rest of his family(and trying to kill Fester, but attempted murder is totally fine with the Addams).
Yeah exactly. She would've fit in just fine and if she wants pretty things? No big deal, they have tons of money so whatever. If she'd just been open to actually falling in love. Oh well.
That's her irony though. She killed her parents because they "didn't understand her". She didn't want people to see her as Malibu Barbie. She wanted to be Ballerina Barbie. Graceful. Delicate. (Both of which, she decidedly is not.) The climax is that, even while chained to the electric chairs, The Addams are just empathetic with her. They see her in her truest form, and pity her, because she doesn't understand herself.
Even though Disney movies are very happy and sing songy, what Gary and Becky didn't take into account was that a lot of those movies were about the protagonist fighting against authority figures, not conforming and being themselves. Wednesday, Pugsley and Joel got the message loud and clear.
This is an extremely good point. That I also should have thought to mention because I've mentioned it many times in reactions to animated movies, how they usually follow a formula where seeking acceptance by being yourself is a very prominent theme. Gary screwed up cuz he only looked surface level which is what all racists do. I wonder if that was intentional.

Despite Debbie being a psycho, she would have been a perfect part of the family...loved and welcomed in all her psychoness...if she only hadn't gone against the Addams Family number one value, family. Wednesday lighting the matches as the Addams Family theme starts up makes my day. Been rewatching a clip of that several times a day. And yeah, I love that Morticia (and the rest of the family) are willing to suffer frills and cute colors and Dr Seuss cuz the kid enjoys it. So sweet.

I hate when people state that one movie is better than the other. They are both together in their greatness... They both go hand in hand and have great plots and great casts and directors... You can't have one without the other, but at the same time you can have one and still get it.

In my opinion, Joan Cusack's Debbie was the MVP in this. This solidified her as a campy, iconic legend. Even just from a performance standard, all of her choices and deliveries were inspired and SO expertly executed. (Pun intended). That entire ending monologue with her slideshow is one of my top favorite movie clips of all time.

There was a movie and the movie was supposed to promote the show. Both were terrible! But to this day Canadians do remember watching the show and enjoying it... I feel only bc the actor they picked for Gomez was actually good. But not for the movie, all cast was just terrible!

The editing is on point with this sequel. The jokes land extremely well because of the excellent timing of the zooms, smash cuts, just everything.

They did that to show that nobody was actually killed at the camp. Wednesday wasn't out to kill anyone. She did what she did as a warning.
