I was definitely thinking this cause in ‘95 the East Coast West Coast beef was going on and R&B was more slow jam and sexy with Jodeci, R Kelly, TLC, Faith Evans, and all the stuff from BadBoy. However this track is still 🔥 🔥 🔥
This is definitely pre 95. This is Late 80’s early 90’s new jack era. By the mid 90s there were acts like Jodeci, Faith Evans, and Monica to name a few and by then the sound was changing. With that being said, this is a great video and very accurate to what was made in the new jack era. Keep up the great work
The production value here… is just unbelievable!! Totally appreciate all the work you must put into all these videos! Just WOW! Talent on display, you totally rock dude!!
I loved this video! Your enthusiasm is contagious. As someone who is old enough to remember these times, it sounds slightly earlier than 1995. Go listen to the "Ghostbusters 2" soundtrack (1989) and try to tell me this isn't a song from that album! 😁
Love your content bro, but this track sounds more like 1988-91. 95' was more the 'Hip-Hop Soul' era. For this era think more 'peak Jodeci', rather than 1988 Guy. MPC60 MKII for harder drums, EMU-Racks (Proteus FX), ASR-10 for the sampling, and more lush Sounds from boxes like the Roland JD-800/990 JV-1080, D-70, Korg Trinity, etc... for the R&B tracks.
Reminded me of My Prerogative by Bobby Brown. That was 1989 or 1990, I think. So this might be a 90s sound, just barely. It's awesome, whenever it's from! Great work.
This is definitely more reminiscent of the late 80's to early 90's. There was a drastic change sonically by 95. I'm an elder millennial so I have a keen recollection of these nuances. Which I understand for someone born in the early 90's there is a generational overlap and different interpretation of what era certain music sounds were dominant in. With that said, this is still nostalgic and you have a great talent in recreating something that brought us back to a better time. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Xennial - That 5 year period from the late 1970s which makes one not a Gen X but not a Millenial. I was in my late teens/early 20s during this peak era.

This is really dope and 🔥. Im sure by now you know this isn’t ‘95 R&B. That year TLC was releasing most of their singles from Crazy Sexy Cool, R Kelly was making hits, Bad Boy was releasing great R&B with Faith and Total, Jodeci was Freek’n You and Xscape was asking who can I run to 😂. Real smooth and sexy music. However this track you made is 🔥 you should drop a remake and make it like that era. I know you would make some heat.
True, R&B was headed more for the soul vibe during that time but in 95 you still had hype new jack songs like "Scream" by MJ and "This is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan. But It would be cool to do a vid with that Bad Boy vibe!
@@jaydiggsmusic true, but that's like making a boom bap track and calling it a "2000s" sound just because some artists were still making boom bap in the 2000s like MF DOOM. there will always be artists who don't "fit" their time period, whether they're ahead or behind, but each decade definitely has its own popular music tropes and for 1995, this ain't it. Dope video as usual..my only cringe with it is that this sound was long gone by 1995. Not sure why you picked this year..even Teddy Riley wasn’t producing music like this by then. Death Row had obliterated new jack swing by then..you had R Kelly and Timbaland and The Neptunes and so many others building the sound of the time by then..this sounds more like 88-91 for sure tho. Either way dope production from you as usual💯🙌🏾
I was born in 02 but I have a old soul. I literally only listen to what people now call old school music and I also am a producer who is wanting to bring back old school hits! This is my first time seeing a video on your channel and I just want to say thank you so much!!!!!! Much appreciated!!!!
Even though this sounds more accurately like a 88-91 record, still a well produced and very detailed instrumentation with great sonics! By 95, Boom Bap drums with with 70s soul samples/or chord progressions took over the east coast, while the west coast g funk scene had undertones of Zapp and Parliament , and other 80s funk samples/jazz progressions. The r&b music at the time adopted elements from both sides of the coasts but was mostly Smooth Jazz based with vocals in place of a saxophone and the current drum sounds of the era. 1995 Overall, mostly down to mid tempo beats, with the exception of the EDM genres (at the time) like techno, house, and Euro-Dance, etc. The only time we would still rarely hear music like the one in this video by 1995 was usually informercials, instructional videos, behind-the-scenes/documentaries, and some soft-core adult Spice Channel material. Still GREAT music and nobody else can recreate New Jack Swing as good as you.

That's nowhere near a 1995 beat. Groove Theory "Tell Me", Jodeci "Freek'n You," Faith Evans "Soon as I get Home," Total "Can't You See," Brandy "Sittin' Up In My Room," D'Angelo "Cruisin" to name a few. This is an early 90's beat.

@Kev27RS I started working in studios around Boston around 98... this was very much on its way out... but still coming across our desk very often. In 95 this would have been very much in vouge for that time. At least on the east coast. Perhaps we were getting it a little more late. Splitting hairs though. Be well my friend.

