  • The Great Gildersleeve was a radio comedy that ran from August 31, 1941 to 1958 on NBC. Actor Harold Peary played the main character Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve. The Great Gildersleeve was one of the earliest spin-off programs in broadcast history. The character was first introduced on the October 3, 1939 episode of Fibber McGee and Molly. The show greatest popularity was during the 1940's. This episode is called "The Jolly Boys Club Is Formed" and it originally aired on October 8, 1944. #oldtimeradio

    I feel sorry for those kids grown-up now; they longed to grow up and have their own choice of how to live and to choose what their own children do; but this stupid millennium’s pulled the old switcheroo! And it’s SpongeBob’s fault! Let’s face it: TODAY’S PARENTS ARE 2-TIME LOSERS!
