Really appreciate that you show framerate during action scenes. Too many reviewers will make a conclusion about the framerate by just walking through empty environments.
You’ve got examples of those reviewers?
Frame rate nerds annoy me. There’s so much more to a game than just its frame rate (most of which is imperceptible to the human eye)
@@AaBb-id1dmMaybe you worded this wrong? Because if all that "more" is imperceptible, why does it matter? XD
Framerate on the other hand is easily noticeable
@@ZenTunE- It’s the framerate that i said was imperceptible.
@@AaBb-id1dm Considering we're in the range of 20-60 here, not true at all
Appreciate your hard work on this, I know it's not easy going through the hassle of changing settings, what a great video!
Thanks for all your research, much appreciated 😃
I’ve been enjoying the game very much on my M1 iPad Air. I’ll now fine tune my settings to match your suggestions.
alien isolation got ported to mobile and they design new control for the mobile version and it work extremely well
Apple & capcom just didn't bother
On the other hand RE8 is one of very few ios games to face proper frame Pacing. I was floored to see 30fps running properly in this game.
Because touchscreen gaming sucks, you should use a controller
@@SnrubSource All mobile games must have ideal control that suits mobile users, as the mobile screen is small and does not give you the taste of the big screen, especially the TV. It is necessary to design a more realistic and comfortable control like the rest of the games on the system, and not deceive users with the user interface of cloud games and with 0 user experience.
@@kakoofficialRE8 plays perfectly with 4 fingers on custom HUD, like any other mobile shooter. It’s as good as Alien Isolation, just lil bit different
@@kakoofficial lots of devs don’t want to port their games just because of making an alternative touch controls, now the problem is SOLVED by capcom and RE8 - so if this becomes standard we will see much more AAA titles on iPad! brilliant, so just go get physical controller
shame they didn’t port an existing keyboard theme 😮
Thank u for doing these tests! It's incredible what these fanless devices can do, simply amazing! And we should expect even more form the M3 iPads. Also pretty cool ending, well done👍
M4
@@52_Ronin Yup, M4 and beyond😁
Nicely made and well information rich video…. Hope to see you in millions of subscribers…keep it up
Anyone with the m1/m2 silicons can’t go wrong especially with the m2. It’s a fantastic gaming experience, I’ve already completed it once. Res evil 4, death stranding, and little nightmares all coming soon too, so hoping other devs will start porting more console games which hopefully will get them to put more work into the ports. The potential is amazing, can’t wait to see how much iPad will progress in the next few years if it’s already at this level. I just hope going forward all base models have 16gb ram considering how powerful the chips are becoming.
I just want all games to run at 120fps, locked, no matter how bad the quality. And It’s called 16 gigabytes, when more than 1 gigabyte.
fantastic gaming experience for itards apple fanboys like you lol
@@snake2106 This ladies and gentlemen is what we call an “emotional drama queen”
@@alexythimia23 oh here comes triggerred isheep 🤣
@@snake2106 wow you really are an emotional drama queen.
12:10 The Game actually utilizes virtual memory of M1 chip. so it can use up to 16GB
hahaha that ending was amazing! great video!
Man i bet this channel blows up once more triple A titles come to apple devices in the future, and i do hope more modern titles come to appke devices its just good for the industry as a whole, been watching your content for years, and i just wanna say thank you is all, you are my go to channel for quality apple gaming tests and reviews
Thank you for buying an iPad just for this! Wow, you really deserve some sponsors. And I would actually consider buying from them cause I love your videos.
Thank you for this detailed analysis! It's starting to play not bad on Apple devices too finally!
Thank you. Not too shabby. I have an M2 but I don't really game on my iOS devices, would have to compare this to my steamdeck and see. Very impressive to see what can be done on Apple side with a proper port though!
I just got the game and I’m impressed
I've just been playing this at default settings on my M1 iPad Pro 11" with 8GB RAM and a PS4 controller, runs great. I may try the locked 30FPS settings.
Love your review thank you so much
You are simply the best at reviewing games performance on Apple devices.
Thanks for your work!
I love that you run the games at maxed out graphics and report on it, regardless of whether it's playable or not
I was extremely impressed with the M1 iPad Air. Infact I'll likely be playing it alot more on my iPad in future.
For me I think for me though the M2 seems the sweetspot for these AAA titles. That doesn't mean I'd buy an iPad Pro though, I'd wait for the iPad Air M2 model.
