Not a bad video tbh top job. With the filter buy a mahle filter as that’s what bmw use and will save you £10 as your paying that extra £10 for it to have a bmw box and stamp on box. When fitting the oil filter cap just rub alittle bit of the clean oil around the o ring on the filter housing.

Hey mate, where you bought the oil and filter? Was it from dealership or online. If online, can you please share the link?
    Thanks,

I got both off eBay. The oil and filter was from Listers BMW Boston; they were cheaper than what my local BMW dealer was charging.

      Hi mate,
      Your video was really helpful!!
I have changed oil successfully for the first time in my life. And it all went smooth because of your detailed video. And yes, there was a small plastic cap at the bottom which was easy to open to get the drain plug.
      Much appreciated!!
My car is exactly as yours. I was looking for one more help if you can.
I want to install aftermarket crystal pack (gear shift and multimedia knob) . Do you know any way how to take our the silver honeycomb pattern cover around the the gear shift? I do not want to damage the ambient lights which are on its side.
      Thanks

@@RahulSingh-vv2sp thanks for the feedback and glad my video helped.
I'd not seen the crystal pack until you'd mentioned it, that does look nice! Unfortunately I've no advice on how to remove the trim around the gear shift; it isn't something I've needed to remove.

Great video! Oil is expensive, but BMW sell their oil in 20L bulk packs - works out around £35 per 6.6L

I didn't know you could buy bulk packs; I'll have to check that out next time I service it. Thanks.

Hi mate this is great video. I wanted to change oil in my X5 30d too, but I have some sort of plastic cover on that small opening in the metal panel where you open the drain plug ... But in your video seems like no plastic cover on that opening in the metal panel... Any idea

Thanks for your positive feedback. I wonder if mine is missing what you mention, my old F30 330d had a fabric textured under tray which had a flap over the oil drain plug which you could pull down to open.
I’ve had a quick Google for G05 X5 oil drain plug covers but there might be multiple versions. One looks like you have a plastic spring clip you can push to release it from the under tray, the other looks like you twist it to release it from the under tray.
If you have a Google you might be able to see which one yours looks like and how it will remove.

Ok done my oil change yesterday and there is a plastic clip-on flap on that hole that exposes the oil drain plug. Easy to pull it down from one side by hand or screwdriver. Seems like your one is missing, maybe sometimes they don't bother to put it on after service at garage ...

@@eTech-Solutions Thanks for letting me know. I imagine that is what has happened with mine...next time I'm passing the BMW dealer I'm going to get a replacement ordered.

Where did you get the replacement copper ring for the sump plug?

    • @SwiftDevelopments
      @SwiftDevelopments  7 місяців тому

The copper crush washer usually comes included when you buy a BMW oil filter, I’ve never checked to see if you can order these separately from BMW. Hope this helps 👍🏼

You forgot latex gloves to keep the oil off your hand! 😜
