Emotions can be addictive. Like caffeine, if you are addicted can bring suffering if you don't get enough. People have been known to sabotage their life in order to experience an emotion, even a negative one. For me, it is much better to observe an emotion without judgement and see how long it lasts

Swamiji, each & everyone of your videos --- I started watching the shorter ones---- & now I want to complete these and get up to date (13 lectures already over & I have just started on the 3rd)----- your way of explaining things ---- I really am indebted to God & my Guru gor having led me via the many you-tube surfings to you. Your explanations are so simple that even the listeners of average intelligence with a sparse phylosophical bent of mind can comprehend and understand the inexpressible all-pervading boundless consciousness. My Pranams to you, Swamiji.
Swamiji, thank you from my heart! As a commentary on the topic of this lecture, as always, I will quote the statements of my guru, the light of the world, the self-realized jnani Sri Ramana Maharshi: 125. Those who show great care and love for their bodies, while saying that they are trying to know Self, are like one who tries to cross a river, mistaking a crocodile for a log. 126. Instead of attending to Sat-Chit-Ananda, the subtlest, which is beyond the reach of speech or mind, to spend one’s life attending merely to the welfare of the gross body is just like drawing water with great difficulty from a well in order to water some useless weeds [instead of paddy]. 129. Just as the movements of a vehicle in which one is sitting is wrongly taken to be one’s own movements, so also those who do not have Self-Knowledge suffer from the delusion of mistaking the birth and death [i.e., samsara] experience by the ego as their [Self’s] own [birth and death]. 130. If the ignorant one, who is clinging to the body and world as real, wants to have peace, he should, giving up his wrong notion, cling like an udumbu* to Self [Atman] in his heart. An udumbu* is a giant lizard found in India which grows up to three feet in length; its peculiarity is that it is able to cling to the flat surface of a wall so firmly that a man holding it can lift himself up. Swami ji pranam .Thanks for such a nice explanation for us it has much clarity which is often missed when one reads the text due to lack of comprehensive study.
Yes. In other words, using intellect or buddhi's viveka (discriminatory faculty) to analyze and imbibe knowledge of Baghavad Gita and also how to be non-responsive to our thought patterns/habitual thoughts and then using the same intellect or buddhi to not to respond to unwanted thought patterns (using viveka) and habitual thoughts. Simply put, don't analyze anything unnecessarily using the Buddhi. Let the subconscious thoughts based on vasanas die down on its own. This is Jnana yoga or vipasssana.
Knowledge is based on vasanas accumulated over time (due to past karma). So, vasanas decide a person's thought patterns and course of action. Start reading Baghavad Gita and analyze it using your intellect. Let us see where it takes you