My Conclusion is that while for iPhone it's the beginning and is not something I'd do now, it'll always slowly improve every year, but iPad M1/M2 is great and it can get better. I imagine the iPad Pro will eventually see M3 aswell.
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam!!!
I highly recommend using some sort of cooling fan for m2 ipad and compare difference between with cooling and with out cooling
Thanks for that review. Would be good to use one clear benchmark for battery, like "x% drop for 10min" or "x% for 30min".
I tested the drain on an M2 11 inch ipad, fairly new battery at 98% health, default graphics settings and about 80% brightness. It drained at 48% per hour and the ipad got fairly warm. Draining at this rate can destroy a battery quickly, apple really needs to incorporate charge bypassing for gaming
Great video!!!
18:18 My amateur guess is that the increased memory bandwidth of M2 (100GB/s, M1 has 60GB/s) has a significant impact on framerate with higher settings. But I'm no programmer, so I have no idea about the real life RAM-speed impact in REVIII
Then don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about.
@@PJ-sv4iwEnglish is a difficult language, I understand your confusion. Keep practicing, it gets better.
Seems like a pretty good guess to me. I didn’t know there was so big of a difference between the two.
Cheers mate.
@@DavideDaviniyeah, it’s basically 50% difference
Thank you for showing this, I’ve been waiting for this video all day haha. Great content and very professional as always
You were waiting for it all day?
4:38 this also happens when I use my switch pro controller, especially if I have my apple watch + airpods connected
I can’t wait to see how the M3 iPad Pro will perform considering the added ray-tracing and mesh shader capabilities. There are rumors that Apple is gonna offer a top of the line model with the M3 Pro.
Buying a 3000$ tablet to play three games 💀
@@jeanvaljean6433well at a minimum either u want a snapdragon gen 2 or a17 pro and above to run these triple a games so either way you’re spending over $600
@@mcfusck5428 No,all i need is a 300$ phone and xbox cloud streaming
@@jeanvaljean6433you need good WiFi/data connection and even then cloud streaming has issues lol
@@jeanvaljean6433 I’m not buying one for gaming. I have a 2020 model in size 12.9 with the A12 processor and 6GB RAM, and I use it for graphic design and 3D rendering. So I can’t imagine the jump in performance that I’ll experience considering that I didn’t try any of the M processor models. So, this time I’m getting the upcoming model with the M3 and 24GB RAM and 2TB. And if it plays AAA games, then that’s a bonus 😎.
i played on the iPad air 5 high settings, and its great
Amazing to see propper 30fps frame pacing on IOS. A game change to not have bad frame pacing.
It would be dead the battery 🙄🙄🙄
@@sam95bjk3 did you respond to the wrong comment?
12:00 It's because M1+ iPads can use swap memory now
Amazing we can now run such powerful applications on a mobile device such as an Ipad
I wonder if they'll port the RE2 and 3 remakes too, or even their older classic games.
I see the Baldur's Gate 3 poster 👀👀.. having that on iPad would be a dream. Think it could be done reasonably well given this performance?
Thank you professor Snape
Is it normal that this drains 48% battery per hour on an M2 11 inch pro? Does using lower graphics settings fix this? Also is there any way to enable charge bypassing for gaming? The heat generated and battery drain is pretty high and it's a surefire way to kill your battery health quickly
Can't wait to see what frame rate the new M3 iPads can reach in 2024!
AFAIK there's no way to disable Vsync on i(Pad)OS as it's always enabled system-wide
Thanks for your review. I’ll stick with my iMac version
I wanted to use my iPad as a game console connected to my TV (with Ethernet/HDMI adapter). Some are able to get the Stream to be TV resolution (forgot the steps - but not hard to do) but for some reason my iPad did not have some of the display settings after following steps pretty closely. Maybe my TV Setup? But ideally it wold be nice to have an Apple TV "Game" Version (this can be separate and more expensive then current ATV 4K) with M3 and more memory etc. And/or make a deal with Microsoft to allow XBOX Cloud somehow. Some here are saying just get a game console (like XBOX). I do have the XBOX and it does have TV Apps but they also have advertising in the UI like really always pushing Game Pass (which I already have). I just prefer the ATV UI.
Is this ever going to work on older iPhone in the future?