Back in 95 in NJ we were listening to Wu, Mobb Deep, KRS, Death Row,Bone Thugs... This sound was done by 91-ish. This is dope nonetheless. I'd like to see Jay dig through some records and use an ASR or SP-1200. I couldn't afford those back then. I was stuck using my PC (486DX2 w/ 4MB RAM and 500MB HDD) and a WAV editor. I was born in 03 but I freaking love 90s I’m jealous of yall 90s kids. In terms of favorites I don’t really have a favorite but I’m just now getting into Erykah Badu’s On and On and some of her other tracks. I tried Music Production back in 10th grade but I might just get back into it. ❤
Cool video but this sounds more like 91 than 95. New Jack was mostly done already by this time. This sound was pretty doa by 93. 95 we had rkelly, swv, TLC, jodeci etc and they were way past this. Nice music tho and good visuals 👏👏
Dont sleep on that funk sound bruv. George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic is still one of the most interesting 80's to 2000+ bands I have ever heard. Also, anything Victor Wooten has done basically. Did you ever want to hear bluegrass mixed with funk? Apparently that exists under the band name Bela Fleck.
1990s music was the most timeless part of music history.. kids these days still bumpin that music and they have no idea where it comes from, aside from they parents playin that shit. I got 12” singles on vinyl I’m still playin and got these youngins vibin and lovin it. Keep it coming brotha
It was a v good urban musical period but it doesn't come close to the 80s soul and disco funk era or the 60s and 70s Funk and Disco era imo. If anything it was quite commercial and gimmicky and dated very rapidly, by the early 2000s swing beat sounded really old but I still like the sound compared with modern mainstream music which is mostly terrible.
Dope recreation of an old school sound but it’s a little too upbeat for ‘95. That sound was more late ‘80s (around’86 or ‘87) to early ‘90s (around ’91 to ‘92). I kept having images of cats with high top fades and wearing brightly colored clothes like what you saw on “House Party” or the first season of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” when I heard your track. By ‘95 R&B was getting more of a Hip Hop influence and the BPMs were lower thanks to the influence of Hip Hop albums such as “The Low End Theory” and “Enter the Wu Tang 36 Chambers.” You might want to check albums from ‘94 to ‘96 by acts like Jodeci, TLC, R. Kelly, Total, Faith Evans, Case, 112, Aaliyah, etc, etc since those 3 years were all similar. As stated before, what you did was still dope. Respect.
Good video but trust me, the 80's is the GOAT decade! Also... that's a late 80's beat. That beat sounds like 1987 -1989. For comparison.... Tupac released his "All Eyez on Me" album in 1996, D'Angelo release "Brown Sugar" in 1995, Soul For Real released "Candy Rain" in 1995. The beat in this video sounds nothing like the production on those songs that actually came out in the mid 90's. So... this is another good 80's beat but by the time the mid 90's came around the sound had changed. Still a good video!
Just imagine how it felt to discover in 1994 “Dubnobasswithmyheadman” by Underworld (that also used MPC) while mainstream sounded that crappy and aggressive as presented here.
This video was brilliant. You can imagine Bobby brown on this track. And you also had a little bit of Paula Abdul’s straight up, in your melody. I don’t know if you noticed or it was intentional but it sounded great. All round great video man. Love from the Mediterranean ❤️ 🇨🇾
Do better research on years that you weren't a teen or adult. Nothing here is from 1995. Fashion and music here is 1989. Music sounds exactly like Bobby Brown and Today from that year
Cool concept. But where you fell short was the accuracy as far as the sound in '95. You're a 90's BABY not kid so it makes sense you were a bit off.. but then again i was born in '93 and immediately knew you had the wrong sound for that year 🤔😂 Overall still a cool vid 👍🏾
My guy those ain’t 1995 beats you must of been stuck… my apologies you said you were born in 1992 😂 you know nothing about beats no disrespect intended
Dope, talented but respectfully NOTHING close to 1995. More like 1988 - 90. Very new Jack swing-ish. 1995 think Bad Boy, Death Row, Xscape, Brandy, Monica, Soul For Real….etc… ✊🏾💯👍🏾
My fave New Jack Swing song of that era has to be: Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game. As for synth bass, I'd say the Solid/Lately Bass patch from the 4-op Yamaha TX-81Z/DX-100/DX-21 was the king of late '80s/Mid-'90s bass sounds, along with percussion from the TR-909/HR-16 & SR-16.
incredible production! It reminds me of a video game I played in the late 90's called Jazz Jackrabbit 2 ya'll should look up the sound track its' absolutely legendary
“Me sweat anotha? I do my own thing. Strictly hardcore tracks, not a new jack swing” -Phife Dawg 😂 RIP but yeah new jack swing was mostly early 90’s, by ‘95 it was sort of played out. Either way, love the work u put into getting the authentic sound to create music of specific decades. It always works and the creative process is the most important because that’s when it’s the most fun. Much props for the 9 deuce on that new jack tip 💯
This is flashing me back to both my childhood AND my last job, where my middle-aged lesbian coworker would play this stuff all the time. Shout out to Kelly, I'll trust you with the aux every time.
Fav song from the 90s may be U Send Me Swinging. There’s way tooo many to name but in the R&B vibes lane, that joint was 🔥 amazing content my brother! This is a treat!
*Homeboy This is New Jack Swing…which is LATE 80s. You need joints from ‘95 that sound like Bad Boy Records, TLC, Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Xscape, Tony Toni Toné…list goes on*
Great but just to be precise and not making anachronism this type of "new jack drum machine beats" weee made between 1989 and 1992. In 95 it was about boom bap, SP 1200, MPC's...

