Bill Bendix was great in this show 👌
Funny!
☑☑☑☑☑
Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
Was this episode ever televised?
BOOOOOOOORING ! 😡😡😡
I feel sorry for those kids grown-up now; they longed to grow up and have their own choice of how to live and to choose what their own children do; but this stupid millennium’s pulled the old switcheroo! And it’s SpongeBob’s fault! Let’s face it: TODAY’S PARENTS ARE 2-TIME LOSERS!
As heard on Sundays at 6pm(et).
Later adapted as the TV episode "Bud the Snob" [January 16, 1955].
Oh, my! Life of Riley! I was born in 1938. This show was a delight to me, the little kid. Bill Bendix! Digger O'Dell! 😄😁😆🤣😀
Spring of 1942. The war is about to change their lives forever. In 14 years Tutti Fruitti will be a song, not just a flavor. Thanks for the use of the time machine. Our lives and the worlds we inhabit are fleeting.
It is now4:20EDT.❇️🪴✳️
I was sure that the dogs would bark at the imposter and that would be the clue that the detectives used
Love the sound effects specially the ones of the guys running
Yeah, I thought the same thing when I was making the video!!
As a radio kid I listened to OMB faithfully. Good writing. Good acting. And the wonderful world of radio imagination. Thanks for posting.
You're very welcome!
I love old radio shows. I listen to a local station which plays shows like this every Sunday. The jokes can be corny, and if you don't know the context of a lot of them, could be over your head, but it doesn't change the fact that they are very enjoyable, just like this one.
Just for perspective in view of this 1944 radio show, we bought our first house (which had been built in 1923) in 1945 for $9,500. After two more owners of the same basic house, I saw it listed recently at $275,000.
It's wise to smoke extra mild Fatima. Oops! Wrong show.
As heard on Thursdays at 9pm(et).
Has anyone been able get Fatimas?
Good stuff! Thanks for the upload! 👍🏻
Your welcome!!
How old was Bud suppose to be? He seemed to have a juvenile attitude about the opposite sex for a teen Rather stupid, too for believing he could communicate with someone long distance through a cigar box
That delivery boy sounded like Richard Crenna using the same voice as Walter in Our Miss Brooks and on I Love Lucy as the love struck teenager
Pretty silly stuff, but brings back memories. I eventually became a snarky high school English teacher myself and often thought of Miss Brooks. Things were different by then, of course, for the most part. That bit about an over-crowded classroom is still absolutely true.
A fun episode….thanks
Did you rip this from a tape? I remember hearing this episode on cassette when I was a kid.
As heard on Thursdays at 9pm(et). Later adapted for television on June 5, 1952.
When will Miss Brookes realize Mr. Boyton is just not that into her? 🌈
Yeah, seriously. Like, you're pretty, smart and talented. Stop chasing a man that doesn't want you and don't chase a man, period.
Sounds ok so far xx
Enjoyable, is there a way to use modern technology to clean up the static?
Love Dragnet. I'm a huge fan of W H Parker. Ha ha.
Pretty good. Ty
Thank you too!
As heard on Sundays at 6:30pm(et).
As heard on Thursdays at 10:30pm(et).
1ST BROADCAST ON 09/09/1943... 09/09 HAPPENS TO BE THE MOST COMMON BIRTHDATE. ON THE 9TH DAY OF THE 9TH MONTH OF 1969: I TURNED 9 Y.O. AND MY 9 OLDER SIBLINGS WERE PRESENT. I REALLY LIKE THE PROGRAM, MISS GISH DOES HAVE A PLEASENT VOICE. THANX, LUV YOUR CHANNEL.
Thank You!!
The old radio shows were great.
I agree!
The final episode of the radio series, as heard on Thursdays at 8:30pm(et). However, WNBC-AM in New York *didn't* schedule it (and "TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES", which followed) because they presented "MEET ME AT KAY'S", a music and "yak" program featuring popular singer Kay Armen and comedian Louis Nye {through August 1954}. Because WNBC wanted more local ad revenue from that program, they jeopardized any chances of "FATHER KNOWS BEST"- and "THE SIX SHOOTER", which replaced it on April 1st- finding any kind of sponsorship on the network {"why should we buy time on that show when it isn't even heard in New York?"}.
As heard on Thursdays at 10:30pm(et).
Am I the only one who thought the mother was being way too permissiv and working against her husband where Betty was concerned? Why didn't they ask her to start paying rent if she wanted to be treated like an adult?
These 1950 “Our Miss Brooks” radio shows had really amazing writers. They are so creative and have funny situations. The cast is perfect. Thanks for playing them. JIM
I totally agree!
As heard on Thursday nights at 8:30pm(et). It was *NOT* heard on WNBC-AM in New York (and neither was 'TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES"), as they presented a local music and interview program, "MEET ME AT KAY'S", featuring singer Kay Armen and comedian Louis Nye, instead. Several NBC affiliates also bypassed the series.
I grew up on this show, from about 1946 right into the mid-50's. Now I am 87 years old and enjoying it all over again.
Thank you for your comment!
As heard on Thursdays at 9pm(et). Hal Gibney, George Fenneman, announcers.
29:34. Andy Devine flubs and says "the new JELLY series" which causes long laughter all the way to the signoff. Good thing the quartet didn't sing "J-E-L-L-Y!"
Hy Averback, announcer.
In addition to directing several MASH episodes, reportedly Hy was the voice over the loudspeaker (affectionately named by me “Incoming Wounded”).
Gildy is one of the best 👍
Jack Benny and Our Miss Brooks....Thank you for uploading these favourites of mine!
My pleasure!
As heard on Thursdays at 8:30pm(et). However, WNBC in New York did NOT schedule it- or "TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES", which followed- because they presented an hour-long music and interview program, "MEET ME AT KAY'S", featuring vocalist Kay Armen and comedian Louis Nye {apparently, WNBC sold that show to local advertisers and made more money tham carrying a "sustaining" series like "FATHER KNOWS BEST"}.
0:33- "These Are Your Friends" was a special promoting NBC's daytime programming- primarily the soaps heard at the time.
I don’t want to do women’s work OR men’s work! I’m an artist. Besides, to me, housework IS heavy work.
