There's a great need being accomplished here. I had a Great Dane - Mastiff, which had continued yeast infections in it's ears. The cropping was not accomplished for him, before we rescued the dog. This big gentle soul was haunted by constant infection because the ears were not dry, as cropping facilitates air circulation to help kill yeast. Thanks for this instruction, much needed education.
I doubt non-cropped ears can cause any complications, look at dogs with flopped (sometimes also HUGE) ears, they all are healthy in general. Cropping is merely for making a dog "fancy" in the majority of cases.
@@ratratte Floppy eared dogs *do* suffer from more ear related health issues than prick-eared dogs, though. Ever seen a dog with an aural hematoma? It’s horrific. My house looked like a crime scene and the slightest bump would open it back up again- and ears will bleed for HOURS, then they shake. To this day I’m still finding the occasional blood droplet on my ceiling. My floppy eared dogs also get more ear infections than my prick eared and cropped dogs. There’s a reason you don’t see floppy eared canines in nature.
@@ratratte let’s not forget floppy ears are not normal. Floppy ears were bred in to dogs to make them look “cuter”. Floppy ears do in fact cause many more issues then uncropped ears.

Thank you, I found your video VERY useful. I have Dobermans (and no, they don't just sit there like that pup!) and I was having trouble with the bottom of the stay popping out. Your video helped me fix the problem. Thank you.
Wow she’s such a good girl! 😍😍 thank you for this video. I just ordered the materials you mentioned. Need to wait one more week to begin as my pups ear crop was done about a week ago. Thanks again for the video
I have 4 mnths greatdane male puppy..but she's doesn't shout even 1 time also...and any times she's sleep🤦♂️🤦♂️what is the month the dog is shouted to start rply me sir
My vet has me twisting the ear then taping it twisted. I have searched and searched for anyone else doing this. He says the twist keeps the ear from creasing... but once take down the ear looks twisted...obviously. He has cut another dogs ear for me and there great. But I tape them and did what this video says. Anyone out there with any input.
I have a 3 month dane puppy that was cropped at 8 weeks. The vet tapes his ears similar to this video. I've never heard about twisting the ears but that doesn't seem right. Good luck to you!
Thanks very much for this Steve! Much clearer and not as rushed as some other videos. My girl is 17 weeks now and my first cropped puppy, and I have NO experienced local help. We keep running into issues with the bottom of the rod popping out of the bell, as well as her ears just being GROSS by the time we take the rods out (max 3 days!). Any suggestions other than Gold Bond?
How do you know when the ear won’t stand on their own and to stop posting. Had my Dane cropped at 7 weeks as well and now he’s 12 weeks and they do not stand on their own.
Wtf is wrong with you people! Why is this necessary, does the animals have any say in this! Lol Stop abusing animals for your benefits . They don't hear any better with their ears propped up.

One of most disciplined dog I have ever seen and she is just a baby... Perfect behavior.. never panicked in the entire video...
Hey Steve, you should probably make more videos. Seven years later this video is top-tier! And I would love to see her ears now.
Hey steave ur dog is very calm

What a cute puppy! Like "Zephyr", Neet's Whirlwind Romance.

Thank you! Great video! And awesome assistant!
Thank you for posting this!!
Hi, Steve! Thanks a lot for yr experience! Pls advise, what kind of alcohol you use for cleaning ears before taping?

How long do i leave it on for? And does it actually work? Because i’m trying this on my 12 weeks old puppy
Very nice nd detailed demonstration....nd great patience shown by the pup. 🙏
Would vet wrap work in place of the paper tape?
How long this prosess takes to get ears ready?
Great instructional video and what a good baby!
Do you still provide this service? If so where are you located?
I would love to see what she looks like now. She is gorgeous!!!
My street dog naturally having straight ears👍👍

How many days tapping like this
Another name for great dane is gentle giant
How many days removed
Will this method work on my 11month old amstaff?
No it will not work if more than 8 months

After how many days we can remove it
Hey did it work and how long did you leave it on for?
5 days or 1 week
As you wish
Why. Would you cut her ears in the first place?

WHY?
How do you know when the ear won’t stand on their own and to stop posting. Had my Dane cropped at 7 weeks as well and now he’s 12 weeks and they do not stand on their own.
You're in for a looonnggg process, it can take from 6 months to 1 years or more.
Has anyone tried it?
Calm pup 😘
After re-taping how log do you leave it for?
5 days, repeat the process.
How many times do you need to do this before you stop? Great job by the way, thanks Steve.
Keither this is my question, as well
Ive heard that you stop when the ears stand erect on their own when the dog is alert
Hi, did you say remove after 5 days, then after 12 hours re-tape? So for how long should this be done?
Thanks
Good question, I’ve been tapping mine for almost 7 months now and they still get droopy. I’m about ready to give up.
@@Homefree18 how olds your dog, 7 months is too long
Lovely girl. Lovely crop 🧡🧡🧡
.... but why do they crop it??
@@thederpybritishpug1618 yeah i wonder why
background dogs are saying "can ya hear me"
Do you have to crop your great danes ears in order to tape them up or can you just tape their ears up and they'll still stand
You have to crop; they won’t stand on their own.
until what age can this be done to ?
13 weeks
After how much days it should be removed
1 week
5 days
So 12hrs taped then not taped for 5 days?
No. typically taped for 5-7 days then he says untape for 12 hours. I leave my pup's ears untaped for 24 hours then tape again for 5-7 days.
How long do i leave it on for?
6-12 weeks !
Thanks sir
Nice information
I think it looks cool but they’re cuter with there big hangy ears
why??
To help the ears stand.
I want one puppy of this

How about leaving the poor dog to have natural ears - god forbid
It's already cropped nothing you can say now will do anything. Move on.
Explain the point of this?
To make your dog look "cool"?
Pretty much. People say it's for health benefits, but it's not. That's just a way for them to make it look good.
It’s animal abuse
Just so ears stand up. Not worth it.
Then don't do it, it's worth it to others.
Wtf is wrong with you people! Why is this necessary, does the animals have any say in this! Lol
Stop abusing animals for your benefits .

Agreed. It’s for breed standards and i hate it
very bad
