Did you know that Germnay once colonized a part of China? From 1898 until 1914 Qingdao, a coastal city at Chinas north east coast was seized by Germany.
In this video you will get an insight on how the city now looks like and what heritages the Germans left.
Qingdao now has a population of about 6 million in the whole urban area.
I loved this city a lot and can only recommend to visit this place.
Qingdao during the current situation in China was still very interesting. I had luck to find an awesome hostel there. (Maizi Youth Hostel)

山东 province is abbreviated as 鲁。In Warring States Period (476-221 BCE), 山东 had two major states:齐 and 鲁. 山东 therefore is now called the land of 齐 and 鲁。齐 was stronger than 鲁。齐 was of the Seven Powers at that time, and 鲁 was not. The reason 山东 is abbreviated as 鲁 is because 鲁 is the hometown of Master Confucius. It shows the significance of Confucius in Chinese culture.
鲁 standing for Shandong is because in the period of 战国, most areas of Shandong was 鲁国，which is one of the seven powerful states in 战国。

Which part of the town was the last part at ?
That was quite in the city center. If you are going to Qingdao you will find it easily while walking around its older (main) part. :D
okay this city was given to Japan at the end of WWII. My question is when did it go back to China? And what about Hong Kong?
I think Japan took it over from Germany at the beginning of WW1 in 1914.
Qingdao was given to China after the end of WW2 and the defeat of Japan, I suppose, so around 1945.

Coming from Germany and being used to German prices, yes.
But indeed with average Chinese salaries it is less cheap, but still affordable I would day.
How to apply a tourists visa from Philippines to shandong qingdao china?
Good question. I would suggest check at the Chinese embassy or a consulate in the Philippines. Usually a tourist visa can be applied and approved quite fast. Now due to Covid it might not be possible to go to China at all. I think China is really strict on its entry policies currently.

@@EnricoCordes “鲁莽” means reckless but “鲁” is never used alone as “stupid”. We will never say, “他很鲁”。It doesn't make sense. This might be different from what you can find in a dictionary. Let me teach you a character “彪”. It means stupid in quite some areas of Northern China including Qingdao.

Why has it got two different spellings? I know that's how they write the 🍺 but total different spelling for the place - but both sound the same... It's probably the least polluted city in all of (north East) China 🐼
