Unfortunately the Greeks extracted the quarter tones from the their recent history because of the stupid nationalism which regards quarter tones as "Turkish" and thus the Greek kanonaki is in Western scale of tones and half tones. Greece has no authentic music as it sounded before because of nationalism.

It was known in ancient times as psalterion, today both as psaltiri and kanonaki. Still used.
