hey I have a question..I started yesterday and when trying to climb a hill, I figured out Im sliding backwards. No matter how hard I try. At first I thought maybe Im not putting enough weight on each foot, but I ended up sliding backwards and obviously falling. Here is my question: is it not enough waxed or Im too light for the skis I have? i must say when I bought my skis I had a professional advisor so could it bejust poor waxing??
Hi Kamila! For classic you need use the klister (a sticky ointment).Wax is put on the ends of skis for slipping, and the ointment is put in the area under the shoe
You need to be very fit for a start. This fellow in the video has all muscle tone and no love handles at all. No.2. You need the right ski with the right camber for your body weight and No .3.Pattern based skis might work better than waxed skis for this kind of kick and glide ascent. If you can get the weight transfer onto each leg with the right rhythm you should not slide backwards. If the ascent is too steep then short hops should get the rhythm started as long as you throw your weight slightly forward, bend your knees and keep your arms swinging like a pendulum and engage the wax or the patterned ski base. If all else fails just Herringbone up and enjoy the turns on the way down :-).
Fantastic video GREAT understanding of biomechanics
Merci…effective vidéo.
