    I got the killah on my surron and I weigh about 240 with equipment. It was way too soft (as stated here) but there were a half dozen videos showing people putting stiffer springs in them. I bought an "X-Fusion RV1 Coil Spring (Firm, blue)". It is a few inches longer than the stock spring so I replaced the stock spacer with a 1 or 2 inch piece of pvc. This is instead of cutting the new spring down and using the same spacer. Replacement was easy (just unscrew the cap on the left stanchion and remove and replace). I made the pvc length so the spring was only just starting to compress when the cap threads caught, so very little pre-load and easy to get the nut started. This results in a soft initial stroke and it quickly firms up into the stroke. I also find the compression and rebound adjustments do "work" (though I ride with the compression all the way up). I find the fork works fine for me (goofing around in the woods; RR bed with woops, etc) and seems to be strong. Anyone else put a stiffer (maybe longer) spring in a killah and find it acceptable?

    Got one with a 60 pound spring to replace the DNM and it is way better...I like the beef of the fork for safety it just makes sense over a 5.5 pound DH mountain bike racing fork that costs 2,300 dollars and needs to be rebuilt every few years...

    If I buy the fast ace forks with the 60lbs spring option, do they come with the spring installed or do I have to install it like you did?

    What's the difference from the 1.0 to the 2.0, other than the pricepoint? Looking at it on their site now, and cant seem to change the spring to a 60lbs, only on the 1.0....

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  Рік тому +2

      I am actually not sure what the difference is right now. In this video we have the 1.0 with the 60 LBS spring. I have reached out to them to get an answer though. At the time we were sent the fork, the 2.0 was not an option.

      @@emotobros thanks. Looking forward to your response 👌 if money weren't an issue, is a bomber 58 or the fox40 the better option, for some light-heavy offroading? But mostly street rides.

      Buy the time you spend the extra 4 to 5 k on upgrades to get the bike worthy for real moto riding your at near the cost of the ktm freeride which has the best suspension and tires and well everything

      @JP Tulo not sure if that's entirely factual but it's worth it..the surron with the crappy suspension was basically a street bike for me. It was useless for mx riding with any kind of jumps, woops or rough ruts. Installing a Marzocchi bomber and fox shock with maxxiss tires made a huge difference in all phases. That fast ace or dvm whatever is total garbage IMHO. Good for entry level urban riding.

      I heard the Fox40 while good, is limited on weight, so you have to fill it with tons of air and then slam the bround/rebound shut... No idea on bomber...

    I would avoid fastace at all costs. I ordered this fork from them and several parts of the metal was ground up. They said to return the fork so I did. They confirmed that they received the fork and kept giving reasons why they couldn't refund me. Over 2 months later when they stopped responding I had to contest the charge with my credit card company. Luckily I had all of the evidence and my credit card company refunded me.
    Extremely dishonest company.

      I agree that if someone was really serious about taking thier bike on serious trails at race speeds the Fast Ace might be a little limited due to lack of compression and rebound adjustability. That being said, we believe it is a good value with spring rate options for most rider weights. The RST killa spring rate was so soft it just wasn't really safe to ride hard off jumps and drops.

    When you get anything for free, you can’t really give a unbiased opinion over anything so no it’s not really a fair review when you didn’t spend your hard earned cash for the product like everybody else has to That’s why they give it to you for free in the first place to get their name out there and to get a good reputation

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  Рік тому

      This is a good point which is why it was mentioned. If it matters at all, it was stipulated that the fork would be given away, thus neither of us wound up getting to keep it on our bikes and we also have written into the contract that we can say whatever we want about the product without reprocussion after our testing. In the end, we had no monetary benefit from what was being said and we feel that kept us as unbiased as possible.
