Sounder with 2 or 3 cars, is pretty rare for me. 7-8 cars was how many I saw. I lived in Washington for 2 years (got there in 08 and came back to Texas in 2010) I rode the Sounder only once. However here in Texas in the DFW Area, we have the Trinity Railway Express or TRE for sort. The TREs have 2-3 cars, and 4 on busy days. There’s also an old RDC that is apart of the fleet… but mostly F59PH IVs and 2 F59PHIs. TRE needs MPI MPXpress locomotives
@Thunder Phantom Fan λ That's a K5CA-LS, the "full blast" you're hearing is the emergency horn, which can be blown much more easily than the ones in Canada.
Amazing horns on the F59PHis and Cab Cars (Awful horns on the MP40s, though!)! Sounder is one of my favorite commuter railroads, not only for those great horns, but also the livery fascinates me too!
They're not Ex-GO. They were just built with the horn that GO considered standard since they were built specifically as Tier 3 Prototypes for units which MPI would later build for GO. MPI just decided to sell them to Sounder after they were done with them, and Sounder never bothered to change the horns on them.
Sweet video mike! I love sounder Transit! I plan on next year recording trains like sounder and the cascades. Love your content. Hope your doing well. Nice f59phi horns too.
Fantastic video, if this is a commuter train then I’d go into work every day just to see the views LOL ! Great compilation of trains. I enjoyed watching your video very much, thanks for sharing your views :-))
Awesome video!!!! I like those nice K5LAs on both Sounder's Cab Cars and F59PHIs but i'm not sure what horn the MP40PH-3Cs use though, but great video also do you know how much longer will Sounder's F59s last? I know I remember you talking about them completing a program about rebuilding theirs to meet the EPA's Tier 3 Emissions Standards but like how many more years exactly? It's ok if you don't know but anyway great video!!!! It's also pretty interesting of how Sounder still kept their fuel covers for the fuel tanks and Amtrak still keeps theirs but then the other commuter railroads such as Metrolink and Coaster took their fuel guards off, I wonder why? But anyway awesome views as well!!! +CoasterFan2105
Great video Mike. I have been up in the Seattle area before but I have never seen the Sounder train in person. I hope to see some in 2019 but for now, I have this video to watch.
@@CoasterFan2105 Ok sounds great! I think you should do a video toy trains running with a video of the train there based off of running in to back round
Great video Mike! Glad to see my area featured on your channel. If you like Sound Transit you should come up again and see the new paint jobs and new bombardier cab cars that are being used.
You make some of the most high quality train videos. I just wish most of the power you were filming wasn't soon to be replaced, as it was 100 percent of the reason I wanted to visit those pieces of track, but now they are scratched off the list by default of chargers.
While I really like Sounders, as I've grown up seeing them all the time, I still believe the F59s are a lot more fitting for them compared to the MP40s. Maybe its just the kid in me that likes the better sounding horn, but who knows
Hi mike these sounder transit commuter trains are really cool even though I never ridden on one because i never Been to Washington before they are pretty cool
Thx you! Sounder is my fav. I wonder what's the next video are you going to be? Maybe Amtrak California Cabcars Complications, all North and South California?
You're very welcome and thanks for watching! Next video is scheduled to be San Diego Freight Trains, but that could change. Keep an eye on the "Community" tab for an announcement.
Nice video!! Did you see any other Cascades train sets or Coast Starlight sets? Edit: 450 and 454 are gone man :( And i believe 459 just left last week
Thank you, Gary! For a while, there was an effort to get a commuter train running out of Ann Arbor I believe but I'm not sure what the latest is on that.
Great video Mike. The MP36PH-3C/MP40PH whatever they are lol currently the same thing but the horns on them, sounded like K5LLA's something like. You know your horns but I know half of them. Don't get me wrong. If you want, sent me a message on media. Thanks.
@@StudioSA15 You're too late for that! I've actually found that out of what the horn is sometime at that same year when this video was uploaded onto his Channel.

My friend I have always wanted to go to Seattle if I go there by train I get on the city of new Orelans at night at Memphis and get off at Chicago in the morning than take the Empire builder to Seattle
I really admire the color scheme and design for these trains.
Extremely beautiful! I am a train and I approve of this location!
You are a tram. YOU LIED >:(
The bright neon blue trains look amazing with the almost fantasy-like scenery!
I always assumed it was called Sounder because of the Puget Sound, but now I realize it's because they're constantly sounding the horn!
I agree
Everybody gangster, till the sounder sounds the horn.

Good memory, of watching trains pull in and out of King Street, but I never seen it this way. Great video Mike! Glad you didn't catch rain.
I especially love those shot where you get good close look Mt. Rainer. Now that's beauty. Especially on a nice sunny clear day. Gorgeous!

Great video of the commuter trains in the Pacific Northwest
I like this! No dumb music blaring or biographies of riders telling us about their histories.Thank you!
Wonderful locations!
1:04 Somebody call the City of Seattle and personally tell then to put a new set of K5LAs on that locomotive. Please.
It sounds like a trombone kinda
The horns are sensitive to much air pressure. The full blast of the horn is worse while half blasting the horn sounds... Fine i guess

Thanks! Try going to the other crossing at 56th. You get a decent view of Mt. Rainier there too.
If you set up against the bungalow and zoom in you're gonna get a perfect shot of rainier and the tracks.

CoasterFan2105 @ 3:57 is that a Sounder shuttle train
It's one of the regularly scheduled Everett to Seattle trains. They're sorter than the ones down to Tacoma, usually only 2 or 3 cars long.

0:23, is dat a steam locomotive I hear?
Nope, just the rails humming and the horn echoing off the nearby islands.
I guess Robert Swanson did a good job making his train horns sound like whistles off of steam locomotives.
