The thing I love about real country singers like waylon is there live versions are so energetic and still kick ass even if they don't match the album version
Waymore would have been 83 today. You want REAL country music? Here it is-with the late, great Ralph Mooney on steel.Song written by Billy Joe Shaver.Turn it up!!
Hoss wrote the book on being an outlaw, singing and being a Telecaster master. Nothing new or old with a very few exceptions could hold a candle to him. God bless Waylon 😁❤👍
Not a Texas song but Phoenix, Arizona where the Green Gables Restaurant was and Waylon played at a bar in Tempe along the Salt River, I think, by night. I heard him play there when I was in college. Just Waylon and perhaps one or two backup musicians and a packed small crowd and we all knew he was the best musician we’d ever heard. Must have been 1968 as I had turned 21 and was drinking a Bacardi Cocktail.
@@denofabsurdity I’m pretty sure it was the Green Gables at about 16th St and Camelback in Phoenix long ago. At prom evening lots of teen would eat before prom at Green Gables (in the 1960’s) as it was a very fancy place. I and a date went there for prom once.
Am I the first to catch he missed or skipped the “Neon Light Nights..” line?.. That’s 16 bars of Billy Joe Shaver’s perfect story that should be heard.

I really do miss this ole boy, and George, Buck, Charlie, and of course ole Ernest.
And johnny cash too
And we’ll miss Willie when he’s gone
❤. Rest in Peace 🕊️🕊️ Waylon Jennings ❤
❤❤. I Love. Waylon Jennings ❤❤
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate Ol' Mooney picking & peddling on that steel! This one always gets me going. God bless'em all!
how does he make it look so easy...legend
Just like Larry Bird never will be another of either
I love Waylon Jennings’ voice
The king of country twang
❤. I Love Waylon Jennings ❤

HOW IS THE CROWD SILENT?!?!!? ID BE KICKED OUT BY THE 2ND VERSE
Perfection! Makes me burst with adrenaline every single time I hear it!
A true country outlaw not like the new age wannabes that think they are outlaws
Idk there are some good ones..
Another great Billy Joe Shaver song
Love me some Waylon!
Me too man me too
The best kind of music! 🇮🇪
My favorite Waymore song.

I thought I heard Billy Joe Shaver say that "Green Gables" was a honky tonk that his mother worked at in Waco, TX ...

No, this song was by Billy Joe Shaver about a bar in Texas
Billy Joe Shaver wrote this song.
The HOSS!
He's alive
Billy Joe Shavers good writing

Waylon did it alot. Especially "Are you sure Hank done it this way?" was probably never done with full lyrics live :D
Amphetimines, long nights and old age will do it ya.
@@Bryzgyman yea he usually made the songs shorter during his live performances
@@Roystothecoolkid I can't say I blame him given the intense touring schedule and constant hard drug use he had at the time.
I don’t recall many Waylon performances when he included those bars. He skipped them most of the time.
Anyone else prefer this to the album version?
Anyone know the pedal steel player
I love Waylon but Billy Joe Shaver was a better song writer, in my opinion. There wouldn’t be a Honky Tonk Heroes without BJS.
