That's true, and fine when you have money. My husband of 44 years passed this April 2023. Worked for the government over 30+ years. Died before he could retire. We were married 44 years. Because I'm his spouse I got his retirement. I had to provide his certified death certificate AND our marriage license. Without that just living together for 44 years wouldn't have been enough. It also allowed me to take half of my social security and half of his, which means my social security is now higher. I'm not able to work, and for those that can, if you take social security you can only work part time. He also left me life insurance we carried, and life insurance through his government job. That wouldn't work either without a marriage license. So, I'm happy for them both and understand why they've chosen not to marry, but for most of us it just isn't practical.

They are truly one of my favorite Hollywood couples. It works for them. It isn't for everyone, but they are happy and enjoying their lives. Blessings to them both-🌺
Everyone’s arguing that they have true love because at any time they can walk away but they’re also saying “at any point in time if someone better comes along I might leave you for them.” One could argue that they’re constantly not choosing each other because they’re not committing. A marriage represents a bond. A promise. That means something. I heard a lot about not wanting more divorces. It sounds like she’s scared of marriage because she doesn’t think they’ll last. So she’s avoiding the divorce by avoiding the marriage. That doesn’t sound like true love. True love would be willing to commit. We all know this.
Easiest answer is…it’s not necessary. Marriage as defined by law is an economic commitment / legal union and why do either of these individuals need that? If i’m wrong, please show me a law that regulates feelings…which is what likely got them into the relationship.
I personally think that a paper is just a technically that allows one to help the other be the one deciding health issues. The need of having a stable, respectful relationship and the will to choose one another dose not change nor the commitment if there is a particular paper. My partner and I got married to celebrate our LOVE and Commitment to each other, plus it gave each other respectful rights under the law.
The only thing though, is that even if married, if one or the other had debilitating health issues, the courts could step in and appoint a guardian or a conservator. Guardian takes all. Everything.
@@monarene44 That is so sad. I truly don't understand that or why. I know that my husband would appoint my oldest daughter. She is not his blood daughter, but he trust her judgment.

One could argue that they’re constantly not choosing each other because they’re not committing.
Because she doesn’t think it will last?
Easiest answer is…it’s not necessary. Marriage as defined by law is an economic commitment / legal union and why do either of these individuals need that? If i’m wrong, please show me a law that regulates feelings…which is what likely got them into the relationship.
🚬
Except that people walk out of marriages all the time so....
They are committed to
Beautiful & fortunate couple.❤
I loved Overboard 🤣🤣🤣 he named her "Annie". They look happy ❤
Yea Love That Movie too 😂😂 They do belong together ❤❤
The true meaning of “if we aren’t married, we can’t get divorced.”
I'm so happy for them! No judgment on their decision - they have clearly put family first for decades.
@@crybebebunny I agree it’s sad and one of life’s sad ironies. It’s important to have estate planning papers in place: will, durable power of attorney, health care surrogate, and advanced directives. This all by itself can prevent minimize the risk of a guardian taking over.
@@monarene44 Thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge❣️
@@monarene44that's not really true. A guardian cannot rob a spouse of their marriage rights.
The way those two look at each other says it all. True love, admiration and respect.
I absolutely adore this entire family❤
Nobody needs a piece of paper to defy your Love, if y'all truly love each other y'all stay together with or without paper, the fact y'all did and it's been 40 years is amazing 💕💕 congratulations 💐💐
They're priceless & share their endless & eternal love together!! So special!!
Yep. Love is a choice.
They got it down!! This is a genuine relationship built on love, loyalty and respect.
Hope springs eternal. Thankyou both for loving each other so wonderfully that HOPE flowed out and smacked us in the HEART!
That's Love and Respect ❤❤❤❤
Best decision ever , a piece of paper is not love it’s a contract .
Verbal or written, they still have a contract with each other.
I'd say the reason they never got married is slightly less romantic than what they tell to the world.... But it's their choice and I can only respect and admire they lasted for this long. Not so common these days, especially for celebs
What a magnificent role model for couples! I wish them many more years of happiness together.
This is a perfect couple. I love them they’ve been together for so long. Happy for them.
Love and admire these two beautiful souls so much. ❤
De te❤ aki írod is az vagy...😢😮😅😊❤
This relationship is so real that Kurt is like a father to Goldie's daughter Kate, she gushes about her dad Kurt, i love their commitment to each other and their extended families.

They are great together. I remember her saying something like, sure, I'll take a ring, but a wedding isn't necessary. And they have great kids.
Right on Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn.. it's all about loving each other and enjoying life together..I'm happy for both of you..I was with my daughter's father for 30yrs..but some people have it some people don't..Antioch angie
Kurt is one of my real-life role models and Goldie is so sweet. May they have many more happy and blessed years together.
I love both of them- separately and together. So happy for them!!
One of the most beautiful couples in Hollywood and the longest lasting relationship I’ve ever seen you can tell that they love and respect eachother so much.
I remember watching the movie “OverBoard” knowing that they’ve been together for years already and that movie has stayed with me all these years... in fact, I’m gonna go watch it again soon with my love ones
We've been married for 40 yrs and we feel the same you do unmarried.
Blesses to you both! ❣️
Anyone telling you that you should get married has no clue what they are talking about. Don't feel pressured by societal norms. Its your life. Live it the way you want.
Cutest couple! Both great actors and happy they found each other! 🙏❤️
They've always looked like such a loving couple. Happy for both of them. :)
2 OF MY FAVORITE STARS. KURT FOR "THE THING" GOLDIE FOR BEING GOLDIE.
So true. My hubby and I never walked down the isle of matrimony. He and I were together since I was 18 and he was 25. He passed away August 18, 2020 at 10:05 a.m. in my arms. And I will never love anyone else... because we have an EVER LASTING LOVE ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Divorces hurt children the same as when the couple part after years of marriage.
Yeah, and car wrecks hurt your insurance premiums after years of driving but you still get your license to drive!
Not sure what that means 🎉
Did you mean to use marriage at the end? It would make more sense if you said "after years of a relationship"
Stunning couple...wishing them many more happy years together ❤️
They keep playing “Overboard” on TV lately. It’s the cutest Goldie and Kurt movie ever. ♥️
I think these guy's are best friends to the max.❤
Marriage is not always the answer. Stick to what works and be blissfully happy ❤