Damm even the m2 most powerful iPad from Apple pushed iPad to its max limits
5:22 Can you suggest what are the games with keyboard support on iPad ?
What FPS tracker is that? I notice DF use same one.
Nice review! I hope some AAA shooters make the conversion. I huge % of console gamers only play one game (COD).
Thanks I wish apple support more games for ipad
why poc no all screen 📺 like look tv. i really don’t understand whyyy
How much did apple paid capcom to port resident evil into iOS?
I di have a M1 ipad air but only in 64gb can i run it?

Oh boy, I didn't see that coming. Thank you very much for the laugh Stewie.
And for your videos. Your work is fantastic. I'll do my best to help you reach the million subscribers (by literally harassing any Apple device owner I know to subscribe to your channel but you don't have to worry about that).
Anyway, thank you very much and I wish you a very nice day.
Gonna patiently wait and hope it gets better optimized when using other displays or goes full screen in the future. Thanks for your great honest review Stewie
I'm surprised you didn't mention the brightness throttling
Mever had that on my m2 12.9
Do you think the ipad pro M3 will have ray tracing ?
Yes of course
THANK YOU!! My biggest issue is not just that the screen doesn’t fully fit the iPad, but why all that is holy would you NOT hide the stupid clock and battery percentage in the top corners? Cmon capcom. I love this game on iPad but you’re charging top dollar for this game; no reason you couldn’t have taken care of this.
How did u toggle it to 3rd person
Frankly speaking I play this game in default settings and my Ipad Air M1 is fully charge 100% and after playing 1 hour the battery is in 60% seriously I am shocked.

Such a flawless video. I’m very disappointed that they didn’t optimize this game.
Very disappointed? Try to see the bright side of things; this is an incredible achievement in its own right!
I mean it works 60fps locked (most of the time) on M2 ipad pro
Did they fixed it?
Its size is 16gb and cod mobile has 30bg yet i can play codm nearly at max graphics and couldn’t support REV
Cod mobile is way less graphical,y intensive
That's crazy how it even runs on iOS
*THE new M3* iPad will run the game at 30 FPS in all max settings.
@@garrusvakarian8709 GPU improvements are the key in M3. Hardware acceleration of meshes and ray-tracing, and the unique dynamic caching. Let alone raw rendering power increase.

Snape reviews Resident Evil?
Good showcase on how capable the apple silicon chips are on gaming! Sadly, iOS/iPadOS still sucks for proper gaming experience if I'm being honest. I tried on my 11' iPad Pro, and it was just like the video says, no ps5 controller support, no easy to use syncing, weird glitches etc, etc, it was not great. Then last month I got my steam deck for just about 300 bucks, it's not perfect but with a little bit tinkering, gaming's very smooth. Even though it has a pretty weak chip, I can still play RE Village and Reverse on it very well. It's said that Valve and many studios put a lot of efforts into optimization for the deck, so I guess it makes sense that the deck doesn't need a very powerful chip. Maybe Apple would do more optimizations for iOS gaming one day, I hope😑 it would be a shame for these powerful Apple silicon chips otherwise.
What do you mean when you say the steam deck plays RE well? As in, what’s the difference with iPad? It’s been running perfectly on my m2 pro
@@AaBb-id1dm it runs at a lower resolution but should play fine, I won’t say the optimisation for the steam deck is good though, videos in games sometimes don’t load and show an error image and like in going under or quantum break and I get crashes when web slinging in miles morales.
just wondering can iPhone 14 pro max run this game in the future ?
no cause it doesn't have the A17 pro chip
I have this game on windows via steam store. Would this be a free download on iPadOS ?

I love apple... Making AAA games in iPhone, ipad
It looks great, but the controls and buttons seem to have completely failed to the point where you don't feel like you have a screen because it's full of buttons and nothing else, ya'll, and you don't feel the true meaning of the game. They should have had a nice design and idea when they thought about porting it, but unfortunately, it's not entirely suitable for mobile gamers. There are many great games with great looking buttons. like the “pascal’s wager” game, They are also available on the computer and on the mobile phone. I like the game very much, but the controls disappointed me.
Really I don’t think there’s a reasonable way to do touch controls for this game without changing it radically. There are too many buttons. They probably figured that so few people will actually use touch controls that it wasn’t worth the effort.
I mean, Alien Isolation came up with solid touch controls
People who said "m1 in air" was overkill are real silent since re8 dropped
