Nurse Navigators

As the first Missouri hospital in Kansas City to achieve accreditation as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, we offer a patient-centered experience with our nurse navigators. Our nationally recognized program offers Board Certified Breast Care Nurses to act as a woman's advocate, educator and coordinator through the mammogram process and beyond. Women's Imaging at North Kansas City Hospital uses advanced diagnostic technology such as Breast MRI. If an abnormal mammogram is detected, we walk women through their biopsy options. For women with dense breast tissue or strong personal history of breast cancer, a non-surgical alternative is available, a stereotactic - or ultrasound guided - biopsy. Our staff understands this time can be difficult and remains actively involved in a patient's clinical care, as well as supporting emotional and social concerns. If a breast cancer diagnosis is confirmed, our nurse navigators guide a woman through their journey. Our specially trained physicial therapist is there to create a customized exercise routine through the Fatigue Management Program, the first and only program like it in the Kansas City area. The program is designed to give patients more energy during and after treatment.
