Whats the worst mistake you have made as a streamer? Let me know below or in my Twitch chat when I'm live at www.twitch.tv/xtwoshoes
THANK YOU for specifically mentioning “stop buying unnecessary shit” - I’m not one to tell people how to spend their money but it’s so easy to get caught up seeing the top creators use all this crazy gear to think that it’s somehow a requirement to stream, make content, or be successful
For sure! It’s wild!
Dude, I remember when you started streaming and put up videos. We started about the same month actually. Both streaming and uploading. Unfortunately life took a different turn of events so to speak.. couldn’t really be as active or entertaining as I knew how to be.. it it’s really good and entertaining to watch your videos! You have certainly shown me what approaches I could take from today. Thanks man!
Thanks so much mate! Hope all is well with you!
YES PLEASE BIGGEST ADVICE EVER!!! I get a lot of folks asking me advice and my advice is literally always PLEASE TALK LIKE EVERYONE IS WATCHING -- sighs. i have given the same advice to a handful of small streamers when they have asked (yes i'm small too but i am talking people who have like 1-2 viewers and for some reason expect those 1-2 viewers to be the backbone of the conversation) many times to just chat, commentate, address the audience even when it's small or non-existent! Yes it feels silly, but this is YOUR stream, you have to control the vibe, you have to set the tone. It's the thing that makes me the most crazy when i go into a chat of someone i've vibed with and followed because i wanna be supportive and they are dead ass silent, and i come in and start chatting and it's the only thing that keeps them from being silent. You gotta take control of your chat! I'm happy that I can come in and get my smaller streamer friends talking, but I can't always be there to create random bs and talk, you gotta do that yourself all the time. It's so much more important than people think and it does take practice! just keep pushing yourself to be ALIVE in your chat, because it is the only way you are going to have an engaging chat yknow?
Solid points as always TwoShoes. I have to be honest that my biggest mistake since starting, cuz I'm a newbie, is that I thought I had to have a camera. The camera had to be there. What I learned is that the camera and my little laptop with streaming was just too much for it. It made my stream and videos just a studdering mess. I turned the Camera off and honestly it flows just so much better. Now to save up for that better PC and then that camera will go back on. Until then, I am just a voice for now.
Trial and error! The biggest lessons are learned this way:) Nice work!
I am still learning to cope with the feeling of failure after posting something in my Discord or on Twitter and no one reacts to it. No likes. No emojis. My Discord is quiet most of the time and it can be very disheartening. Do they care when I post my schedule or if I wish them good morning? It’s tough.
I've dealt with this a lot. It can be tough. But remember, numbers arent the be all and end all. Sure they are nice. But learning to accept failures/flops is a skill that needs to be learned also. You got thisssss
After streaming for a few years, I’m still learning a lot from yours and other UA-camr videos about Twitch streaming and growing. Some advice I already know and am glad I would never do (staying silent, buying expensive things at the beginning), but some other advice you gave like “not giving up since some are overnight successes and others take time” is reassuring to me. You’re also totally right about being on too many social media platforms. I’m on 4, and it is pretty taxing to figure out what people will like seeing on them.
Thank you so much for giving us these helpful and succinct videos. I’m definitely checking out Placeit🙂
Thanks so much mate!
Many that blow up too quick don't have the content to retain viewers. Content is the only thing that will grow and keep viewers interested
Well said!
Definitely focusing on the “congested” part myself which is ironic because before I was a retro streamer lmao. Really appreciate these videos
Worst mistake is trying to finish a game I started on stream that I wasn't having fun with anymore. ALWAYS make sure you are having a good time on stream!
This is a good lesson to learn! There will always be people that give you a hard time for moving onto something new but you’ll do better work if you’re not torturing yourself
Honestly, just don't play it:) Even if people complain. You arent contractually bound to finish something you start on stream:)
i just hate it when some streamers expect a follow back when they are the ones who dont stream the same games as i do, so why should i follow back 🤷🏻♂(and they unfollow)
Thank you for the tips! Very valuable reminder!
Back at it, Danno!!!
Top job as always!!!
Thanks!
I enjoy streaming more than content at times. Still feel UA-cam is a lot behind twitch.
I see a lot of games have twitch support now but none for UA-cam live
I appreciate you! You help new streamers not give up right away 😂
An awesome video as per usual, Dan! 😁👍👍 As ever, I appreciate you for going into such a high level of detail &
thoroughness with your content as well as also providing actionable tips & tricks to avoid these pitfalls. 😄👌
Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
Thanks homie!
Dan, once again a great vid man!
Thank you!
Your videos are great! I'm surprised you don't get more views. As a person who streams an extremely oversaturated game (for a little over a year now), I could not have grown without getting lucky and finding some great people to network with and UA-cam Shorts... and even then, I'm averaging 5-10 viewers. I'm in the process of finding a different game to stream because it is just so hard to grow...
Hey, thanks! Appreciate the kind words. Best of luck!
Great advice throughout 👍
I'm just a small channel here on YT, been doing in 2 years, and only just started on Twitch, about 4 weeks. And nothing prepared me for the overwhelming and awkward feeling of people donating cash and gifting 100s in subscriptions. It's something I never wanna get used to either, as it's genuinely overwhelming, from a few dollars to triple figures. I really wasn't ready for that. So you're right, you don't wanna blow up over night. That is unless you're some sort of narcissist without emotion and a sense of entitlement. 🤣
Great video as always! Just curious, what font do you use for your thumbnails?
I'll have to ask the thumbnail designer! But Thank you!
@@xTwoShoes ok thanks
Can you make a video or if you haven’t already of software for new stream beginners to use to do the clips on and edit that won’t break the bank lol
This video was really helpful, but I do feel like I’m really trying to do a lot of the off platform growth, just not getting videos that click, is that more a matter of time kinda thing?
After finding out that I can stream with nothing but my phone and or Xbox. I ain't lookin to waist anymore money. Like, this shit is easier than I actually thought lol.
placeit helped me upgrade my stream by miles
I personally was doing everything you said to do and everything you said not to - I'm still nowhere.. so this video, its debatable
This video isn't really intended to tell you how to "grow" as such, it's more of a guide. There's plenty of other videos on my channel that may help with some of the challenges you are facing:)
I know I’m a little late to this video, but I do have a question. When saying branding, every video and every advice TikTok is talking about the visuals. Logo, overlays, alerts, whatever. But what I struggle with, is the other part of branding. Who are you? What makes your stream unique? What is typically you? That you can then use for the visual branding. Do you have any advice on how to figure that part out? 😅
Would give my left shoe for an xtwoshoes sponsorship :P
Heck yeah!
Haa yeah I've dropped money I didn't need to in the beginning but lessons learned!
Great fucking video man 🤝
Thanks mate!
I got distracted by the DVD thing - sorry :p
Plan excecuted flawlessly haha
No one is getting my shoes. Thanks Dan!
You keep those shoes!
C920 gang rise up
Goated Camera!
Twitch is dreadful for unknown streamers
Everyone on twitch was an unknown streamer at one point :)
Swearing on UA-cam will limit your channel’s growth
I’ll be ok:) but just not in the first 15 secs lol
@@xTwoShoes 😂🤣😂🤞 very helpful vid btw. Tbh I don’t mind swearing myself haha
Lol "wish streamer" haha
So accurate haha
