    Might sound obvious, but don’t give you bank info or money to anyone. My bunk mate in army basic, gave his mom his bank info so she could pay a bill. The last day before graduation we walked to the ox to buy some shit and his card we declined. His mom cleared the account… be careful y’all

      Jesus christ! Well you can trust Navy Federal with it, they only wanna add money to your account (your paychecks) and I never had a single issue with them.

    • @poeber
      @poeber 15 днів тому

      This is going to be me. My parents have already told me NOT to sign up for navy federal, to give my current bank info (that they have access to), and if I do sign up I need to mail them the information once I get it. Because I owe them a monthly car payment and they are taking care of my dog so “I’m not off the hook in bootcamp”. They’ll drain it for sure.☹️ if I wasn’t worried they’d sell the car & dog I wouldn’t listen, but I love both.
      Backstory: I still have a curfew & my location is tracked constantly at 23 years old. Even while I lived at college in my own apartment. (Yet, they wonder why I would ever want to leave such a loving environment for the military in the first place LOL)

      @@poeber Yeah so once you're gone you're gone. It's your life and nobody can say anything. I'd say hey thanks for the suggestion but I'm making a bank account nobody has any control of but me and if you don't like it that's tough tamales. Pay back any money you legit owe to anyone but nobody should control your career but you after you join. You're an adult.
      Holding the dog hostage for money is unfortunate. My mom just accepted the cat as part of her family, charging money is bonkers. I'd have someone else watch the dog while you're gone. This whole situation is strange and sounds abusive. Best of luck.

    My enlistment bonus is supposed to be $35,000, shipping out in September. $15,000 for joining the reserves and $20,000 for the job (or the other way around).
    You have to make your home work and tell recruiters to look up bonuses in their internal documents. They might not even know about most of them. And then, you have to make sure those classifiers at MEPS put these numbers in your contract.

      A quarter million dollars has to be a typo. The 25k bonuses started right after I joined, I barely missed it, and probably ended again. You should ask a local recruiter what's available, but don't let money be the main thing. The job you pick and live with for 4+ years is the most important decision you'll make.

      The main things are the rating you want, like YN or MA or whatever job you want...the enlistment bonus, make sure that's actually written on the contract, and what rate you'll start at like E-2 or E-3

      Sounds good, that's a lot more than I got. Just make sure it says it on the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if bonuses are even bigger next year. They're giving large bonuses right now for retention of people they already have.

      Ask a recruiter but you may have to ask several because many don't want to do the paperwork for a waiver. They will not let you in until all fines and probatonary time has been served. NEVER NEVER NEVER LIE because they will find out and you will have to pay them back.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  10 місяців тому +1

      Waivers are usually handled by the recruiter and MEPS and if you can't get waivers you can't join. The fact they found something after they graduated RTC complicates things because I don't think they can just drop them (after a long separation process) like someone who is just going through boot camp. They might be on hold for a long time. I got 2 friends who are being held, and it's been a long, long time.
