Why the Big Island is Our Favorite Place in Hawaii

- In this video, we kick-off our big adventure by visiting the largest Hawaiian island, also known as The Big Island. We swim and snorkel in various beaches, climb mountains, and marvel at the volcanic glory that makes up this magical place.
I’ve been to this Island at least 5 times and it’s beautiful.
Heading there in a couple weeks for our third trip, start to feel like a kid before Christmas. Just can’t wait 🤙🇨🇦

Stayed for a week back in the 90's. Stayed one night in a tree house in Waipio valley which was amazing. Hiked to Green lake which is no more. Mana road, Green sand beach, Volcanoes park, lava tubes are all worth seeing.

Hey! Totally random but what camera and lens did you use for the lava shots? I'm trying to figure out what gear to take with me. Thank you!
I had to ask my husband for this, he says, Sony a6300, video settings were ƒ/1.8
1/50 ISO3200. We used our Sony 35mm prime for video. For our manual focus lens, which we used to capture some milky way photos, we used a 12mm Rokinon manual focus lens, using f/2.0 8s ISO800.

You mentioned you did the waipo valley hike in 48 minutes (23 + 25). The hike is supposed to be 3 miles with a 25-degree incline. That is more than a fast clip

The lava fields look amazing!! Do you know if the island is in good condition right now or is there a lot of vog? I was a little worried about the latest volcanic activity, but it seems like people are encouraging visitors. Also, I would love tips on how to afford traveling. Flights are so expensive. Is it worth getting a credit card to earn points? How do you afford traveling so much? My husband and I have been debt free for eight years now, so I am a little hesitant to sign up for a credit card again. We would pay them off immediately, but still hesitant to get one. Any suggestions on travel savings would be great! Thank you again. I'm so happy to find your channel.
@@hillary7261 I think visitors are encouraged now but I'm not too sure of the status of the entire island. There was really nothing special that we did to make our trip happen-we saved up for a year and stuck to our budget! We also purchased flights using credit card points, etc. We scheduled most flights well in advance and saved money that way. I hope this helps! Best of luck with your travels!!! 🌎
How difficult was the hike up the mountain. I noticed you guys had warm clothes on, I’m guessing it was cold?
You definitely need warm clothes. It was very windy and cold. The hike was steep at times but not too strenuous. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!👍🏼
What kind of drone do you have? The quality was great!
Julie Austin we had a Mavic pro, the older model. It's great in good light but has poor dynamic range 😅

big island is great, except the escalating tour helicopter noise, we have pleaded with the two big tour helicopter company's the FAA, flight standers, dep of transportation, not too flight over any homes the noise is extremely annoying, not good for our environment, ex ex, NO help from any,, 90% of this island is uninhabited, yet yet, HELP, GREED GREED
