  • The North and South Fork of the Cherry River offer several miles of stocked trout water and in the spring West Virginia anglers arrive weekly to catch them. In this episode of Pautzke Outdoors we show you how they stock the North Fork and then drive over to the South Fork to try our luck at Mountain rainbows.

Last Thursday they just stocked the canals and the stream in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.
As of right now they're getting ready for the kids opening day which is March 26th
And then April 2nd is when the adults season opens up and starts. It cannot get here soon enough, but I have patience and I will wait till then. Epic video

Watching all these West Virginia videos is giving me the fishing bug. Those streams are beautiful. They work really hard at dispersing those fish. Nice job guys!!!

I don’t like chasing the stock truck because I like a challenge but I’m sure a net or two was thrown in that hole up river away from everybody

It’s cool you guys have the inside scoop when our state stocks our waters. Not jealous at all, I mainly fish for wild trout in the great state of West Virginia. Cool video!!!

It was a Friday stocking. We think the whole state new as the water is stocked weekly and hadn't shown up on the stocking report the first four days:) There were cars lined up waiting - traffic jams!

Nice looking water. They could save those people the time and just dump them into those folks' creek.

Why bother throwing them in the water…may as well just hand ‘‘em out to the waiting fisherman.

@@TeamPautzke Not suggesting I’m any better. We all have to decide for ourselves, like I saw you mention to someone else’s criticism. I certainly fish for stocked trout, so I’m guilty, too. For me, barbless hooks and artificial lures only is where I draw my own personal line. But seriously, handing them out from the stocking trucks would save wear and tear on those poor stockers (no more nasty falls!) and the trout, too-saving them from that harsh toss into such shallow, open water…but don’t guess that would do much for your bait business. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for sharing your opinion. We are always happy to listen, as long as someone is respectful in their delivery. Good luck out there and have fun with barbless hooks and lures - that's your choice. We all choose something that suits our needs best.

Following a hatchery truck is pretty low. Chasing freshly stocked rubber trout is pretty low also. Not my idea of ethical fishing. Like shooting fish in a barrel. Doesn't take much skill.
