    "I can forgive you"
Gets me every time, they let it develop from the first time we saw him to this point. One of the many many great moments...and G`Kar owns most of them.

it's one of the greatest scenes of the show filled with great scenes, imo. It is played well on many levels. In some ways, I think it parallels the drink G'kar got for Londo in Coming of Shadows, once again, with Londo knowing something he can't tell G'Kar.

Those "just skip season five" people are robbing themselves of the full trajectory of Londo and G'kar's arc, and that's just sad.

Remember: the Minbari have their own sense of honor. Delenn lied about not hearing Lennier and he knows this. He lied about not saying anything, and Delenn knows this. If he is openly professing his love, he is creating problems for them both, so they're lying to protect each other's honor. Should he be doing this to begin with? No. But both their action make sense from their perspective of maintaining status within their society.

The Drakh are now in charge of Centauri Prime. Londos walk to the ceremony and the montage was very well done.

Quite an under-reaction to one of the greatest scenes Andreas and Peter did in the series and one of the most powerful scenes in the entire series. Brings me to tears every time I see it in contrast.

I think this episode is one which I think in a second viewing of the series works much better, as I really like this one, and doesn't feel redundant, but rather, it completes the tragedy of Londo. And the books really fill in the blanks much more. Things are not exactly as they appear, as is normal with B5. I mean, wait until you learn who Vir marries...

I know it was cut, but when the Regent tells Londo that he can blame him for everything, and he is ok with it, and ends it by saying I am Centauri and I am not afraid, I always go back to season 1. When Londo drunkly, and enthuastically, declares Centauri are always on duty, so they have to make pleasure a duty of their's.
In season 1, I take it as Londo became a decadent baffoon; but here in season 5, I take it as commitment to no regrets. If someone has to give their life for the Centauri Republic, they will not spend a moment saying, "if only I had more time" or "let me do this one thing first."

Mega.... Bro.... "Just okay"? Redundant? I mean there's a time to put emphasis on the story, and a time to put emphasis on the performance. In all of their careers, this was probably the finest 3 minutes of performance in the lives of Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurasik. If any of us were to remember any of the work of these fine men, this is it.

JMS has said most of the books should be considered apocryphal. I don't like it anymore than others because the Technomage trilogy and Centauri trilogy were awesome series. The Psi Corps trilogy was meh, but it did its job.

Yes, the Treaty of Versailles was the basis of what led to WWII. Because nothing is more dangerous than a humiliated, undignified nation. THe Treaty of Versailles led to the Backstab Legend and instable economy. And the instable economy led to destruction of the middle class by hyperinflation and Great Depression, which again led to the rise of fascism and the abolishment of democracy. And all the same is happening again today, but further in the East.

    • @zarabada6125
      @zarabada6125 23 дні тому +5

The Treaty of Versailles wasn't particularly harsh compared to the Brest Litovsk treaty the Germans imposed on the Russians in 1918. Russia lost territory containing a quarter of its population and nine tenths of its coal mines.
The key problem with Versailles is that the allies allowed the myth of its harshness to fester along with the fantasy that the German army hadn't been defeated.
The decision to end the war before marching into Germany allowed fringe groups like the Nazis to spin the story to their benefit.
We see Londo doing much the same here under the keeper's influence. The truth of a situation matters less than the narrative you feed your audience.

Feels like a series that doesn't know where it's going. Starting some threads for possible future projects. I'm just happy JMS makes sure to tidy some previous stuff away and give us a few of the moments we need and a few we knew were coming but dreaded....Londo getting his keeper being a big one of those.

G'Kar forgiving Londo, Londo sacrificing himself for his people, and Lennier being King Of The Simps. Yeah we all knew this was all going to happen so it might feel a bit anticlimactic, because we've been expecting these moments for years. But someone was cutting onions round here with the last G'Kar/Londo scene, and Londo's walk alone in the white suit...

  • @GuardianOwl

If you keep watching Babylon 5 related content, you will eventually run into more Technomage content. There's also a canon book trilogy about them. I really liked the first book as it has a lot of world building lore about their culture, but book 2 and 3 were kind of so-so.

Advice - before watching the last episode try to at least obtain and read a synopsis of the Legions of Fire book trilogy - per JMS they are canon and will fill in some blanks that enhance the finale.
