Malaysian cuisine looks delicious. Thank you Alex for this video it made me very hungry just watching it and wished we had a Malaysian restaurant out here in Hawaii to try but I’m not sure we have one. The seafood omelette looks delicious and if Palm said it’s better than Thailand then I take her word for it. Curious to know what you would classify the noodles with the syrup. I was expecting a savory taste but I guess it would be odd to mix sweet with rice noodles. The plate lunch looked amazing as well.

While you're there check out laksa which is a noodle soup, you get various kinds such as assam and curry. I dish I discovered for the first time on my last visit was chilli pan mee and was lovely. Finally no visit to Malaysia is complete without trying nasi lemak(coconut steamed rice with the weirdest accompniments lol) nor roti canai (flaky flat bread)with teh tarik (pulled tea). I'm glad you tried char kway teow, it's just not made the same here in the UK

I don't know if anyone answered ur question on what "kandar" actually is in ur comments. The backstory to this is that in the olden days there were traders who would go around and carry their wares via a long stick which is tied on both ends and carried on their shoulders. These long sticks are called "kandar". So basically nasi kandar was the food that was sold through this method. In the end the name just stuck eventhough the "kandar" itself is not used anymore

There are Malay food ( specialties in the different states) and there are also ethnicities like Jawa, Acheh, Padang and Bugis with their own special dishes. Next would be a wide variety of Chinese cuisine from different groups such as Cantonese or Hokkien food. We can find Indian food ( Tamil, malayalee, Telugu, Ceylonese and Punjabi). Not to forget Iban, Kadazan and delicacies from various ethnic groups in Sarawak and Sabah. There are Thais who are also Malaysian citizen with their own Thai dishes.
