Problem I have is the price. You can currently lease a Tesla here for £350 a month for their LR or AWD models and about £4500 down. I can't see Kia matching that and since most people dont want to buy the EVs due to the insane depreciation, I don't think that the EV5 will be much competition vs the Model Y, especially if the Juniper gives the same quality of improvements that the Model 3 Highland did over the OG Model 3.

It would be good if you could comment on the drivers ergonomics a bit more. I find this a real issue. Many cars have a wide centre console with a wide drive tunnel. Often my left knee presses against the edge of the centre console and the left leg position is uncomfortable. Land Rover discovery is particularly bad in this way and also has a wide drive tunnel that means the floor is not flat and slopes down from the centre of the car to the right and the left foot has no room to rest. The right leg has plenty of room and sits in a natural position. This car from what I see looks like there is plenty of room for the driver and your left knee is clear of the centre console.

I thought the grey plastic used in the dash and steering wheel plus the car console arm rest felt super cheap! Really put me off this one. A pretty decent package on paper but did. It enjoy driving it near as much as (the slightly more expensive) competition
Love the car Paul, try using Tiger Balm white oitment for the flies.
One of the buyers remorse issues with the EV6 was no Kia connect. Does this have Kia connect? Shouldnt that be mentioned in a detailed review like this? For EVs its iften very handy to manage max charge and see charge rate remotely from your phone without going to the car. Something tesla does wellbut early Kia in Australia were missing
Take it for a test drive at pennant hills kia, theyre pretty good.
This car has any wired noise? From air con?
All that room for a spare tyre and they still don't bother.
No matter how big the battery every car on the market has 400km or so. We are never going to get any better.
someone needs to ban car designers from using piano black.
Anyone know when the GT-Line version will be out in Australia? I've tried local Kia's and no really knows exactly when.
This is a great car, but they’re screwing us. The entry level is 30k aud in china, it’s 56k here. Even with 10k for stamp duties, deliveries, rego etc, it should still be nearly 20k cheaper. If it was priced about $40 k they would have cleaned up
Knee room excellent while’s knees are hitting seat
The trunk looks spacious but 18 cu ft is half the rated capacity of the Toyota RAV4's 37 cu ft (seats up).
We've rented the latter and it visually looked as spacious as the EV5's trunk.
What could be the reason for such a huge discrepancy?
was the price mentioned in the video???
The new Kia brand is actually pretty fire, ever since they changed the logo. The only bad car they have released is the Ute
Kia killing it. Elon picked the worst time to trash the Tesla brand. No surprise Kia US EV sales were up 70% in 2024, while Tesla sales declined
Even though they look stupid, fly nets are really the only things that work, the chemical based repellents sometimes work for a while, but they are very soon back on you. Don't you love the Australian wildlife that comes to you, they're very tame !!!
Question: driver distraction monitor(s) - what happens if you just put a piece of tape over the camera to permanently disable?
Your insurance company would reject your claim?
Maybe, ... I would like to know that too. But if you go through the car's menu and turn it off there, would the insurance issue still be a problem when/if they investigated the cars software settings prior to an accident.
I'd like the Carexperts to comment.
Paul, have you approached Aerogard to see if they wanted to sponsor your video's?
It would be a very short lived partnership.
A fly net is the way to go
Any chance you could please review the Xpeng G6 and G9 when it lands? I'm thinking about a family EV-SUV this year to replace our 2019 Santa Fe ActiveX, and the G6 or the G9 look like amazing value for money with a more premium equipment etc than the BYD and Kia products.
G6 is too small if you replace from Santa FE
@ I’m more interested in the G9 TBH, but I think the G6 is a good litmus test for Xpeng vehicles.
9:16 i preferred that over what they went with in the final version because how do you open in the current one if you have things on it anyways? What's the difference? At least that table thing was functional.
It does appear to be underwhelming regarding power for a vehicle of this size. It looks okay though and is seemingly good value at the lower spec range with a turbo engine.
Paul, you should include a new segment in your reviews.....
Try all the fly repellent "potions" people have recommended in the comments and see which works best.
Just wondering what you think about the hybrid Kia niro
Get one of those hats with the dangly corks
re:efficiency - probably has something to do with the shoebox aerodynamics :)
Yesss...damn these flies.
spare tyre?
Strange that you guys don't have a review of the Polestar 4
Is it same as syros
Syros is an India only model for now and smaller that this but wider and taller. It will also have its own EV version
I prefer the look and overal package of the EV3 GT
oh wow they finally released it, underspec'd and overpriced. personally i'm going to wait for the EV23 they announced last century.
Way too expensive. Not much grunt for an ev and it drives like a giant sponge. Front seats are very average and the options are lacking on the base model. This really misses the mark
Piano black wheel arches, what were they thinking!!!!! Give me Matt abs plastic finish. Plenty of manufacturers using it and doesn’t seem to hurt their sales. We all know how this will look in no time after suburban car park knocks!
Any chance of a Volvo EX30 review?
Why not 800V 😢