om shanti shanti. Very clear but the question arise: How do you truly gain such a knowledge in a deep way. Meaning that it is not all blown away by forexample acute pain physical or emotional?
Introspect about the knowledge you gained and start integrating it in your daily life or life style. Once there is stability in your surroundings, automatically, the possibility of getting caught in superficial opposites like pride/shame, beauty/ugly, emptiness/meaningfulness , love/hate, pain/pleasure, unconcern/emotional etc also goes down. This is dharmic mindset where balance of natural law happens. In this dharmic mindset and actions within the framework of it, nobody creates karma or cause and effect and reincarnation
In my opinion, spiritual practices should be perfected (or at least practised extensively such that it becomes a habit) when life is calm. It's very hard to start meditation, for eg, when you are undergoing great pain. However, if you have already been meditating for years, and then you encounter painful experiences, the strength of your spiritual practice will sustain you through the difficult times. I've personally observed this in some of my close family members. It works!!
Strychnos potatorum or Clearing-nut tree is a deciduous tree that grows up to 40 feet (12 meters) in height. The seeds are used in traditional medicine as well as purifying water. Thus says Wikipedia.
The "dream" is illusion. Try to tear holes in the illusion; this process will open your mind to new thoughts that will tear away more illusions. Yes, it does make a difference. Consciousness grows as more and more of the illusions are set aside. These periods of disillusionment take time to unravel. Be patient, but continue with the process. Spirituality is one method to reduce illusions, analytical psychology also is useful. Which method is superior? I think it is an individual choice. Both work, yet both take enormous amounts of time. And perhaps both methods can enhance the process of becoming fully Conscious, so that life is not a Dream.
Swamy...i consider u as my guru..is it necessary that we have a direct interaction with guru so as to get his blessings and a push towards spiritual goals...I desperately need it ..Swamy ji..
I also have the same feeling. Remember that when the disciple is ready (adhikara) the connection with the Guru comes easily and naturally. In the meantime, our duty as spiritual aspirants is to continue to study the teachings of the Guru with fidelity and constancy. In any case, it is not so much the physical contact that is important, but the spiritual connection. I am sure that Swamiji's blessings are with us even without giving them directly. Namaskaram.
So much grateful Swamiji for your great teachings. Just a quick Q. What would be the hindi translation for Consciousness? Would it be Cetnaa? Or just Brahman?
Swamiji, I pray to clarify certain doubts and please guide me. If ignorance is darkness [as explained in verse 3] and knowledge is light, like sun-light, how can darkness cover light, how can ajnãna cover the Self-Effulgent Átma? Clouds do not cover the Sun but they cover earth. As we are situated on the earth looking at the Sun through the earth-covered clouds, we wrongly say [as we speak through the Sun’s angle] that the Sun is covered by clouds instead of saying that earth-covered clouds are obstructing our sight from seeing the sun. Likewise, Átma is never or cannot be covered by ignorance or ajnãna as ajnãna evaporates the moment it faces Átma. But our present state is, we, the Átma, “think and feel” that we have been covered by ajnãna as if the Sun [wrongly] “thinks” he has been covered by earthily clouds. Hence, the so called ignorance of the Átma is ‘self-inflicted’ ignorance which has to be corrected by “US” alone. Hence to correct the ‘self-inflicted’ ignorance what practice has to be done at the experiential level? I understand Panchakośãs [particularly mind and intellect] as Jîva and Átma as THAT which shines Panchakośãs. Hence, I think, Átma is not Jîva [the individual or person]. But in verse 5 Jîva seems to have been used as synonym to Átma. I am always in confusion with this. Kindly clarify me. My humble pranãms to Swamiji.
But what's consciousness doing about itself and why? Making a mess of itself in a mind posture by straying within itself and feels lost to itself as a separate self ! What is the compulsion? Consciousness " Vasanizes" itself to veil itself from itself as a physical entity.
Thanks to Swamiji for imparting profound wisdom to all of us. Sanjey, to answer your question, as Swamiji mentioned knowledge is part of our mind in the form of thoughts. As in the metaphor where kataka powder attracts impure dust particles and settles down at the bottom of the container leaving only the pure water in the top, in the same way knowledge in the forms of thoughts in our minds get dissolved along with the veil of ignorance, leaving only our true nature self shine.
What's the use of all this knowledge when the world is being overcome by an utterly senseless religion. As the things are advancing all these knowledge will die out and only the most grotesque form of I don't know what to call it, will survive.

Thorn used to remove the thorn is also thrown away in the same way knowledge after removing the ignorance vanishes itself.
Yes. Pranam Swami ji.
How to bring knowledge in the form of thought inside the mind to remove ignorance?
Knowledge is based on vasanas accumulated over time (due to past karma). So, vasanas decide a person's thought patterns and course of action. Start reading Baghavad Gita and analyze it using your intellect. Let us see where it takes you
The best way. Keep studying Vedanta

Strychnos potatorum or Clearing-nut tree is a deciduous tree that grows up to 40 feet (12 meters) in height. The seeds are used in traditional medicine as well as purifying water. Thus says Wikipedia.
Is it parichchanna’ or ‘parichchinna’?
'The world is like a dream...' . But can we be sure it is not 'just' a dream? And would it make a difference anyway?
Thank you Dear Swamiji,🙏can you give your knowledge on Kriya Yoga please. Thank You🙏🕉🙏💛
"We're all experts in sadness" Damn Swamiji, are you okay?
Swamiji, What is IGNORANCE?
Namaskaram swamiji 🙏

Jai shri Krishna

🙏
Thank You very much
Is the veil covering our Consciousness due to ignorance or delusion/illusion...or both?

Thankyou so much Guruji🙏🙏 I have to listen your videos many times to understand.. it's a blessing I found your channel.. 🙏🙏💐💐
It's little confusion that if all necessary what is primary means.
the secondaries help to make use of the primary means
Namaste'
But what's consciousness doing about itself and why? Making a mess of itself in a mind posture by straying within itself and feels lost to itself as a separate self ! What is the compulsion? Consciousness " Vasanizes" itself to veil itself from itself as a physical entity.
Good one - But I still doubt, how can self knowledge be lost once you remove the viel of Ingnorance?
Thanks to Swamiji for imparting profound wisdom to all of us. Sanjey, to answer your question, as Swamiji mentioned knowledge is part of our mind in the form of thoughts. As in the metaphor where kataka powder attracts impure dust particles and settles down at the bottom of the container leaving only the pure water in the top, in the same way knowledge in the forms of thoughts in our minds get dissolved along with the veil of ignorance, leaving only our true nature self shine.
because you will see that you are not an individual "self" but "all" or "no" self
XLXT 🙏😇! THANX!!!
In overall this is pure knowledge 😭

Atmen in german means to breath
But Swami, clouds in Olympia Washington state are present 99% of the year 🤣
What's the use of all this knowledge when the world is being overcome by an utterly senseless religion. As the things are advancing all these knowledge will die out and only the most grotesque form of I don't know what to call it, will survive.