That was fire! The nostalgia! Definitely took back, born in the 90s! This should be a series where you go through each era
This ain't no 95 beat at all lol. Sounds like some late 80s mc hammer 😂
I'm from 2004 and I too am studying production at a local college so that one day I will make a 1991 sounding track but sounding like something new.
Soul music of the 80s was way better than 90s and the late 60s and 70s funk and early disco was untouchable.
This ain't no mf 95 more like 88 89...
This video is a whole vibe 🎉
Awesome channel :D
Answer to your question, always Return of the Mack.
I love that song, it always makes me laugh lol
When the world needed him most…
HE RETURNED!!!
I literally was watching your vids a few days ago wondering where you were at, can’t wait to see what you’ve been cookin!
This was great man, also appreciate your positivity in the presentation
Thank You! Working on new video ideas so I can be more consistent
can't wait for the 2000's version
More like 1987 but still dope
Cool video but this sounds more like 91 than 95. New Jack was mostly done already by this time. This sound was pretty doa by 93. 95 we had rkelly, swv, TLC, jodeci etc and they were way past this. Nice music tho and good visuals 👏👏
Great job on recreating that sound. My fav track of that era has to be Teddy's Jam 2 by far.
@py_a_thon
Drop some recs from the acts mentioned in the second para.
Dude this is NOTHING like 95,this is 1990 peak new jack swing,tf are you talking about.
This sounds NOTHING like 1995. No one made beats like that during the 90s. This is more mid to late 1980s. But this is so good 🔥🔥
Nah 95 we had 2pac, Raekwon, Gza, Bone Thugs, Dogg Pound, E40 and Cypress Hill Also Friday was released in 95
1990s music was the most timeless part of music history.. kids these days still bumpin that music and they have no idea where it comes from, aside from they parents playin that shit.
Not '95 but your skillz are amazing! This is the era before '95. Music changed from this style in about 91-92
Just imagine how it felt to discover in 1994 “Dubnobasswithmyheadman” by Underworld (that also used MPC) while mainstream sounded that crappy and aggressive as presented here.
New Jack Swing, those stabs, them coveralls...and a faulty ADAT man you captured the feel perfectly.
Not 95, earlier 88, more like.
Fresh prince.. was a big one.. paula abdul, loved that stuff...
Bro that was late 80s early 90s
Dope, talented but respectfully NOTHING close to 1995. More like 1988 - 90. Very new Jack swing-ish.
1995 think Bad Boy, Death Row, Xscape, Brandy, Monica, Soul For Real….etc… ✊🏾💯👍🏾
This sounds more like the late 80s to about 91 when Poison dropped. Music was way different than this in 95!
1995? Have you ever heard hip-hop from that era? Your beat is dope but for sure it's not 1995 :)
This was dope. Would love to see something like this from the death row era
Ruslan!! Thanks brother, that's a great idea. BTW, I found your channel a few months ago, love your videos man.
Oh this is Teddy vibes all the way but late 80's. In 95 his sound was more evolved with way better drums than he blew up with
This give me more early 90s or like informercial or like child show. not really 95 this is how we do it or candy rain new jack style was kinda dying
Do another more accurate ‘95 video. But bro this was fire 🔥 well done
incredible production! It reminds me of a video game I played in the late 90's called Jazz Jackrabbit 2 ya'll should look up the sound track its' absolutely legendary
sound like seinfeld mixed with teddy riley. this why i'm ok with moving past this era 😭 i dislike that swing in the drums
This is more like 90 to 92 janet jackson. Still Sounds great
in 1995 we woulda ask why you making music for 1988?
I was expecting more 90s boom bap. This is late 80s vibe
HAHA good stuff... but def feel more like 1990-1991.
You’re about 8 years ahead of yourself… this is 1988. 🤦🏾♂️
This is flashing me back to both my childhood AND my last job, where my middle-aged lesbian coworker would play this stuff all the time. Shout out to Kelly, I'll trust you with the aux every time.
Bro New Edition would put a banger on this track
It sounds like Super Mario 64 or Baldi's Basics!
No such music existed in 1995. That's 1989.
Fav song from the 90s may be U Send Me Swinging. There’s way tooo many to name but in the R&B vibes lane, that joint was 🔥 amazing content my brother! This is a treat!
*Homeboy This is New Jack Swing…which is LATE 80s. You need joints from ‘95 that sound like Bad Boy Records, TLC, Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Xscape, Tony Toni Toné…list goes on*
This feels like it belongs in a Sonic game on the Sega Genesis.
you too young to know, this some "89 - '91 type stuff
Great but just to be precise and not making anachronism this type of "new jack drum machine beats" weee made between 1989 and 1992. In 95 it was about boom bap, SP 1200, MPC's...
