    Put stops on the ends, motorize it. Make a lever arm for the grinder and let the machine do the work. First ever Tank lathe!

    The project definitely got the creative juices flowing. Thanks Andrew. I was going to comment about mounting the blade and then rotating the tank but others mentioned that idea. One other thing I did think of in regards to purging the tank with water. Would filling one tank and then using your trash pump to empty the first into the next one then rinse and repeat. Seems like it could be faster but I don't know for sure. Would use less water and electricity not that is a huge concern for you. Time wise the trash pump would be faster than a garden hose. Again not that you are sitting waiting I know you multitask well. Anyway look forward to part 2.

    I think the next thing you need is some kind of water fill station where you can fill the tank, then pump it out and recapture the water so you arent wasting 500 gallons every time. Just a thought.

    variable speed drive wheels on it and you can make an awesome turntable and set up an auto plasma stand to cut it without you being there. I can help you if you want...I've done it before. It's what all of the tank manufacturers use to weld them together. I am an engineer and designer by the way (in case you were wondering.)

    • @TKCL

    Wow that propane tank would make an awesome yard roller. Put two greasable ball bearings one on each side steal tube of some kind and weld up a tractor hitch. You could fill it with water and the weight would really level out the yard and make it golf cart smooth over time. Some people use sand as well to spread out in the yard then run the roller over and rake the grass back through.. Interesting stuff!!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  23 дні тому +1

      Your exactly right and that's been on my to build list.

    • @LorenTedford
      @LorenTedford 23 дні тому

      @@TKCL I don't know what Bearings are available but make sure they are good ones.. All the ones I see get trashed after a few years because either its a lack of maintenance or the Bearings can't be changed out. I can't wait to see that project lol!! Don't forget to tag the lawn care community because a roller like that is insane for ground leveling and would be amazing for some big time projects like grass runways and stuff..

    • @LorenTedford
      @LorenTedford 23 дні тому

      Heck some Asphalt companies have been experimenting with rollers similarly like that filled with water and water sprayers not sure what the water sprayers do exactly but I know they have water nozzles before and after the roller while rolling down the asphalt.

    OK hear me out for a part 3 even though you havent sorted out a part 2. A mounted, high torque motor on a variable speed controller foot pedal, with a rubber wheel to rotate the drum/tank at the speed of your choice with the push of a pedal, and then an arm to mount one of those Evolution metal cutting circular saws to, to help with arm fatigue and boom you have a tank/barrel cutting robot. I really dont think the idea would even be that far fetched lol couple that with being able to variably size the holding wheels to accept different sized tanks and drums and boy you'd be in business.

    • @TKCL
